  1. @Joseph Maynor It's a mere preference. I have a faint, non-compelling vision of becoming something along the lines of a sage. I need to do heavy work on vision, passion, as I said earlier.
  2. @DoubleYou Thank you! Aren't I supposed to meditate every single fucking day? The idea I like though, yess. Ironically, this insight came to me when I had an enlightenment-like experience. It was a time when I was into enlightenment which wasn't authentic, I didn't fathom the full consequences but I was like fckyeah, let's do this! @Ilya Got it, "What are labels?" added to my contemplation topic list! Woah! That's right! Thanks! I need to do heavy work on this. Thank you, guys!
  3. No, you aren't jerking your brain off when you contemplate things like time and reality. In contemplation - and thinking - you use past experiences which may not be present but they will create a good map in your mind (which of course isn't the territory). If you don't want to contemplate existential things, contemplation is still useful. You can contemplate things like virtue, good and bad, how a good life is created, happiness (which is crucial if you want to create it)... and even personal questions. It is useful for understanding (thus maybe gaining the ability to manipulate) almost ANYTHING. You need to have this in your toolkit.
  4. Nope, @Lorcan and I (and many others) are younger than you.
  5. Just found this one. Completely speechless.
  6. "but they tend to dismiss me by rationalizing , and saying that i shouldn't philosophize that much , i should be more realistic. For example in school , I try to convince my teachers that the way they teach is not leading to understanding but rather memorization of "facts" " You have two options: either you join a group in your class or you will be a lone wolf. Also, don't try to rationalize people into PD and self-actualization and the mindset of the work. You need to accept school as it is, learn for the sake of learning. And YES, there are other girls, not just her. So if she has a boyfriend, gtfo and try to search for and seduce another girl. If you want a girlfriend there is no reason to just wait for her.
  7. I sit in Burmese and I do recommend it for you to try. You will still have pain, but less intense. You need to build up to the lotus position with quarter lotus, half lotus etc.
  8. They/We will learn from our own suffering, @Ether, no need to cut their/our learning curves.
  9. 14 Watching Leo's videos, starting PD work. Before becoming a regular meditator, I did Zazen. It was complicated with alot of rules to keep in mind, it was horrible. After discovering the Do Nothing technique, I found it an enjoyable experience and I wanted to do it more and more. Wanting to try out something new and life transforming. Recognizing that it builds consciousness, which by default improves your life (I realized this after like 6 months of practice, not sure if this should be a reason why a beginner meditator wants to do meditation). That's why I am trying to develop a morning meditation habit - it makes the quality of your day skyrocket. Almost all techniques generate insights for me. There are so many techniques to try and experiment with. Even doing it without a technique which ends up generating a technique by itself. The best of luck!
  10. Holy shit, I start to feel like I am bullying you, @Ether. I am on the same opinion as @Source_Mystic. See the how egotistical this statement is. Why should we trust you? How do you know that this is true? It's fine to be egotistical, it's part of the path to feel like a special snowflake, making your views superior (this is where bullying and projection starts) and having such a low consciousness attitude. I can't blame you, I was there too. Increase the quality of "your" consciousness. Then you will see how fortunate you are to come across such circumstances that transformed you and you will respect other people.
  11. I researched this today and yesterday, here are my notes from my commonplace book: Meditate Ask infinite intelligence. You need to have a desire or definite goal in your mind (it's recommended to physically write it down). Infinite intelligence shall respond Self-hypnosis "Now when you feel totally relaxed, imagine a building named “my inner world” which is like a library which contains all your memories and now find the room where the mail are delivered. Get to this place and search for an envelope that contains the information you need. When you find it, sit in a chair and read it, this could be your next action step." Quieting the mind and listening to the heart Free flow visualization Imagine an ideal situation being in the present moment at let it shape itself.
  12. I am stressing this point over and over again under your posts, but why silent mind, why no attention to thoughts? Please answer this. If you want reality, it is already here. Yes, thoughts are the source of delusion but still, you are not the mind. You need to observe - not giving them no attention or disbelieving - thoughts as they truly are in the present moment. You will get reality that way too. Your strategy is unsustainable for enlightenment. You can meditate with thoughts still lying around. Another question: why do you want progress? If meditation is not worth for itself or the present moment, it's not healthy.
  13. That's why I love it. Flat out purification for ya. (Mental) "authenticity" is the source of (mental) purification. Keep going!
  14. You will be getting closer to Truth with each insight. Insights may influence each other. It is just the nature of the work. Keep going!
  15. @Huginn I simply couldn't get OneNote to work on my laptop, so I have done some research and found a software called Laverna. It's also available for Linux. It doesn't have drawing options and text coloring but it has literally infinite notebook depth.
  16. Leo did a video on the Do Nothing technique and SDS, also see Shinzen Young. You can combine SDS with the other two meditation techniques. And don't forget that awareness alone is curative. Observe the activity you are addicted to. The more mindful you are the better. Mindfulness meditation will train this.
  17. Daily morning meditation to raise awareness to avoid spiraling down into low consciousness. Build habits of high consciousness activities. Be connected to being.
  18. Awareness. Alone. Is. Curative. If you don't quit your masturbation permanently, you will suppress it and eventually will come back to bite you in the ass. Chip the layers away from the habit and observe the activity itself without judging it. If you judge it, observe the judgment. If you just want to keep up the practice, be in a comfortable position. I meditated laying down for months. Doing SDS sits and sitting in uncomfortable positions will build emotional mastery though. @Ether Dude. Shut up with your silent mind business. Not giving attention to thoughts may cure your social anxiety, but you will miss SO MUCH not being aware of thoughts. Contemplation is a life-changing habit. You suppress filters instead of working through them.
  19. This was the first time I looked into French music, wow. Allez!
  20. People, a "bit" off topic, I downloaded OneNote today (2016, from the original source), on my attempt to log in the "Sorry, we couldn't connect" message pops up. Couldn't find any good solutions, does anyone have one?
  21. Yes, I had a similar experience, but it was an obvious partial ego death. I felt like I was in everything around me. "my thoughts are like im egoic im doing this bad..." Looks like you take PD way too seriously and you never had an existential crisis or it/they was/were too weak. Just answer this: Why not be egotistical? Even if the thought is untrue, if it still effects you, you judge it on some level.
