Yes.. I am from India... Buddha is said to have enlightened under a Bodhi tree. But there is a better Bodhi tree than that. It is called life! -

He is brilliant... that's my point More than 3 years before, someone asked me a question about Sadhguru with a critical tone. It happened in my office and I shouted at him saying 'no one is qualified to talk about Sadhguru. You all don't know how great he is!'.... At least 40 people should have heard me shouting. Because I got really angry. And now you are reading the same person criticising Sadhguru. -

Yes it is true... Because he has a good communication and he conveys a lot of things which he understood from Osho... And he is also aware of two techniques: 1) Mix 95% of truth with 5% myths. The 5% myths are usually taken without any questions. 2) Repeat something quite often. People will take it for granted. It is called 'The illusion of truth'.. Then there is authority bias, confirmation bias, bandwagon effect etc. And all these effects occur in the long term without your immediate awareness. The unconscious mind can betray your conscious intentions.. -

@egoless Good! Keep listening to Rupert Spira.. He is direct. -

@egoless Don't confuse between two different things... Yes, it is very much necessary to be open-minded and you have no idea how open minded I have been in my life... That would be something that I suggest to anyone.. But there are also a lot of people out there who want to to do business by saying anything they want, taking advantage of your temptations... First, read everything I have written about Sadhguru open-mindedly. I have covered many things in many posts... After being associated with him for 15 years and after being open-minded to everything he said, there should be a reason why I criticize Sadhguru. If I had not been open-minded, I would not have listened to Sadhguru in the first place and bought Linga Bhairavi Gudi and Dhyanalinga yantra which costs about Rs.33,000! Also, try to see the whole picture. Because many people only look at one thing at a time. What I have written about Sadhguru has been very clear and very much convincing for many people. -

Are you reading this thread fully.. It is printed on the back cover of his book that 90% of people die.. And in an excerpt from the book, he talks about pegging down people. I had already given the link which shows the back cover of the book and the excerpt from the book: https://www.quora.com/How-many-enlightened-persons-has-Isha-Foundation-produced-through-its-methods/answer/Shanmugam-P-12 -

@Deep Question.. Why are you seeking enlightenment? What do you think it is going to do for you? -
Shanmugam replied to Saumaya's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes.. I prefer the word 'liberation' over 'enlightenment'. That sounds more correct. In fact, In Indian culture, it is called as 'moksha' which exactly means 'liberation'. Let us say someone sees a mirage in a desert and thinks it is water. He goes near and finds out that there is no water. He is, of course, enlightened of the fact that there is no water. But rather than calling it as 'enlightenment', I would call it as 'disappointment'... Because, he feels disappointed.. The sense of a separate self is also an illusion, just like a mirage. Once you realize that it is not there, you are of course enlightened of the fact that it is not there. But rather than calling it as 'enlightenment', I would call it as 'liberation'.Because he feels liberated! I have to use the word 'enlightenment' because it is more popular. No one recognizes 'liberation'... But the word 'enlightenment' also makes people misunderstand as 'knowing all the secrets about the universe'. Enlightenment certainly brings a lot of clarity and wisdom, but it is not a doorway to access some secret knowledge about the universe. If someone claims to have access to some kind of secret knowledge, it is better if he uses a different name, to avoid confusions. -

@Haumea There seems to be a lot of myths about spiritual enlightenment. And people always come up with such rough numbers like 50%, 90% etc.. .. One of the reasons could be something that I always say: Many things about spiritual enlightenment are generalized based on observing just a few people. -
Shanmugam replied to How to be wise's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Haumea Is it possible to quote what David Hawkins wrote about it? -
Shanmugam replied to How to be wise's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Faceless He is a guy from India who insisted a TV interviewer to call him 'Sadhguru', when the interviewer used his first name to call him.. His full name is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The word 'Sadhguru', usually written as 'satguru' in English, means a true or authentic guru. But Sadhguru defines it as 'uneducated guru'.. He thinks that he has the authority to change the meaning of a Sanskrit word, even though he admits he doesn't know Sanskrit. . By the way, 'satguru' is a title that is used for many great saints in India. People choose to call those saints as 'satguru' with respect. But those saints insist that the true guru is within. @Haumea Sadhguru says that more than 90% of people die at the moment of enlightenment. And he says that Kriya yogis are exceptions who fall under the remaining 10%. But the problem is, he also says that he has to peg people down when they are about to get enlightened; otherwise they will die! And the people who he is talking about are Kriya yogis (his own followers)! So, that means, no one actually gets enlightened before death. If you get enlightened, you will die! He also says that he has the desire to enlighten the whole world. .. I have actually tried this.. I can't really find something in specific which can be pointed out as an 'I'... -

@Ether thats unexplainable... Don't think of it as non-stop happiness.. Non-stop implies that it is something which is not natural.. I find that word a little odd. It is the ever-present peace, happiness, fulfillment, and freedom. It is your true nature... Try to recollect the earliest memory you had in your childhood. Go as early as you can remember.. How did it feel like? My experience is very close to that. -

How long has it been since you know Sadhguru? I have a long story in my life about many things that happened from 2003 to 2017, which is related to Sadhguru. Read this: https://nellaishanmugam.wordpress.com/2017/12/12/why-do-i-criticize-sadhguru-jaggi-vasudev/ -

@SOUL When I write lengthy posts, I always keep in mind that it will useful for whoever reads it. Some people may resonate with it and some may not... If you know that they are just assumptions about you, that's fine and good for you.. :) .. I have in fact talked about many things in that post. And I have indeed mentioned in that post that as long as you feel peaceful, free and your seeking is over, nothing really matters.. -

@egoless He has said that many times.. In fact, that is the meaning he gives to the word 'Sadhguru'. He says 'sadhguru' means 'uneducated guru'.. But actually 'sadhguru' means 'true guru.' I agree that some of his best videos have many good insights, which comes from Osho. If you just explore more of the links I gave you, you will understand many things. The Quora answer itself has many links. The question about Osho has raised by many people to him, and he always acted as if he has got nothing to do with Osho. Watch this video where he denies having read anything, right at the beginning of the video. -

I have been interacting with the author by email for a while.. Answering your question right away will be an injustice to the author as well as to you.. When he recommends the best organization, you need to first understand why he recommends it, and that is only possible by reading the book. That is the whole point of the book. In my recent email, I mentioned a few quotes from his book and asked him if I can quote those quotes in a review of that book I am going to write on my blog. He mentioned one quote from that and told me that it would be better if I don't mention it. He gave me the following reason: I want the reader to experience that quote when he's reading the book because it comes after a very specific part and in continuation of what was being said. Many kriya yogis will reject at first instance when reading such a quote. Yet, in the way it is said in the book, following an exposition of some techniques and so on, they will be more open and will probably understand better and have the insight that indeed the quote is true. Trust me; I know kriya yogis too well... I totally agree with him... Anyway, here are the other quotes from his book: "The Guru is the Self." "Self is the one and only Guru." - Lahiri Mahasaya, Spiritual Commentary on Kabir "The yogic key will not lose its efficiency when I am no longer present in the body to guide you" "Attune yourself to the active inner Guidance." - Lahiri Mahasaya, Autobiography of a Yogi "I am not the Guru, I don't maintain a barrier between the true Guru (the Divine) and the disciple." - Lahiri Mahasaya, quote from Kriya Yoga Synthesis of a Personal Experience “The manner in which Kriya Yoga is usually taught is not the best for dissolving your false identity and recognition of being God. It has too much emphasis on techniques. Techniques end up being the goal instead of the means. One must understand that techniques are used to reach one stage. Once you get there, you must let go of the technique itself. How many practitioners have we seen that are so attached to techniques that they can't clearly see that the techniques are actually bounding them and preventing from going further?! Kriya Yoga is a means, not the goal. “ -

@captainamerica You actually have to read the book.. :) I assure you that it will be worth it... So, start with 'Kriya Yoga exposed' if you want. The author has explained many things in the book. Just giving answers to what you said will be totally out of context... -

@captainamerica I have read another book 'Kriya yoga exposed' from the same author. I can tell you that he is very genuine and also writes things with good clarity... -
Shanmugam replied to How to be wise's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
He is quoting verbatim from Osho and that is a fact... I have very clear evidence in another post that I had linked there... But copying or plagiarism is not a problem here... Read what I have quoted below... He is trying to promote a religion, justifying everything that is said in that religion and calling as spirituality... Let me quote a part from that answer... Now, please note that I don’t care much about plagiarism or copyright. Those are trivial things. My emphasis is on two things in general: Sadhguru stated that he never read any scriptures. He even stated the same thing in Mahashivarathri 2018. That is how he began the discourse, insisting that he in fact never read anything about spirituality. But there are obvious examples which I have written about, that shows that a lot of his content comes from Osho. So, if he has read Osho’s books, he must have read other books too. This explains why he is stating stories from Shiva Purana and even Periya puranam (A Tamil book). Because, he has read them all. This signals a pretense. What is the need to deliberately hide these things? Anyone can talk such things by reading books. If you read 20 - 30 Osho books and get some intellectual clarity, you will sound enlightened, even if you are living like everyone else. You will talk wise things but your mind will be with the same kind of conditioning. Because of this, you will also end up saying things that comes from your own conditioning, beliefs and likes and dislikes. At the end of the day, you will end up misleading people instead of guiding them towards enlightenment. Osho warned about this many times, saying that this will be similar to a blind man leading another blind man. ................... There are many other things... It is impossible to summarize all that. Read this post to start with: https://ksmphanindra.wordpress.com/2017/11/02/the-controversial-death-of-sadhgurus-wife-vijji/ Take your time to read it fully and try to see the whole picture of what is said -
