You can reach this 'darkness' floating state where you stop existing with just normal meditation, maybe the ego backlash comes from forcing it with a breathing technique. After 2 years of on off meditation I can get into this state in 30 min - 1 hour, I can stay as long as I like, there is no damage - I am breathing calmly, either focusing on the breath or energetic presences in the body. Can't remember the last time I've missed a day. The process becomes easier when you've done enough self-inquiry to desolve the roots of thoughts that tend to pop up and keep you from going deeper. -

You could try and do a bit of research on it before you make a thread? -

@Elisabeth The number of subjects in the replication are much much smaller. But yea I thought it was interesting and he seemed quite coherent. Not that it means I believe it but he made a strong case for it and came across as a sensible person. The interesting thing is the did the experiment across the internet as well, let any participate that wanted to etc. -

@Elisabeth Hey Elisabeth, regarding effects of consciousness specifically on the double slit experiment gonna share this interesting vid about a slightly different version of the experiment: -

@Mikael89 Depends what you mean by detector, if they place screens right after the slits through which the photons pass through to try and capture that info - it will collapse the wave function. @Mafortu What? where are you getting that a laser is shot to observe the result? -

Meh, some of the things he claims are unnecessarily complex - he goes the extra mile to add weirdness to constructs that have their proven use. And has a condescending 'look at how much deeper I understand things' attitude. Every concept can be broken down into others, every measurement is technically inaccurate on some level... whatever - so what? -

He's trolling us into enlightenment duh! But yea he seems full of it (not enlightenment). -

Very valid question. I have yet to see anyone claim they've retrieved information through astral projection that would confirm if it was real, as opposed to simply imagination. People get up in arms about asking for proof, or deflect by saying I've already made up my mind etc etc. Actually no, I would love there to be proof of this, which you think should be quite easy - have someone write a number in another room and retrieve that information through astral projection. Nothing of this nature has ever been done, if I'm wrong someone please post a link. Btw Saying a friend of a friend did astral projection, visited someone and saw them do an activity they later confirmed is too vague for proof. -
Don't know this guys well but I enjoyed the singing:

I just think these terms ultimately are crude approximations and reality is a lot more fluid. -

@Arman Actually it has been considered to have a link by some but not traditionally no. Depends how you look at it and what you consider traditional, sigmund freud linked religion with neurosis. But really there are countless articles and studies about the relationship between both.. Some psychologists that are also tuned/familiar with spirituality have considered it's worth further investigation. Just because something has not been considered historically of significant relevance is not a good argument against it, just means it hasn't been looked at deeply enough before. Anything relating to spirituality is granted hard to prove, shame you dismiss this train of thought/research, -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Sockrattes's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Nahm So in these particular cases altered states of mind have no link to spirituality but others do? Why the need to be selective in this regard - where is this supposed barrier that separates the two? -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Sockrattes's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Why are they different? What's to say there is no link to spirituality? Doesn't in some way everything have a link to it if you believe in spirituality? -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Sockrattes's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I do think there is some connection. Hard to say what it is, the lines seem to be often blurred between a spiritual experience/psychosis - there's actually a ted talk about it: I think there are connections your brain makes it otherwise wouldn't with a spiritual awakening, same as when using psychedelics which in turn can have adverse effects. -

@InfinitePotential Nice to see someone who has gone deep into so many phenomena. In regards to reality, have you considered the possibility that it is both virtual and 'physical'? Sort of like compressed data that becomes physical/projected once consciously perceived (hence the observer effect). Wanted to add: http://www.quantumgravityresearch.org/ these guys have some out there concepts about reality and various vids about this reality being something projected from a 8d crystal.. whether I believe or completely understand what they propose is another matter -

@sarapr I've looked into the higgs boson, double slit/quantum physics etc. None of it means there is no 'physical reality', it just says our understanding of it is limited/imperfect. - wanted to add the idea that atoms pop in and out of existence isn't correct, but a popular belief - it's just that at a level particles can't be said to have a certain position, they exist in a sort of cloud of probability until measured.. -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Solace I mean it's been proven particles are not the smallest possible thing in existence, they are made of quarks.. so to claim adamantine particles make up everything.. can you actually reference any good material on this rather than just say 'look into'? -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@sarapr Hmm can you please reference that claim? I've been interested in Quantum mechanics for a while, haven't seen anywhere where it claims matter doesn't exist- it just makes claims about how it behaves. -

@Outer I don't get the need for insults here, it's just a discussion right -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Dodo so far the smallest they've found are up and downward quarks, - what particles are made up of. -

@DoubleYou Actually I just pointed out they have a connection to the nervus plexuses or at least some people believe they do. Don't jump to assume I don't explore it myself, I do - on a daily basis. Was saying it would be nice to have other points of reference/evaluation.. what's wrong with that? It is possible one day to have ways of measuring activity on this level, everything is connected and so activity on one plane likely has effects that can be picked up on others. -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Joseph Maynor actually i would very much like to understand to what extent they are real or not, not just 'useful' to me or other specific individuals. I get that this is unlikely, maybe someday someone will figure out a way of measuring/testing this phenomena. -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Outer so everything I've experienced so far, sensations - whether they be 'energy' or anything that does not fall under the normal sense is all something fantasized by my brain? This concept might be of interest to you https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprioception I don't deny I'm still every skeptical of Chakras, but I cannot deny the feeling - nor can I explain or prove them. But to explore them I must first consider they might be real. Ignoring them does not make them go away. Tests have revealed no issues that might be causing them - so far. -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Outer Well they link the nerve plexuses with chakras. Attached the image. I'm just suggesting what if the sensations people feel with chakras, these descriptions, are some way of explaining actual things in the body? You don't have any proof it isn't either. Why be so closeminded about it. I'm not saying it's entirely correct, but that there is some connection to actual activity. -
Dogsbestfriend replied to Wes Thoughts's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Outer Actually I didn't use the word magic. But you believe in the electrical signals that course through our bodies, that's been proven. Along with the Nerve plexuses?
