Look, I know "exactly" who you are and what your past member usernames were on this site, before being banned, more than once. So, sell your delusional crap to someone else. To me, it's just comedy central.? -

As I said....delusional. -

Hm, I see, so you are spelling off pronunciation. Okay I didn't say you "were" mad at me. I said you "can be" mad at me vs being mad at @Inliytened1, since I'm the one that brought it up, not him -
Ananta replied to Inliytened1's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Well, that too, but sometimes leaving the delusional to figure it out on their own is the best course of action. -

Actually, I brought up the spelling, not @Inliytened1. Frankly, just to correct the spelling of Advaita, because seeing it written as Adwaita was making me cringe (same as buddha, being written as buddah). So, you can be mad at me, it's ok. -

@abrakamowse Gotcha, I had found him 3 yrs ago. I read his book also. He has tons of email Satsangs on his website shiningworld.com , if interested. They are really good. Trying to read both books is a tall order..lol. Good Luck. -

Anyone interested in learning Advaita Vedanta from a teacher who has been teaching it for 45 years- James Swartz. Here is a link to YT 16 part series for free. If not, that's cool too. *Tap the three lines at the top left for additional videos. -

@abrakamowse Your welcome! ? -

Yes! ...I'm rusty. Hehe "The subtle body is referred to as the “inner instrument” and is composed of four different components: the mind, intellect, ego, and memory. Though what Vedanta specifically refers to as the mind is only one component of this “inner instrument,” sometimes the whole instrument itself is referred to as the mind. The subtle body is what is the closest equivalent to what is commonly called the soul." -

I understand that's the pronunciation, but it's not the correct spelling. David was spelling Buddha, Buddah earlier and so I assumed he isn't spelling correctly, because he doesn't know how to spell it. Maybe he just spells as he's pronuncing....ok. Btw, the spelling is Sanskrit -

Hi! You are probably thinking of the "subtle body" (In Vedanta there are 3 bodies: the gross, subtle and causal bodies). Yes, atman is the portion of Brahman within/ through the gross body. In Vedanta, God is called Isvara, which is awareness or Brahman "with" attributes. However, Brahman/Self/awareness/absolute is "without" attributes, it's nirguna Brahman, meaning without the gunas (energies). So, there is a distinction made, but it's complicated and can be hard to fully understand. -

Yes, you are correct. I didn't say otherwise. I also don't have or follow a "religion". -

Hehe (the word) I do not know much about Buddhism, except the use of the concept of "no self". The term "nothingness" being used instead of "awareness" (for the absolute), which is what Vedantin's use. ...and some 8 fold noble path, but I don't know much about it. Maybe right speech, right thought or something. Haha So, I would not be much use discussing Buddhism, unfortunately. -

You have misunderstood. My post was regarding Advaita Vedanta, not Buddhism. So, I was objecting to what you had said regarding Advaita, which I'm assuming you actually meant "Advaita Vedanta", since Advaita only means "not two". Perhaps, give my post a second read? -

Hi there, A few things, first it's not Adwaita (as David has been saying), it's Advaita. I've been cringing each time it's been written. Also, I think he and you have been meaning to say Advaita "Vedanta", because Advaita alone is a Sanskrit word that translates only as.. “not two” (So, not Self/Brahman/Absolute and a world). Vedanta in Sanskrit means the “end of the Vedas”. Veda means "knowledge " and "anta" means " end". It applies to the ancient text the Upanishads, which were elaborations of the Vedas, being the end knowledge needed for liberation. You are also confused when you talk about what is taught in the Vedanta tradition (NOT religion!). In Advaita Vedanta the absolute is also called Brahman/awareness or Self (capital "S") that has no reference to the small "s" self (in Buddhism) or the ego. As far as the mental process/ego/self (small "s") Advaita Vedanta teaches that it IS illusory and not real, although it "apparently" exists, as it is experienced in the moment. I would suggest not making sweeping judgements about traditions you don't have any extensive knowledge of, as it's misinformation. Ps. In Advaita Vedanta the term "awareness" is synonymous with the absolute/Self/Brahman. -

I've never heard anyone call listening to music an addiction. Maybe Id say its a preferance instead. I think music can be relaxing and enjoyable, it also doesn't hurt anyone in my opinion. If 1-2 hours is too much for you to consider that "in moderation" for your lifestyle, then simply cut the time down. Anything else you're calling a minor addiction. I would ask the same question- is it being done in moderation? And is it hurting you or others? Ps, I quit a long term nicotine addiction out a few years ago...now THAT is an addiction. It was being done from morning to night and definitely hurting the body. -

Most things done in moderation are fine and not a problem, unless one is in some way hurting yourself or others. There's no need to cut out music, if you're listening to it in excess, then reduce the time spent to moderate use. Problem solved. -

(*David Hammond said the above quote) This is about the silliest thing I've ever heard.? What about the thought, "has it been 48 minutes?" Hehe ....Damnit, it was 46 minutes, have to start over again! Anyways, you are misspelling Buddha. It's Buddha, not Buddah. -

It would take some serious talent to keep his head balanced, so that big ass weave bun doesn't fall off his head. Also, that's the largest Indian dot between his eyes that I've ever seen! ? -
