Thanks Chris, I will give some of the ideas a go, I had my best results yet today. I think generally I'm too pressured to get results and in a hurry and a little thing is telling me I might actually make amazing progress, eventually if I can just get going.

Hey this thread is really good. I am getting restless or bored 10 minutes into any meditation and really find the tips above useful. I will try harder to put the time in, I keep lying to myself that I don't have the time, but Leo could look on his logs and wrap my knuckles because he could see I'm spending at least an hour a day on the forum. When I do try to meditate, I'm just in a swarm of random thoughts and feelings all over the place, and I'm hoping this will settle down with practice. But here's the thing why I am replying: I am thinking all day constantly about this whole subject and revelations about my past and shit that is happening is constantly churning up all day long. It's like I'm rubbish at the meditation but it's still working. And I'm actually changing as a person, mostly for the good, some a bit more strange.

It's a bit like saying "Why is a sentence true"? The premise is wrong. -
Right at the start. But I am aware and awake and have been becoming so for some time. However Leo's videos and this forum are focusing my mind more than ever, as before totally unguided, randomly meandering thought processes.

Thanks Pierre I started seeing something, but so slight, it still made me laugh for some reason. I'm at work though so I have to try later. As I said in some other threads I'm completely hooked, but not able to put in the real work at the moment and when I do I tend to exhaust quite quickly.

I left a very close knit almost cultish religion and have spent many years riding myself and peeling away beliefs taught to me from a very young age. The journey into this field is especially challenging as one thing I was taught, for example, was that to open your mind through meditation was a sure way to let demons in. I have to battle this, and one such way was me to verbally deny god, or God. I hope that doesn't upset anyone here, but I felt it strange that as I don't believe in god anymore, I still found I could not verbally deny god, so I had to challenge myself to do it. In fact, since listening to Leo's video, even though I don't have a lot of time to put the work in in terms of thought and meditation, loads of shit has become apparent to me about reality and me, and my past. Something comes up from the sub conscious every day, because, although I am not putting in the hours I should be in meditation, I am thinking this through all the time. What I wanted to say about the subject is that I know of other people who left that religion behind, and they had a religious experience that changed them. Some religions call it being "born again." I've seen it change people in a good way. I am guessing they have gone through some personal experiences similar to those we discuss on this forum. Some such ones have gone back to reading the gospels and have interpreted Jesus' words in a totally new light after such experiences and I too have reflected on this.

Any tips if you are hyper-analysing it. I'm over thinking whether what you are doing is just a metaphor for something like the "no-ego" rather than "no-self" or thinking you are just giving an illustration of perspective.

I take it the idea is to provoke an experience that creates understanding? I can tell you are onto something, there some feeling, a little, but no where near powerful enough for me at this time.

I'm not really sure.

You do not exist: -
The observer?

Thanks for not keeping me in the dark about that.

Like waking up first of all, from then on you can become more and more alert as you go through the day? -
It's so many things, my answer would change depending on when you ask it.
-
But it's all about those things on this side. At some point there must be a transition where you leave all that behind, and yet the thing is so slippery.

You want me to say "Mr EGO" and then you can say, "This ego will never understand..."
-
A thing in the mind of the ego is what I meant.
-
Yes, but I know Enlightenment itself is a "thing", we've been warned of that already.

Is this why Leo talks about the cake with the file in it? What is it exactly that can't be said? Ar, you can't tell me right?

Sorry for the little outburst, but sometimes something looks to the senses like a religion, or sounds like it and a large part of my life was spent peeling away religion.- 23 replies

I think Leo calls it "traction" in some of his videos. During my life I occasionally get the thought "I actually exist!" just occur to me randomly without meditation of any kind, and it's the feeling which accompanies the thought, which I describe as "mind expanding" which is the main form / substance of the feeling and not the thought itself.

I'm not sure about this. My initial response to the question would be that the ego is extremely important to survival of the creature and probably runs right back to the smallest of brains.
