  1. This sounds like attachment, to know love one must first learn and internalize the lessons from attachment (which is this kind of obssesed-possesive-love). Suffering and reflecting the pain attachment creates should empower you and make you less-needy, once you really learn that, you will step to the next love-level and probably will meet someone who is on a similar level.
  2. It scares me a lot how that is always a possibility, especially with this kind of things I can't tell wether I'm feeling a strong-magical connection with The Girl because of survival or because is something bigger, I just know it feels so right and the connection feels so unique, and one has to have faith in what might unfold from that.
  3. On the business I work (design and innovation) we‘re starting a consultancy department, which team is formed by educators, psychologists, designers, and business experts. We have a big list of potential clients which we want to offer our services (one month consultancy for a better work environment and organization). I know we‘re a stage green organization which will enter a stage orange environment. We‘re still on the planning stage so I‘d love to hear your opinion. Here a few questions I hope you could help me with: - How might we evaluate their degree on the Spiral Dynamics spectrum? - How might we communicate green values to orange people? - How might we help orange businesses and their people raise their conciousness? - What questions might be wise to ask them? - What precautions should we take to avoid orange backlash when presented to green ideals? - Which mindset should we keep while working with them? Thanks for your help, I think this is a great opportunity for green to work with orange for the best of the californian industry
  4. I recommend Kelley‘s Creative Confidence, was my first book on creativity and pumped me up to tap more into my creative potential. Also one short book called Steal like an artist; also many books from Leo‘s booklist are fucking great. Here Kelley‘s talk on Creative Confidence:
  5. Baja California, México yes i‘ve licked the border wall, tasted like stage blue.
  6. I‘ll just quote Sting from The Police here, the song is called Synchronicity: With one breath, with one flow You will know Synchronicity A sleep trance, a dream dance, A shared romance, Synchronicity A connecting principle, Linked to the invisible Almost imperceptible Something inexpressible. Science insusceptible Logic so inflexible Causally connectible Yet nothing is invincible. If we share this nightmare Then we can dream Spiritus mundi. If you act, as you think, The missing link, Synchronicity. We know you, they know me Extrasensory Synchronicity. A star fall, a phone call, It joins all, Synchronicity. It's so deep, it's so wide Your inside Synchronicity. Effect without a cause Sub-atomic laws, scientific pause Synchronicity
  7. What worked for me with weed was what I call vanishing the habit, I explain further: First, make a little calendar where you check daily if you smoked or didn‘t on that day. If you smoke daily, you begin by not smoking for one day, and the next day your‘e free to do it, do that for a week or until you‘re comfortable with that, you‘ll see in your calendar one day checked, one not. Then you smoke one day yes, two days no. When you feel like you mastered that do one day yes, three days no; When you feel like you mastered that do one day yes, four days no; and so on keep growing the weed-free days until you don‘t even feel like you need it. Be ready to work for this for months or even a year, depending on your mind-emotions dependance of that gratification. Also try to find the emotional source of the habit, why is that habit there?, what are you distracting from? Also don‘t buy weed!, if you buy it‘ll be there haunting you haha Also check my latest post on this discussion section, might help. Hope it helps, much blessings
  8. So I‘ve been working on installing some daily habits the past year (day planning, clean sleep, not smoking weed, no fap, no sugar, meditation, reading). I used to keep track on a calendar on my journal which I checked or left blank at the end of each day, it really helped me to remind me that I was building those habits, because forgetfulness was a big enemy, I also noted how was I more in need of instant gratification (relapsing) when I was feeling down emotionally. Noticing the ups and downs of my willpower to make habits teach me how I orbit around the process of change. Anyways, this year I began not making that calendar nor checking if I did my habits daily, I wasn‘t sure why, I just didn‘t feel like doing it. At first it seemed strange and felt like I was not doing my habits, but I was doing them, just wasn‘t watching the checklist. By now I‘ve been succesfully doing the habits effortlessly, and a few days ago I noticed my mindset changed from “I am trying to do this habit“ to “I am like this, this is life now“. Noticing that was very insightful to me, I notice how me and many people try to do changes in their lifes, but that trying mindset comes with implicit failure, the same failure I was struggling with the past year. I suppose one does not simply get into de being mindset right away, I guess trying is part of the process of being, but knowing that I have to get into this mindset for future changes is really helpful. I also learned the degrees of commitment play a big role on habit building, one does not simply get into 100% commitment without getting ego backlashes, it has to build up, specially with habits that have been there for years and which are part of an emotional system (mostly instant gratification urges). Habit-building is the external side of the mental-emotional purification process. How was your process of learning the habit-building skill? I‘m 23 and on the first years of the self-actualization path, and would love to read your experiences
  9. Let's write some sort of bible and make it a cult!, maybe crusade in the name of Leo >:) obviously jk, keep doing the work and and kindly invite the curious
  10. Haha I never thought i'd fin this video here on the forum, I love his work and his practice approach. "Drawing is breathing" is a great thought on the experience of inmersion of drawing ?
  11. I'll quote from a book here: "Humility is not to percieve ourselves as beneath all things, but to be conscious of our place within all things. A devotion to the truth about us and our floating world". Hope it helps:)
  12. Reading about the Two Truths helped me a lot to understand many teachings, you can find it at Thich Nhat Hanh's "The Heart of the Buddhas teaching", or here's a post I found that kinda sums it up: Relative Truth Relative truth includes all the dualistic phenomena- ourselves, other beings, material objects, thoughts, emotions, concepts-that make up our lives in this world. These are sometimes called maya, or illusion, because we mistakenly believe they are solid, separate, and independent realities. But the problem is not relative truth itself, which is basically good, but our misunderstanding of its nature. That is revealed when we understand…. Absolute Truth Absolute truth is the reality beyond dualism of any kind. It’s also the true nature of relative phenomena. In Mahayana Buddhism, it can be called emptiness or interdependence. Thich Nhat Hanh uses the term “interbeing.” In Vajrayana Buddhism, absolute reality is also referred to as space, complete openness, or primordial purity. The two truths are what’s called a provisional teaching in Buddhism-helpful for where we are on our path but not the final truth. The final truth is that there is only one reality, and it unites the relative and absolute. Absolute truth is the true nature of the relative. Relative truth is the manifestation of the Absolute. --- With this I divided my mental map in two main branches, so I can switch between my relative perspective and Absolute perspective. Hope it helped
  13. Great book indeed!, good for starting on Buddhism
  14. A funny journal its okay, have one for jokes you hear, jokes you make, and funny things and situations that happen in general. If you want to grow your funny put more fun in your life, watch comedy shows like monty phython and other classics, follow funny web comics on social media (there's a lot of them on instagram), follow funny persons on twitter, watch funny sketches on youtube, and so on. Lose the fear of laughing your ass off, of getting crazy, of looking stupid, and saying dumb things, then you'll see what comedy actually means. Good luck!
  15. Hello Krishna, Its normal that your meditation is like that if you've only been doing it for two weeks, meditation is a practice and the more you do it the better it'll get. The first goal it to make it a habit, don't push yourself into getting in any special state or anything. Just sit there trying to be still, calm, and vigilant of all the sensations or thoughts. Your mind will wonder and that's OK, just try to notice when it is wondering and say on your mind "I am thinking" and maybe the thoughts will go, don't answer to them, only listen and they will fade away. Also don't focus too much on what you are doing when you are there, don't try to force your mind into anything, just be there. The important thing when you begin is to focus on doing it daily, be serious about doing it, make it a moment of your day, and with some time it'll just get better and better
  16. I would tell you to be honest with yourself and ask you some questions: - Am I really really happy? - Do I love my job? - Could I have that job for the rest of my life? - Does my relationships feel true and meaningful? - Do my hobbies make me feel alive or are they just an attemp to relax and escape from something? - What am I using my business for?, money?, security?, belonging?, esteem? - Does my business feel like its going somewhere amazing and world-changing? - Why are am I interested in spirituality?, self-help checklist?, security?, belonging?, esteem? - Why do I feel sellfish? - How would it be if I were more self-less, loving, and compassionate? You really need to sit down at least an hour a day and do nothing but contemplate this questions, be radically honest with yourself, and question your intuitive answers. Most of the times the problem is in the way you think about the problem, truly question yourself.
  17. In this book, professor Lisa Feldman Barret talks about a new, more holistic, theory of emotions and puts it in contrast to the classic view of emotions. Mainly, talks about how emotions are constructed by our mindset, mental model, and concepts, which get in between the experience by interpreting the sensorial impulses on a context. This 450 page book contains incredibly valuable information which, in my experience, have made every chapter mindblowing. I believe that this book is a great step for science to understand that experience is not objective nor conceptual. You can find it on http://b-ok.org for free as a PDF or you can find the book on Amazon for $20 dollars, an incredibly cheap price for the knowledge the book has. https://www.amazon.com/How-Emotions-Are-Made-Secret/dp/0544133315/
  18. When I watched the video I was like "wait, doesn't everyone does this!?", later I understood was dumb from me to think that everyone has journals. As a designer, I have the habit of journaling ideas, processes, drawings, and everything that happens on the mind; and all this year when I began with self-actualization I understood that my journal have to be even better and began journaling almost everything. I have found that doing that helps me being always aware of what's happening in the mind, and its great to do it as long as it doesn't interfere with being mindful and aware of the present moment (an excessive journaling and wanting to write everything can lead to over-conceptualization). Reading this thread and people's comments, I would like to share my way of journaling. My journal is based on three main things: main journal, creative journal, and emotional journal. The Main Journal is where I put almost all, I use Google Keep, which I find great but not as organized as One Note, but works on my mobile which I have almost all day and can put notes whenever they are developing on mind. I find Google Keep's #hashtag system very useful, there I have tags for journaling most things: self-actualization, book notes, class notes, contemplation, dreams, insights, ideas, daily journal, band notes, thesis notes, references, trips, etc. There goes mostly text, lists, to-do lists, images, links, and everything useful. The Creative Journal consists on a series of physical notebooks, a small main one I carry everywhere and others from specific design projects. On design is really useful to have these journals, because design is about the process of creation its essential to have a visual guide of how you've been working and what is leading you to certain creative result. On the creative journal goes everything related to the creative mind: ideas, processes, drawings, moods, maps, cross-pollination, inspiration, text, creative dynamics, and everything. Is something really fun to do actually. Journaling like this really builds up your creative confidence, design is about understanding process and playing with it to get to different results, so being able to get anything from your mind on a journal is very motivating. Lastly, the Emotional journal is about writing how I've been feeling along the day, I use excel to put hour-by-hour my emotions and also general daily moods, which I list day by day and create charts to see my monthly mood patterns. I have been doing this the last three weeks and its been kinda insightful, I'd be improving this system along the way. IMPORTANT NOTES: - Always remember to have a time in your week to review your journals. - Mindfulness helps this habit and having this habit helps developing mindfulness - Understanding and thinking in concepts, a really important thing in design, is really helpful to make easy and fast to write and read precise notes - Writing and mapping concepts and processes helps you be more clear about what you are doing and how you are doing it - I am planning to make a systems thinking journal, right now I use the creative journal for systems
  19. Hi, I also had many other things and books when I knew about this one haha, and had to wait a while to read it. Read it when you are relaxed. It has been interesting to be aware how my experience has changed while reading this book. Superficially, it has made me understand and fix my diagrams about life, and has made me be more aware things I am feeling in the present moment, and understand how that and my concepts create my current emotion on the context, thing that makes me understand better how my mental model system works. That is changing my conceptual view of myself. More deeply, they are showing a new paradigm, which is proved by science, about a new way to understand emotions. In a very realistic way, they are explaining how concepts creates emotions, the two who rule your experience; (knowing about the Truth) and learning about this new paradigm, I am more aware, and I can see my old paradigm getting crashed and a new way of experiencing life is being revealed. I haven't finished the book yet, but it just gets more and more mindblowing, had to share it.
  20. An episode about what imagination is; how to develop it in more that just visual imagination, but it awereness imagination; and how practicing this can help us develop a "children mind" and fight against ego by messing with our conceptual patterns.
