  1. @old soul, i dont know how deep you are willing to go on this enlightenment jazz, but the idea behind it is that real and unreal dont exist there is just experience, there is no physical world and matter doesnt exist. so a dream you had lastnight is just as '' real '' as your waking experience, because they are both just made out of the experience of them, the same would apply for tripping on drugs.
  2. I have smoked 5meo never snorted. smoked about 20mg. it was a crazy spectacular beautiful experience, i didnt get any meaning from it. when i do it i feel abit disappointed like im supposed to feel like i experienced god and get all this meaning from it people talk about. why did you find smoking it bad
  3. at this stage for me it seems like the mind is using these self observation/ self inquiry questions as a sneaky way to perpetuate itself, these questions make the mind feel useful and give it something to do. one pointed concentration on the self is torture for the mind, it makes the mind redundant.
  4. ya about 40 smoked. im not sure if snorting freebase works, i heard another guy saying he snorted freebase and felt nothing
  5. @Afonso I think i know where you got your 5-meo from, its freebase form so you will need to smoke it. i had to do about 40mg to get a breakthrough experience
  6. the answer is there is no one who is aware of reality, reality is self aware. its like in a dream, the character in the dream isnt aware, only the dream is aware, the dream is made of the knowing of it. there is nothing in a dream that has its own independent existence apart from the experience of it, the dream and the knowing of the dream is the exact same thing. being = knowing = known you exist(being) you are aware( knowing of what is known) what would existence/being be without the knowing of it what would knowing be without existence/being
  7. @stevegan928 for the last year i have had lots of facial tension when meditating or contemplating, I think it is the 'I' feeling being purged from the body. 90% of the separate 'I' is in the feelings in the body. and the more that is purged the more relaxation there is in the body, thats my experience anyway.
  8. @Leo Gura i think this video is a good summary of Maharshi's technique. I am confused though, a lot of teachers say dont try to stop thought its counterproductive. but this seems to be what Maharshi was advocating. thought arises, inquire into who has the thought, the one who has the thought cant be found as a result thought disappears, and the goal is to stay in this no thought state as long as possible as often as possible until you realize your true nature.
  9. @Leo Gura what is the difference between this self observation technique and self inquiry as taught by Ramana Maharishi ?
  10. look into the 'I am' meditation, its something that can be done all day with some formal practice of it.
  11. @Leo Gura if you say 5meo is the ultimate psychedelic, what is the value in taking mushrooms, and have you taken ayahuasca before and if so what do you make of it?
  12. id like to do ayahuasca or mushrooms, but its not practical with my living situation. i have done dmt and 5meo but they are fine cos it only lasts 10mins or so, so its easy for me to keep it hidden.
  13. tried 5-meo for the second time today, the first time wasnt what i was expecting, it wasnt that intense or profound. this time it was the most intense, profound, beautiful experience i have ever had. i had a friend there with me who said it lasted for 3 minutes but it felt like eternity. It was an enjoyable experience, made me want to do it again.
  14. @Neo i dont think there are any health risks with dmt or 5meo, as long as you dont do too much or too often. I am better for doing them, they def help to break down the ego.
  15. @AlwaysBeNice it was about 15mg, although i am sceptical of the quality of it. @Neo it seems like you are anti drugs, have you done these substances yourself, or have you been brain washed into thinking all illegal drugs are bad for you.
  16. just do it, its not that big a deal. I found normal dmt far more intense than 5-meo-dmt. dmt was the first psychedelic i done and i found it abit traumatic at the time, but had good long term effects.
  17. @Mat Pav about a year ago i was reading a direct pointing book and had a sudden realization that the self was a concept, there is no controller of thoughts and the body, and there is no experiencer just experience. it didnt seem like i done anything to make it happen it just seemed to happen before i knew what was going on. overtime as i see no me again and again the experience of no controller and no experiencer is becoming more apparent. I have not had this self realization experience you talk about of getting a sense of what i am, the nothingness.
  18. and then you have people like Eckhart tolle who ask one question '' I cant live with myself, who is the one I cant live with '' and become enlightened. and others like nisargadatta maharaj and shinzen young who do it in 3 ~ 4 years. its not one size fits all, seems some people are more prone to it than others.
  19. @Azrael when you say there is nothing you can do or can not do to become enlightened, do you mean cos there is know one here to do anything or become enlightened, or that it doesnt matter if practice takes place or not enlightenment is just as likely to happen either way.
  20. alot of enlightened people i have heard have said the most important factor to becoming enlightened is how much you want it, it needs to be your number 1 priority. timescale is hard to say, but from what i have heard if your going an hour a day of work, i would say maybe 10 years.
  21. seen this on another forum, been working with it for about a month, found it great for removing labels from experience, quieting the mind, questioning beliefs. Please touch now the seeming ‘laptop’ with the seeming ‘hand’ And pay attention only to the sensation which is labelled by thought “touching the laptop, it’s hard”. Please look each and every question very-very thoroughly. Look each question one-by-one. Don’t rush. Take your time. How many sensations are there? Are there a sensation ‘of hand’ and another sensation ‘touching’ and another sensation ‘of hard’? Where is the dividing line between the sensation ‘of hand’ and the sensation ‘of touching’? Where is the dividing line between the sensation ‘of touching’ and the sensation ‘of hard’? Where is the dividing line between the sensation ‘of hand’ and the sensation ‘of hard’? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘HAND’ doing the touching? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘LAPTOP’ being touched? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that ‘it is hard’ or ‘there is HARDNESS’? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘TOUCHER’ (a subject doing the touching)? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘TOUCHED’ (an object being touched)? Staying with the sensation only, does the sensation itself suggest in any way that there is the ‘ACTION of TOUCHING’? Or is there ONLY a SENSATION with NO attributes or characteristics whatsoever? What is it that is saying or suggesting all the above? HOW is it known EXACTLY that a sensation is coming from a physical object? Does the sensation says or suggest in any way that it’s coming from a physical object? Please ‘look at’ the seeming ‘laptop’ while the seeming ‘hands touching it’ (By the way, do you see the joke here? And pay attention only to the IMAGE which is labelled by thought “touching the laptop, it’s hard”. Please look each and every question very-very thoroughly. Look each question one-by-one. Don’t rush. Take your time. Staying with the IMAGE only, does the image itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘HAND’ doing the touching? Staying with the IMAGE only, does the image itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘LAPTOP’ being touched? Staying with the image only, does the image itself suggest in any way that ‘it is hard’ or ‘there is HARDNESS’? Staying with the image only, does the image itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘TOUCHER’ (a subject doing the touching)? Staying with the image only, does the image itself suggest in any way that there is a ‘TOUCHED’ (an object being touched)? Does the image suggest in any way that there is a HAND? Does the image suggest in any way that there is a LAPTOP? Staying with the image only, does the image itself suggest in any way that there is the ‘ACTION of TOUCHING’? Does the image itself suggest in any way that there is ‘hardness’? Does the image itself suggest in any way that the sensation is localised in ONE PART of the image, labelled that part by thought ‘hand’? Does the image have parts? Like one part being a ‘hand’ and another part ‘laptop’? If yes, how is this known? Does an IMAGE have any attributes or characteristics whatsoever? Does the image itself, convey any sort of information? Anything? “It is a mental interpretation FROM the visual information and sensation…” – FROM??? So you say that there is such thing as ‘visual information’? What is ‘visual information’ exactly? Where is the ‘visual information’ EXACTLY? Where exactly that information is STORED IN? In the image? If yes, please show the exact location where the information is stored in the image. Where is the it?
  22. the first 2 things that came to mind when i seen no self was '' i cant believe how simply this is '' and '' this is the way it has always been, i just never seen it ''
  23. mindfulness is witnessing what is happening rather than being caught up in it. like watching thoughts and not becoming lost them them, or just being mindful of the body when its moving. awareness is knowing, its the knowing that knows experience. you feel a sensation there is awareness of it, same with sound or anything that is experienced. awareness/knowing/experience all the same ''thing''. the trick with awareness is people perceive there to be the world and there is awareness of it, but there is just awareness, the world is made of awareness, the world is made of the knowing or experience of it.
  24. the content of any thought is an illusion !!! what is your experience of age, how do you know you or others are a certain age?
