Exactly I don't know and i agree if i wanted to know i would have to dig deeper, but not knowing is different to dismissing it. At what point of digging does it just become a distraction from more important things that you could be doing. Even if I read all the books and are provided with all the evidence how can i even be sure that predictive programming is a thing? Maybe it is true that unless i experience something I actually don't know, this is one of the core teachings of spirituality. -

Yea i mean some of the ideas presented were interesting but they shouldn't just be believed. Like the predictive programming idea from the matrix move, it could well just be coincidence or it could well be the truth, we don't know and therefore shouldn't call it the truth. -

I was very interested in this after Rebel Wisdom brought up his cultish behaviour. I honestly think he is acting out all this unconsciously from a stage orange worldview. He just wants his business to do better and cant see the subtle self deceptions he has fallen for. His questioning is too open ended and doesnt challenge any of his viewpoints which is important in jounalism. He is also using the established media as an enemy to enlargen his business model. -
The time has come to read The Bhagavad Gita. Could someone please recommend to me which version to read? Thanks

has anyone read the Stephen Mitchell version? I've heard good things about that. Ive started reading Eknath Easwaran’s version but its alot of his interpretation rather than the book itself -

Yea I was thinking of collective egos when Bill Mckibben wouldnt even investigate his question. His whole worldview has been made around green energy and the fact that its all powered by biomass burning trees would harm his colective ego. Great documentary the problem i see with it is so many problems no solutions. What are we supposed to do with this info? -
andyjohnsonman replied to TrynaBeTurquoise's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Ok I finished watching it - I feel this doc really ties in nicely with Leo 2 part understanding survival episodes. All these companies who are talking about caring for the environment but actually just doing the same thing with biomass care about their own survival more than anything else. Why is Al Gore a millionaire and you aren't? He went straight in with companies even before his documentary to exploit and even though he and others know its wrong he is feeding his family top quality food in great comfort. -

im gonna watch it tonight -
After Leos the most recent episode, I am going to watch some TV shows with low conscious behaviour and try and see this worldview and try to understand it and be open to it. Im looking for shows that focus on chimpery like status, fear, hate, jealousy, showing off, bullying and fighting to higher status etc. If anyone has some recommended shows that fall under this category please list them and i will watch them tonight and journal about what the world looks like from this worldview and what i can learn.

This is decent Brand is clearly on the path how he talks here i place him as a stage yellow thinker as he can sit with Ricky Gervais stage orange worldview without any resistance . One thing i see holding him back is his complete reaction against psychedelics as he thinks he will become addicted to them as he is on a 12 step recovery program from heroine addiction, little does he know they are anti addictive! PS the video starts getting good and talking about god at the 30 minute mark -

I use spiral dynamics a lot as a lense to see the world and feel quite attached to it, So I decided to do an open mindedness exploration on "spiral dynamics is a lie". Heres what I wrote: It's not true that all big sample studies are correct. Just because a "blue' person has one blue characteristic doesn't mean that he falls into other blue characteristics. What you think of as a blue person could be more loving and developed than a yellow person. The yellow person could have just as much judgement about how others cant see the whole of the spiral. SD could be a narrow view overlooking that whats most important - love, dogma, selfishness etc. My idea is to sit with this and explore it while being able to go back and use SD as i please without attachment.
-
I just see on this forum that spiral dynamics is a go to lens to evaluate a lot of things, so as a good open mindedness exercise, can you open your mind to the possibility that spiral dynamics is completely wrong?
-
Like Leo said in the episode its not about whether or not it is correct initially, it's about whether your mind is open to the possibility, I'd say this is more possible than my mum being hatched from an egg which was his first example
-
Great episode but can you consider the possibility that spiral dynamics stages are in the wrong order and actually stage blue has more wisdom than turquoise?
