Anyone know any good books for being less agreeable, or doing Shadow Work, Confidence, assertiveness, anxiety or anything social or emotional mastery related?
-
Does anyone know an examples of Turquoise individuals? do they even exist? If so, do Coral individuals exist? Is the 3rd tier of the spiral even achievable by a human?
-
Preferably in west Europe or even better London. can be on anything, as long as it relates to what leo discusses.

how did this thread get onto auras... @Charlotte that seems like a "GREEN" trait. though you cant really say just from that generally my interpretation is that most people in turquoise use the systems from stage YELLOW to form a holistic view of the world, everything is connected etc. I'd imagine a stage TURQUOISE would have a large amount of academic knowledge, while also having a spiritual view, as they essentially merge together at that point.

see leo's "3 steps to be ruthlessly effective at anything" for more on high yield techniques that produce 80% of the results

What's your opinion on this? Is the idea it's self more important? Or how it's put into reality. Is a bad idea with a good execution better than a good idea with a bad execution? (Both, or none, isn't an answer)

If you are on the path of truth you should always persue honesty. HOWEVER I feel that although compassionate radical honesty is a very good value to live by, if you aren't developed enough to deal with the consequences you can make exceptions. In my opinion, deciding how closely you want to follow this value should be completely up to you, it is after all, a value. If you were going to be killed if you told the truth, and spared if you lied. Would you lie? I probably would. For me ultimate honesty is not worth cutting decades of a fulfilled life short. Again though I think that it depends on what you value.

I'm an INFP and 4 of my closest friends are the same. I don't know if this is a bad thing that I surround myself with people similar to me. Just find it hard to connect with other types I guess.

everything you do and think is based on the belief that what you perceive is true. You can't know things that you can't perceive, things without form or colour or shape, even with scientific tools. What does a 1 dimensional string look like? it doesnt look like anything. This is the problem with science. You can't know reality, because its not a fact or a number or an equation, those are just things that predict how it works. You are limited to your 5 senses. It is all you will ever know. unless you can realise that, and understand that consciousness is all there is youll be stuck in materialism.

Do we need truth with a capital "T" to live a fulfilling life? I don't have a deep understanding of how it's important. Surely plenty of people can still love their life without knowing the nature of reality, that God is nothingness etc. I'm not asking this to provoke, genuinely interested.

So I tend to be extremely neurotic around people, I get into my head massively, get anxious, nervous etc and the result is that I don't really enjoy anything involving anyone's company other than my closest friends (even then after an hour or two they get annoying). This causes me to stay in a lot, which inevitably makes me lonely. The issue is that I do meditate, exercise, eat healthy, journal, read and express creativity fairly regularly. I just don't find any of this helps me socially. What can I do to actually enjoy other people?

@kieranperez what's the difference between these? If you are fulfilled does it matter?

@Truth on reflection, my social skills have definitely improved gradually over the past couple of years, but also forcing myself into the deep end isn't the way to go. It's more just that it's very difficult to strike a balance where I'm uncomfortable but not the point where I'm not learning anything. I'm not naturally an outgoing person so my life purpose probably wouldn't involve surrounding myself with new people all the time. I can recognize that it's an important skill to have but I feel like the distance I've got to travel to become more than mediocre in terms of charisma probably isn't worth the 100% commitment when there are other fields I could become Excellent in in comparison.

I'm most likely looking to apply to colleges to study in 2018. The problem is that I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. Its not that I have no passions, it's the opposite. I have to many, and i find it hard to focus on one thing. The amount i earn minus expenses doesn't leave much for spending, so for me Leo's course is a big investment. I've been reading a lot of life purpose books recently and a lot of them talk about "what would you do with your life if money and time weren't an issue" but the problem is that i don't know. what would you suggest is the best path to get, as leo puts it "A vision for my self-actualized life", should i buy the course? would it make a genuine difference? any book suggestions? How can i find out what my values are for long term fulfilment if i haven't experienced literally everything there is to experience? how do most people do it? am I overthinking this?
-
I feel as though I need to become more based I reality. My sense of direction, goals, success and ability to socialize feels detached from reality, and while my conceptual understanding of these things and self actualisation has grown dramatically recently, but my social skills and anxiety haven't grown at all. How do I "live self actualised" rather than conceptually understanding the self actualised?

@ZX_man@ZX_man I'm 19, and I might be heading off to university next year. I think I need a large shift in my life to change things up for me because it's not happening at the moment on its own. I'm going to an rsd free tour in a couple of weeks so hopefully that might help me a little bit. Those guys are pretty spontaneous. @Truth do you think forcing myself to be around people more often would help with that?
-
Have any of you experienced it or been somewhere that teaches or practises it? does it work, and what was it like for you?
-
what do you mean?
-
@Joseph Maynor i have the habit, but its inconsistent, some weeks i do it deeply everyday for 20 minutes and maybe 1 hour strong determination sitting, other weeks maybe only for 3-5 minutes.

So I've always had a problem with people in general, almost every other facet of my life i feel "comfortable" or excel at. It feels like the need to "be polite" and care what people think is a consequence of being raised as a snowflake millennial in a rural suburb. My social anxiety used to be extreme, it's only moderate now but I'd still say i struggle with it a lot. I see myself as a fairly intelligent guy, but socially I'm a mouse; whenever i see someone who feels comfortable in any situation and can instantly come out with something witty or at least appropriate to the situation it feels like they are a social god compared to me. It feels as though ive got a bunch of chains holding me down and i just want to be able to not give a fuck at all and say what i mean. At the moment I stutter, just stay quiet so find it difficult to connect and therefore open up to people which in turn makes me lonely. I think the main reason i find no enjoyment whatsoever from talking to people who im not good friends with is because i cant show my vulnerabilities to them. How do i lessen (preferably erase) my social anxiety, and ascend to godhood? Is it through somehow rewiring my values? or is it about just practising over and over by doing something like game. any book suggestions that might help with this?

if any of you are ever in Europe, try going up to the Scottish highlands (or any of the european ranges) and going on a solo retreat in a yurt/ camping. i did it at the foot of ben nevis and it was a really refreshing experience. -

@Nahm somehow it's always the experiences i hate/am scared etc at the time that become my best memories. -

this sounds like a very different method of camping to what I'm used to. It sounds great (and cheaper than most any other way of doing a retreat). In fact, the less you take the better. Ill be trying this soon! -
From my research, I've learned that a lot of the "whole foods super healthy organic protein vegan cruelty free" are products that are way over priced. If you're looking for protein powders, go with whey, it's best for gains, and generally the cheapest. As for long term health effects of whey, it depends on how much you have and how often you have it, like anything in nutrition. Generally speaking my research has shown me that the reason a lot of vegans avoid dairy (those that do it for health reasons) do it for the cholesterol and anything passed down from the cow. Given that you are most likely living in a first world country, the production process for whey protein is extremely sterile, they would get sued or cracked down on by health and safety if it wasn't. Second, most whey contains less than 5mg of cholesterol, which is next to nothing. A lot of research suggests that the correlation between cholesterol and heart disease is only causation anyway. Also, notice the dogma and ideological crusades going on here. It's highly unlikely that ALL the research points to veganism being the optimal health diet, vegans tend to be fairly tunnel visioned in this respect, in reality there are pros and cons, rather than "this is better than that" like anything in nutrition. Whey isn't generally that unhealthy, but it depends on where you source it, a lot of whey products have a lot of added sugar and corners can be cut on quality for cost reasons. Do your research, like any foods, there are healthier options and less healthy ones. As for meat, there is a lot of conflicting evidence so it depends on your stance. Either way though, if you choose to eat meat and are worried about the long term health effects, get free range organic, not only are a lot of the chemical and other long term health effects lessened in this type of meat, it actually tastes better. Tl;dr: if you have money to burn and are fine with slower/less optimised results, go for an organic plant based protein, if you don't go for an organic (or non organic if you choose) whey protein. Widely regarded as the best in the sporting world. If you choose to eat meat eat good quality, preferably organic.
