  1. Owehh... That's a stinger. Ace quote, thank you. Where did you read it from, direct from the texts?
  2. Muhammed Ali "I ain't got no beef with no Vietcong, ain't no Vietcong ever called me nig***". Maximum Enlightened. Not sure about the Master part being old cassius. Score board stuff seems worse than dumb, makes me think of a quote from a book within a game (Deus Ex), "Jacobs Ladder". Where if you do 100 things wrong you can go to heaven, but a 101 sends you straight to hell.
  3. @cetus56 You said they could stop it, so wouldn't stopping it be a question of cost?
  4. I guess it depends on the person, or maybe lack there of. If drowning do you swim/struggle to the last breath, or succumb before the surf.
  5. @Valach Tell him once you're better you'll go talk to him in person, spend a day, to talk things over. Do it even if he says he's fine later. Write stuff down so you can help your friend out, maybe help put his mind at peace. If he continues talking about suicide afterwards, tell him, you can't be his friend anymore.
  6. @Maycol I started listening to it on Scribd recently, is there anyway it could be better than a 9/10?
  7. Maybe something like Tomb Raider, and not some generic boring middle-old age mother targetted show. Sell the Fantasy Or Reality.
  8. @Max_V There's a book "What is life?" by Erwin Schrödinger. Might find it interesting. Haven't read it, but heard it recommended by Dr Peterson......
  9. Not that people can't think for themselves, more something deeper in their and my psyche. "Then biting the hand that feeds you, or them".
  10. @K VIL I'm not sure. Need a fresh mind. Maybe Big Daddy will come to the rescue. Have a few ill formed ideas, and impressions. Haven't watched most of the video so I'll do that.
  11. Art

One big meta-philosophy of Art. Probably be ace if some right brained person broke it down or more fittingly explained through their work. More analytically what is there? Impressionism, Expressionism, Romanticism ?????? Video games can be puzzle orientated in which case I wouldn't call that art, Or convey ideas, impressions. Communicating in another language hard enough presumably, but how does one convey the various shading in English, except perhaps for poetry? I think google sometimes does a pretty poor job on definitions.
  12. @K VIL Deeper then that.
  13. Unreliability.
  14. Sentimentality.
  15. @Pilgrim Need a base to build on. (Not dismissing infinitism, though) Too many abstract generalities, no content to connect with. Blown out the airlock, myself. Like in some movie where the astronaut is tethered but spinning. Maybe consider chatrooms, as in audio. You ever play cards at school at all? Atmosphere is important like if you're travelling around staying at hostels, can generally get talking to different people. In similar or radically different situations. Though if you genuinely want to talk about values, or god forbid politics. Kind of a laser sight on your forehead, don't break a sweat if you can. Massive Ego investement, which needs to be PAID!!!!! one way or another. One thing I find helps is. Check your Ego when posting online....(Workout a story, wait, feed your EGO!, whatever). Just because someone has many posts doesn't mean you should feel you have to invest. Opportunity costs. Apologies if I upset you with my initial post.
  16. @Leo-Tzu @BjarkeT I would say Ayn Rand "Introduction to Objectivist Epistemeology". BUT! With one caveat, disregard the extreme Dogmatism of Objectivism. Better armed with a pickaxe, than just your fingernails. Yeah it's unholy, but useful, hence the caveat. Thought that George Orwell "1984" was quite profound and well written. The double think phenomena left me puzzled like the protagonist, until I read Spinoza's "The Ethics" and realised it's real. The double think phenomena conferring perhaps a great advantage, not sure about the cost though. Eckhart Tolle "The Power of Now". I think has much value potentially, later in life. Eckhart was influenced heavily by Carl.G.Jung. Though probably not going to sway many conservatively minded people, talking about Enlightenment and period blood. "Psycho Cybernetics" If he only knew the power of the darkside!!!" I thought was a very good book. Probably will listen to it again on audible, sometime. I thought Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise by K. Anders Ericsson, was a good to OK a book. talked about mastery in Korean GO players and World Chessmasters if I remember correctly. Preferred "Thinking Fast and Slow" By Daniel Kahneman ( Though could have been edited of anecdotes for brevity) Didn't think much of Cal Newport book/s though, listened to them a while a go. Got most of my audiobooks when they were on sale on Audible. Started listening to "The Genius of Being" Peter Ralston, on Scribd. Sounds interesting so far. One minor note, I think David Bowie was heavily influenced by Carl Jung, sure I read that somewhere. Kind of random but.......
  17. LOL. I guess if you got the green, join any cult you want. @lmfao Can feel the vibrations EMANATING!!!!! The background tape makes all the difference!!!!!
  18. How does one JOIN!!! a cult... Where do I get the dagger, robes, nymphomaniacs etc. Technically in a cult already, society in general.
  19. Pondering.......... (Bring me cheese for my cheesey lair, we can share) Yes or No. I have noticed many similar recent threads, although was thinking about it a while a go. Being a fairly prominent concept? maybe there are books purely on Yes & No......... Surveyor: Are you male or female? 1) Answer: Yes, it's is probably true anyway you have an XX or XY chromosomes. 2) Answer: No, the question is logically incorrectly stated, it should be an XOR statement. Else hemaphrodite. 3) Answer: Apache attack helocopter. (Helisexual) "What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other word would smell as sweet." By saying no, do we infact affirm all that we know including the yes? In contrast by saying yes, do we in part affirm the unknown? The very notion of saying yes or no, contains the notion of it being otherwise? Looking at the etymology of the words No can be "Nihil" (Nihilism). Where as Yes, can have the connotation of "Make it so". An instruction in itself.
