tyler7415 started following OCD advice
-
I've had OCD for about 5 years and I am still unable to let it go. It hit it's peak about 2 years ago and it's gotten lesser since but I have not been able to let go it absolutely. And when I have managed to let it go, I am obsessive about it and forcing myself to be mindful 24/7 in order to not resort back to the compulsions. My default mode is very compulsive so I find it very difficult to not be. I meditate daily, have gone through lots of therapy, live healthily, and have a good life. However, this is the one big thing I haven't been able to overcome. Any advice?

Both these videos are comedy and satire. I still don’t understand what is meant by bullshit..

Doctors and medicine help a lot of people though. Disease may come even with prevention.

How are doctors and medicine bullshit?

I experience something similar. I often have changes in direction in my mood. I don't understand the thoughts that come up. I have very fucked up thoughts (involving brutal death, rough sexual thoughts, murder ect.). I have OCD. I am obsessed with certain thought patterns that I have. I have also thought that it is levels of consciousness fluctuating. I constantly tell myself to let go. My advice to you, given my own experience, would be to be nonjudgemental to your natural thoughts and actions (as hard as that might be), and to let go of your concepts or mind as much as possible. Also, start thinking for yourself, fuck what Leo says if your taking what he says on faith. Think about what reality is for yourself.

How would one accept, let go of, and resolve extremely strong negative emotions and experiences that are based in trauma experienced in childhood and teenage years? Ive watched Leo's videos and other peoples videos regarding this topic but I still don't know a real solution. When I choose to let the emotions out, I find myself bipolar, and mostly out of control. Ive done therapy although I have an extremely difficult time opening up. Im going to do more therapy in the future to resolve this. Can anyone recommend any solutions to these types of problems. Thank you if you respond.

Dude the way your approaching this is creepy. By trying to make guys like you and be your friend your manipulating them and being disingenuous. Notice that you're avoiding telling the guy that you are trying to engage him and become friends if he meets your criteria. This is similar to Leo's critique of the pickup community when he says that Pua's avoid telling the girl that theyre trying to pick them up or that they are using certain techniques/methods on them. To answer your question of how do you engage a man. There isnt right or wrong way to do it. Theres only a right or wrong way if you have an agenda which would imply that your using this person as a means to an end. The solution is to just be honest with people. Instead of trying to hide the fact that you wanna be friends, just be authentic with it. Pragmatically, socialize with the guys at activities and events that you go to. That would be something similar between you that you can relate with.

Smartphones are functionally amazing. Just use it responsibly and don't waste your time on it or become addicted to it.

You're a young person. I would focus less on your contribution and more on making yourself a highly developed and conscious person first. "Let him that would move the world first move himself." -Socrates. Once you are strong, you can help make others strong. Invest in yourself and then you will know what you wanna do, and you'll actually be able to contribute that.

Whether you become enlightened or don't means nothing. If its all nothing and pointless though, so why not have the best experience possible which is probably the pathless path. These enlightened characters are seemingly conscious enough to recognize the unnecessary suffering of others due to their true understanding of reality. Therefore they're simply offering alternatives to people for living a more fulfilling life. -

Thank you for the responses but let me rephrase my question. How do I know that I'm getting closer to truth hood or closer to falsehood. Cause when I answer a question I contemplate, how do I know that answer is of greater or less understanding. -

I have been contemplating for about 20 minutes a day for the past 6 months and what I have come to realize is although I can explore, I cannot come to any conclusion. It's just speculation at the end of the day. For example, I hear Leo saying if the universe is finite, than there must be a limit making it finite..whats limiting the limit..and ect. However, I mean how can one even say a limit exists to make it finite. These assertions are just projections on what we think makes logical sense. Our logic could be completely flawed. I've gotten to the point where all knowledge is neither correct or incorrect. It just feels like mental masturbation. Isn't contemplation just speculation?
