It has been said that you really must want enlightenment, although your comment there is more on the side of "why bother wanting it, only if you have a worthless life." If I miss interpret I'm sorry.

Do you remember when Cypher secretly betrayed Morpheus to Agent Smith in exchange for a return to a comfortable life within the Matrix? Did you not wonder how someone could choose to live a false life after knowing the truth?

I've always had an extremely active imagination and a lot of random thoughts, but since I've been listening to Leo's enlightenment videos, I've started to wonder if glimpses of things are something else, such as when riding my motorcycle getting a fleeting glimpse of the scene from the perspective of a flock of ducks flying over my head across my path and I can see myself down below. -
Most models of reality have to keep one foot in practicality. This isn't a model. It's hard to keep remembering that.

Lets hope that people who have conquered personal problems and addictions don't find these irrelevant when enlightened. Ok I realise my ego is being negative for some reason as a write this but it is a valid question no?

I think the poster Anlib may mean can you get out of a trance like state.

OK, well I'm not enlightened, but here is my 2 cents... Life evolved inside the oneness of what we call enlightenment, and developed strong survival mechanisms including the ego which does everything it can to maintain it's own existence for the survival of the being. Seeing past your own mind reveals the backdrop of reality as it really is.

It seems pretty clear to me from people's comments that there are experiences which the ego goes through in meditation and it has effects and then there is something else entirely which changes the person completely to such an extent the person cannot look back or even commit completely to words what has happened. -
Someone said to me on this message board "You will find a way" which is very reassuring. There again, talk if this technique and that technique and which is best, this works or this doesn't, I find has the opposite affect and makes it sound complicated and a bit "hit and miss."

I know Leo has had an amazing result with the Forum, and all the sign ups therof, but I would think many people aren't in the right place at the right time to make progress. I happen to be in the category Leo classed as one of the most difficult to ever find enlightenment, I grew up in a high control relgion / cult, so he probably doesn't reckon my chances, but actually, having spent 20 years peeling away the layers, I'm absolutely ready for a fight and hungry to peel off some more. -
I've always said that there. Drinking for me isn't a problem... It's running out of drink... hehe

Yes, but you must take what I posted in the context of this thread. Obviously people watching Leo's enlightenment videos are largely new to enlightenment, and Leo has chosen a certain way to explain it to us in a fairly simple way, so he uploaded a video, the most shocking truth, and tells us "you don't exist" and the discussion here is how we felt about it. Obviously there are lots of nuances to come later.

I've never correlated thoughts with the senses to be honest. You can have a hallucination in one of the senses, not necessarily visual, and this takes on form as if it were a sense, however it's very different to the shape of a thought. -

We don't want literal explosions in that lab Sigma. -

We may not know anything, however the path to Truth necessitated doing something and we had no choice in this. -

Finding the self - specifically about the vid The Ultimate Model Of Human Knowledge Heeeey, Hello all. Firstly I would like to say what a great video it is, "The Ultimate Model Of Human Knowledge". I've watched this video 3 times in the last week and need to see it again. If anyone hasn't seen it, it is along the lines of the Enlightenment videos but something about his one struck a chord right through me. It maybe that it brought some other ideas I had together I had learnt from the other videos before it. It's funny that if you listen to it, Leo says, "at the end of the day it's just another **** world view", but then in the write up after declares that it is in fact *not* another world view. Are you, Leo, in fact saying this is a short cut to enlightenment or are you saying that there is something else even more profound than enlightenment itself? (hard to believe after telling us it takes 100,000 hours to reach enlightenment, but there seems to be something else coming through in your words.) So... about dissolving the self. First you need to find your "self". In another video Leo mentioned the mind is like a canvass onto which thoughts appear and in this video he likens it similarly to an amoeba like thing with beliefs spread around on it (klein's model of beliefs). I'm trying to find this self but I realise that words can't find it nor thoughts themselves. Does even mental imagery possess substance that prevents ultimately the dissolution of the mind? In fact these things may be counter productive. So I might have found the file (?), trying to use it too hard fails everytime. In my mind I see it as a key that needs to slip through another dimension and finding it seems so difficult. Just a few thoughts of mine.

OK, well, not getting too hung up on the number of hours, I might as well tell you what happened to me. Leo, in one of the early Enlightenment videos, you make the statement "You are not real" and somehow I was hypnotised, or allowed myself to be hypnotised by you for a few seconds (I may be easily put into this state maybe), so that my mind completely believed that there was no self. In that moment that only lasted 5 or 6 seconds I saw or felt light coming down from above and touching me in the most amazing way. I really didn't believe I had a self for that time, but the ego came running back. And unfortunately, although one of the posters above says that once you see it, you can never loose it, unfortunately I have lost it, and all I have is the memory of what happened. Maybe this will explain to you why I am hooked.

Well thank you. If anyone had any specific thoughts on the video I mentioned that would be great.

Drinking is good for a while, but like all things the body becomes accustomed to it, and although subtle at first, after years of drink your body needs the booze just to feel normal. This will happen to you even if you don't consider yourself a real problem drinker or alcoholic. So do it, go and enjoy yourself but make sure you know where this thing sits in your life and what it's limitations are. This is the best case scenario for someone with no addiction problems. If you have addictive personality, you might need to make other life choices.
