Hi all, I made a notion page to start classifying my trip reports, and shamanic breathing / meditation sessions according to the 10 ox hearding pictures. https://www.notion.so/1fed659adc1b42d595823f4b92a95181?v=2346bc54b9e64e729fabf95caa08ef22 You can look between the two views '10 ox herding pictures' and 'trip reports' whenever you have a report to make just duplicate the ox hearding picture it corresponds to, assign it a date, and it will automatically move into the 'trip report' view, here you can just open the card and enter your reports in the page, hope someone finds it cool/useful In before accusations of procrastinating over doing the actual work... I enjoy it so shoot me!

@d i e g o Great, will put these suggestion in roadmap for next iteration. I don't suppose we could have a skype call after you've used the product for a week or so to get your initial thoughts? @Aeris If you are lucky enough to only use things conciously, then this app would not serve you at all. The idea is people use this, become concious of their app use and then maybe don't ever need it again! @d0ornokey Would be great to take a call with you after you've used it for a week to get any feedback you might have! @Girzo Great, if you tested be so interested to hear your thoughts, early user feedback is so vital for me right now @Everyday Again, a call would be brilliant to get your initial thoughts!

Hi, I took leo's course earlier this year, my purpose is to lead teams, creating products that simplify lives. Since that course I've got a new job as a Product Manager at a start-up I really believe in. I have also just created my first app, the idea is it stop unconcious app use, giving people power back over their smartphones. It works like this: 1. Install the Frition app (android only at the moment) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.goldfish.friction&hl=en 2. Select apps you want to use less (i.e instagram) 3. When you open these apps, rather than opening straight away, you will get a 7-second delay with the Friction screen, so you can make the choice of whether you really want to open the app, and it's not just a subconcious behavourial pattern If anyone downloads it now, it be forever free. Interested to hear any feedback! Cheers, Tom

Thanks so much for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it, I think we still have a couple of bugs to iron out but the feedback I've got through this and other forums has really motivated me to push this though. While I know some basic marketing, if there are any real app marketing wizzes on this Forum I'd love to work together! Can negotiate either a fee for your time or even some profit split / share options on the app!

Hi guys, Leo posted a great article on the 9 stages of ego development a few weeks ago, I thought it was great and wanted to try and cement my learning by summarising. If you are interested in reading a condensed version, have a look, if it piques your interest, make sure to read the full paper! https://medium.com/@tomlittler/the-9-stages-of-ego-development-and-how-you-can-advance-through-them-18f1ecf919e5

@Matt23, glad you liked it, I would agree with your comments on SD v CG, I see more similarities than differences, and there seems to be this individualist to integrated swapping and shifting as you move up. @Matt23 and @SerotoninluvRegarding the internet helping v hindering development, this is my own musings that I've noticed in friends, and myself. The internet basically has the ability to massively reinforce certain elements of each stage, for example at SD Orange - CG Expert, it is so easy to only use the medium of the internet to expose yourself to rational, individualistic, ambitious tendancies, and media platforms such as google, youtube and facebook are only going to serve to amplify this echo chamber. I.e if you follow garry vee on youtube, you are going to be suggested all other videos of this kind etc. I've written some more about the effects of technology on the human condition in some of my other articles, so you can check them out.

Hi all, In Leo's videos he sometimes touches on the topic of the process that goes into creating actualzed content, including steps such as: - Compiling multiple sources - Deep inquiry - Direct experience -Note-taking an linking of ideas in a commonplace book I was wondering if it has been described on this forum or in a video or blog post what this process usually looks like in slightly more detailed steps. For example, I imagine it may look something like: - Weeks / years of reading - initial exploration into a topic - Hashing out first ideas in commonplace book, based on books read and 'original' ideas - Continue to refine ideas / thoughts over a number of weeks, - Compile some sort of script for a video - Film the video with pointers from the script. Even though the process may look slightly different for each video, I'm sure the general framework is similar, but the process I've outlined above may be way off the mark. The reason I'm asking is I'm starting to explore deeply topics around how technologies impact on the human condition, and am looking for advice on how to better improve my research and writing. Also if you have your own methods - please do share! Thanks, Tom

Hi Guys, I'm obsessed with how technology has both the potential to rapidly move forward ego development (biggest case I wouldn't have found actualized.org without it, most likely would judt be sitting at the same stage as my family and peers) However, I'm also acutely aware that the way most people use technology and the internet is actually maybe making it harder to escape their own echo chambers and really advance. People's who's lives are so caught up in social acceptance via Instagram, and 'tribe' like culture will surely find it very difficult to evolve. I'm wondering what everyone here think technologies role in ego development is? Should it be viewed as an oppurtunity? A threat? Both? How do we best promote ego development in the connected world? Thanks, Tom

@Wisebaxter cheers for this post mate. I’m literally in the exact same position. Been meditating religiously for 4 years now, done some long retreats on my own but my currently my position is the same as yours; things have recontextualised but no mystical experience. I have also been of the opinion that I didn’t want to ‘cheat’ with physcohdelics but have come to the conclusion that the combination of being a wage slave and the society we are living in is really not conducive to mystical experiences. ive just ordered some mushrooms and my plan is to take 0.5g (micro dose) and then work up in increments of 0.5g till I get a mystical insight. Seems to me like a fairly reliable method, but would be interested to hear other people’s thoughts on this. good luck with it all man and let me know how it goes! -
Of course he’s manipulating us, isn’t manipulating just altering someone’s viewpoint? You can be manipulated and still be conscious of it MLK was perhaps the biggest manipulator of all time If you speak or act, you manipulate. We are all manipulators. It’s just whether we do this in a positive way But everyone thinks they are doing what they are doing for positive reasons...

Hi guys, Just finished the part of the life purpose course where you actually write it down do the first time. Overall I’ve loved the course, it has been a big time commitment but worth it! My purpose is this: ‘To unite a team in a vision, creating businesses that raise the worlds consciousness’ Medium: Technology start-ups Mastery: entrepreneurship and business intelligence Let me know your thoughts, this is super important so I don’t want to have overlooked anything or created something that isn’t specific or niche enough. Thanks Tom
-
Ok thanks a lot for the input. I believe I need both these things to actualise my life purpose so I will keep them. Regarding the medium, you are correct. I’ll simplt change it to start ups Be concrete. What do you mean by "raising consciousness" and why is that meaningful to you? Leo, when I did the visualisation exercise of giving a speech I envisioned speaking about using business as an accelerator for bringing people up the ladder of spiral dynamics. Clearly business took people from blue to orange. In London where I live now, the trend is that start ups have a ‘green’ focus. These pioneering businesses permeate society and, in my opinion, are fundamental to the shift from orange to green. I believe business can also be used to now continue lifting people through the spiral, weather that be through higher value products / services or ethos. Maybe business will have a limitation in this use on the spiral at higher levels but, unless we try, can we know? Does that make sense? I initially wrote ‘... to raise consciousness using the spiral dynamic framework’ but cut out the last bit as it was too long and seemed superfluous Why is business meaningful to you? What is the point of business? Part of me can’t explain. It’s just in my gut. I love business and it’s a perfect myriad of my key strengths, creativity, leadership, bravery and learning. Everything that inspires me most is business related, I get incredible inspired reading about Elon musk, Steve jobs, Richard Branson etc. Business in my eyes is any engine that is self sustaining. In order to employ people (and yourself) to carry out great work, you need to pay them, I just see that as a basic truth. Why is business being used to achieve this impact and not something else? Looking at the improvements that have occurred materially in the past, and the improvements I see occurring on a deeper societicial level in the future. I vision business and entrepreneurship will be the biggest driver

You are right, they are quite different, But I think are both areas I am in the process of mastering / very passionate about. Do you think I need to pick one? Startups would also work, but as I currently work in tech, and that is the specific medium I find most interesting I thought I’d use that as my medium currently, I can always change it in the future?

Thanks a lot for sharing this, seems we are on a similar path right now -
Hi Guys, hope you're good Leo touched on a topic in one of his later videos (I forget which one) on the introvert / extrovert loop, the premise being from my understanding that once you becoming fully content with being introverted you become by nature extroverted (or something along these lines). Before I started meditating I was a massive extrovert and in some senses still am. I'm social sec of my university rugby club, always popping jokes etc. etc. But, recently I have found that I am becoming far more introverted, whereas before I would make every effort to go out with my friends now I prefer just sitting in and reading books etc. and while this certainly has its benefits I feel it has almost too far gone the opposite way. I value friendship highly and I am concerned if I continue on this path I will become so content with loneliness I will drift from my friends. My question is in your opinion, should I just accept this as part of growth, or should I be conscious of my introversion and make more of an effort with my friends, as I did with meditation etc.? Or is the introvert extrovert loop theory saying I will come full circle and after this period of introversion and return to my old social ways with even greater vigour. I think Leo alluded that he might be making a video on this topic surely but just wanted to hear if you guys had any experience with this. I know its a complicated topic and most likely I have misconstrued some of the theory. Many Thanks!

True but the argument against this would surely be that a true friend should always be there for that person, If I am going into deep introversion I may not be there for them, but this is sort of going a bit off topic! -

Yes I do this sometimes when I have access to nature, I think it's what I intended to do when I sat for this post, but got distracted! -
Hi Guys new to this forum, hope you're all good! A brief bit about me I have been meditating for around 2 years now doing mainly 20 minutes every day but have recently stopped strictly timing it, I probably miss a day of meditation around every 2-3 weeks. Recently I find that while meditating I am hopping through different techniques probably at the rate of every 30 seconds to 1 minutes. For example today I meditated outside and at first I listened to the birds, then I concentrated on one bird then I focused on my breathing, then my brain wondered and thought about writing the problem on this forum, then I realised it wondered so told myself focus focus, then back to the birds etc. etc. My question is should I be ok with this, generally I am not entertaining thoughts to any large degree but part of me feels this meditation is in way optimal and my monkey brain is almost tricking me into thinking I'm meditating when actually I'm not. Paradoxically I try not to judge this thought hopping. As far as results are concerned my life as definitely improved in the last couple of years, for example small things like traffic jams that are out of my control don't anger me anymore, I am much more content in my own company, More superficialIy I found a great girfriend got a first in my degree a good grab job etc etc. although it's hard to know if this is because of meditation as I've implemented a number of other personal development habits into my life in the last few years! Interested to hear your thoughts thanks guys!

Ok thanks so much guys, its so tricky finding the balance between accepting your thoughts without judgement and at the same time realising focus on one technique is important, I will try harder!
