  1. @Artimus What option did you have? By not saying anything you contribute to evil and sickness in the world and for what reason, that is a chain cast to your soul. Denying that maybe worse than accepting it. You say sweetest, but what do you mean by that? What exactly can he hate about you, if he hates your honesty, you do not have a relationship.
  2. @Artimus If he got away with rape, what's stopping him from doing it again, becoming addicted to brute force violent domination. If you'd said nothing, you would have regret and how much more guilt? What reason does he give for it being your fault? Why should you think less of yourself, what values are in Nathan that your self esteem should suffer?
  3. @Artimus Too abstract? Is there anything you feel you could do to not feel guilty? From the last paragraph you're implying you hurt Nathan, when from what you said it was his brother. The criticism wrongly being on you instead of their own actions, how is blaming you making things better?
  4. @Artimus I remember Leo saying once "The pain of unconsciousness is massive." I think many people are aware of events where a road traffic incident(not accident) occurs and people are seriously injured, but act as though they are conscious, this is no way excuses them from previous detrimental actions and especially the conscious and very specific application of force. Don't feel guilty. From what you have said imho, appears self evident, to be forced against your will. You are going to be despised, for as long as his relatives and associates, avoid higher consciousness through the use of depressents and do not confront the suffering of yourself and the false relationships they thought they had with one another. Guilt and innocence are imho often associated with higher consciousness. Perhap try reading Aristotle to work out what a friend really is. Maybe someone could recommend other authors.
  5. Essence precedes existence; the nature of a thing i.e consciousness takes precedence to that it is. Notice that this is the opposite of Sartre, which is good only for satire, and bloody humour, basically the same thing, literally crazy. Either that, or collapse the barrier between worlds, to enter zen. Inspired by Half Life (Considered to be by many the best puzzle fps pc game, so far.....)
  6. @zoey101 Talk to someone impartial.
  7. @brugluiz Could try a witchdoctor. probably more impartial. So does a person, lose the sense of self as an independent entity with schizophrenia? Is it similar to the movie "A Beautiful Mind." based on John Nash.
  8. Personally I think meditation occurs naturally in an unaddicted or unattached state. Else, tie yourself to the mast odysseus style.
  9. As a thought experiment, "I"(thought) thought of the idea of a perfect circle or sphere. Would either the centre of each them be infintensimally small as to not even exist, or the edges so smooth as not match with physical reality. (Maybe like the movie the Sphere) One reason I think Objectivism is incorrect, as it emphasises the intellectual instead of the actual. At some point the inconsitency must be resolved, I would say this occurs in consciousness. Or a line, at some point the line ends, it is or it is not. End of the Line..... Although if someone manages to rip a hole into another dimension with their QM course. Good Job. Other than space flight (and then not even then mostly) why do QM, something to BS about I guess.
  10. @Moreira They both are the true self. Might be like a super Ego that mediates between the two halves, using a morality(really herd instinct, therefore not universal or morality) that is innate. Personally I think it is possibly better to try and unite the two halves. As opposed to further seperating them, supressing one expressing the other. Speculating though. The other coming back with a vengence much latter.
  11. @brugluiz What happens with schizophrenia?
  12. Remember a career is a "wheeled vehicle". Could always go Thug Life, GTA style, intentionally(as opposed to unconscously) focus on all the low conscious behaviour stuff. Waifu made me think of the cartoon for some reason. "Waif". If someone offers you a bottle be like yeah. Your wife's milk!!! Unless they're taller stronger and can kick your ass.
  13. @jivvie Why 5 Years? Couldn't you bang out a website in a few months. When you say poor, what sort of area are you targeting? Western Poor? Rural poor? 3rd World Poor?
  14. Vegetable. Or possible Enlightenment, maybe a mix.
  15. I disagree. Get pumping. Go nutts! 1) Maybe if raised "well", children can contribute to the environment. Plant trees, get some wood?(much of Europe was deforested, some of it only to be replanted with pine), develop technology. Colonise even the very depths of the occean, space and the earth. 2) What does a human need? Cleanliness, Food, Water and grudgingly Social contact. I'd say heat as well, though the penguins seem to manage. 3) No children = Biological (Life Purpose) failure, 500 Million years of evolution ended. 4) Odds of Enlightenment, miniscule, MINISCULE!!!.(National Lottery Odds, probably Han Solo). Brood of offspring to comfort you in old age, much more likely. 5) Caring for another's children is little better than caring for pets. They're not yours and any traits, acknowledgement and temperment will vary more widely. 6) Any population crisis in the absence of a settled enlightened populace could be resolved, with only mass bloodshed and suffering. Purge Style and then only more in the cities. 7) Ever see the movie "Species" Well yeah, that should be your goal, in the absence of course of any self defined goal.
  16. Exactly. Kind of like. Paradise Lost. "The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven."
  17. Yes even chance works within limits. Trying to work with smaller blocks, QM just seems to be a magic word. Different shading of language and the limits to what the mind can concieve of. Too addicted to Ego for that. Would prefer to look for ways to shore it up.
  18. @Leo Gura I suppose that's correct. Science is knowing and chance is not. Trying to construct something solid. I wonder how someone might drop the concept of chance all together.
  19. I think QM is a fancy way of saying chance. Now how to deal with chance, as I personally hold it as a concept, no idea.
  20. Down the rabbit hole, one way of putting it I guess. hmm I wonder if there's any meaning in that the rabbit goes in holding a watch. Painting the roses red..... Sounds like a lumberjack's worst nightmare.
  21. Yes talking to others is important, helps gain perspective on things. Though to really understand "warts and all". Something else entirely.
  22. @zoey101 Sounds like you have a lot going on, maybe peace of mind, might be more valuable than understanding. A person can drive a car, without understanding how it works.
  23. Might also be different for a man as opposed to a woman, so the story may seem less familiar. As men are often judged more, imho on their feelings. Hence why the guy retired to somewhere out the way. Not sure what an equivalent story would be for a woman, anyway possibly best to not think too much on it.
