Easy there, grasshopper (to quote from Leo) Ups and downs are inevitable in meditation (especially with using the Do Nothing Technique). You need to learn to embrace them. Is anything bad in itself or something else makes them look bad? Try to contemplate this and implement the understanding you get from it.

@tsuki What are you exactly trying to say with this? Is all of spirituality completely backwards? Inner work is just a single step away from distraction into the direction of Being. True inner work is Unconditional Presence. @Arkandeus This is the exact same approach I take - Wu Wei / Action from Being, action from a place of no denial and repression. However, following your Joy has its limits and though I think that this is the most direct approach to take when it comes to evolving in the earlier stages of spirituality, it has its limits and I am becoming conscious of these. Become more aware of it so you can do whatever you wish to do with it.

Don't listen to and follow teachings which do not contribute to your Joy (Spirituality 101). There are stages to this journey and you can't skip them. You may have to experience your ego not being able to satisfy you before you get the authentic desire to face Resistance and Ignorance head on (Spirituality 2.0). If it's your authentic desire to do self-inquiry, do it but don't do it prematurely and not being open to all of the possible consequences. If not, go back and continue your journey. One time in the future, your curiosity may peak and you will venture into the unknown.

Stop rejecting your guidance system! Thoughts and emotions show you what you really desire. If you reject these, you will push away the needs you need to satisfy - learn to respect your needs and love yourself. But don't just believe me. Get in touch with your thoughts, your body, and your heart. See what happens. (I see that you received contradicting advice about this, test out both, you have nothing to lose) If you feel like you need to cure these thoughts, just do it (contemplation, shadow work)! You are the only person who can solve your problems. Even if you think someone else helped you (thanks @pluto for this pic ❤️): Maybe I give this information to you too early but I want you to have this on your radar so when your current practices aren't working, you will know what's the next step:

Real and fake growth isn't black and white. There are degrees of real growth. Any way to escape any problem (even if that's unconscious) has at least a figment of fake growth in it. Real growth is just being with it all - but not for the purpose of escaping your problems because that's escaping the fear of being with problems. Real growth allows you to choose something and the opposite of it without any Resistance.

@Sashaj Yes, we have to abandon everything in the end but you first have to own your your thoughts and emotions before you can truly abandon them. Use your emotional guidance system before the system itself shows it's limitations to you.

1. Awakening is the ideal life, but it is not a purpose of life. There is no purpose. You have to survive until you achieve enlightenment. You still need to get your basic human needs met until you transcend the craving for them. If you are super dedicated, you can go and become a full time sage but it's not a requirement. 2. True teaching comes directly from life itself. God takes form and teaches every second. You need to destroy your knowledge, not build it.

As Leo said, content is facts/truth. Context is a set of preassumed truths and assumptions in a given situation. For example, with the "man is jumping" example, most of you assumed that the man is jumping on the ground and the sentence isn't metaphorical. Changing the context only changes the relevant truths associated with the given situation. With this, we can see that the substance of context and content are actually the same. The only difference is that the content changes faster, however, some aspects of one's metaphysical context may not be exposed in one's lifetime. Context may become content and vice versa.
