@BeginnerActualizer I have not had great success meditating, and just switched to concentrated contemplation with my eyes open and had some immediate exciting results. I may need to go back to meditation at some point, but this was so amazing I have to just keep trying what happened before for now. Maybe it could help you. I have to add that it wasn't even a deliberate plan to switch, it's just in hindsight I realised this helped because I was to dozy in meditation when what I need was the opposite.- 17 replies

OK, I'll give you my 2 cents but bear in mind I don't know much about these techniques. But common sense would dictate that if you have been doing this for some time and it is neither providing you insights that can help you, nor is it purging itself out of you but just is a constant source of negativity for you, then you should seriously consider what you are doing and why and ask yourself what is the overall benefit of it to you. It sounds to me that you are putting yourself through something very similar to a night-mare over and over. -

I understand SDS helps many people, but where did the idea come from? From Leo's videos? The reason I ask is this forum is so disjointed and confusing that one is left with a very random set of ideas. I said I want to go away and read so and so book - and people say it's like I'm giving up, go away read book, never get anywhere, but sometimes a bit of structure could be useful. -

@Leo Gura OK, but when people say "read between the lines" and in one of your vids do you remember saying, "there's a cake with a file in it to get you out of prison", it's almost like it's essential for the reader to work it out for some reason, or something else... -

OK, yes but above we are talking about "achieving enlightenment" so we are not talking about the end point which is impossible to describe but the process, the kind of step on from meditation techniques.?@aurum -

On the one hand I'm thinking there was way too much chatter in my brain for this to be a major leap in meditation but on the other hand, it's a very "real" experience and amazing. The predominent thoughts or chatter during it was that, "wow but I'm not even falling asleep. I could do this meditation now and I could do it forever." The reason for this thought is that I am constantly struggling at different times of day with falling asleep instead of meditating. Another thing, is that just before doing this strong contemplation into what I call the "observed and the observer conundrum", I was going through some other thought processes along the lines of; It's not me that can bring about enlightenment because I don't exist. It's actually that other part of me that is already enlightened. And I was thinking on this for a few minutes until I wanted to "get out of the part that is me, to the other bit that is enlightened" and when ever I think this it takes the form of a fight. Then moments later I got onto the topic that I mentioned previous.

I'm going to come back and do some research later and look up what you said, but I have to rush and finish my work right now. Especially all I should have been doing while staring into infinity.

Why is this? Why is there a kind of "veiled" truth? -

SPOILER ALERT! Yes you heard it here first! Next weeks Video... Leo enters a whole new world and becomes... "The Internet Itself" after meditating with some high dosage psychotropic drugs and becomes the one and only... LAWNMOWER MAN! -
At first I was a little bit shocked to see Leo's videos on psychedelics. I watched them in reverse order because that's how I found them in my mailbox so I got the full instructions first and then Leo's experience and reasoning in the first video afterwards. I think the reason for being shocked is if you've been following Leo for some time, you know he is right at the top of his game as regards improving your life in nearly every direction. I think I can't be the only one who knows a few people who's life is completely down the pan because of various drugs of differing types and my other half's work revolves partly around this, helping people, and some of these people are embroiled in a life long struggle they will never get over. One of her clients even decided to jump off a tall building to end the addiction and now lives with no legs, addiction, plus now waits for his daily meds which he is also addicted to. Now, I'm not a prude when it comes to drugs and have tried most except the most dangerous, plus I've never tried LSD or mushrooms. However, most of the time I spent taking drugs was the same reason I took alcohol, and that was to self medicate, or try to escape my head as if I could just set myself free of the "hell." I did some drugs in a really bad way, setting my heart thumping, not sleeping for days, even had a conversation with this really nice guy sat in my room, and when he got up and left, I realised it was another me, chatting to me. The real reason though that I couldn't really try shrooms though, is not all what I just said, or that I'm too afraid, but simply that my other half of 12 years who I love very much would not agree to it and would be scared. And I love her and understand how she would feel. I'll interject here with a random thought that my business attached through a door to my house has a large number of deadly chemicals, and the thought occurred to me, Leo said get all the dangerous shit out the way - impossible for me. Was he really going to eat that stuff he found on the bathroom floor? :0 hehe Any way, I digress. I think what Leo does is attack his subject from every angle. He truly wants to free people's minds. Leo - correct me if I'm wrong. He comes in sometimes to the exact same conclusion but using either different techniques, but sometimes a completely different reference point. And to me, the psychedelic videos, is another point from which he can try to free people. I'm still starting out, and when I was last on the forum a few months ago, someone said to make sure you are in a good place when you start this meditation seriously, and I was right in the middle of a big house move. So I have moved now, no excuses. Shan't be doing LSD just yet though. hehe

@Deep It sounds like you had a realisation and made a break from it, as opposed to all those that *know* they are in an unsuitable job and continue running on the hamster wheel for a lifetime. So good for you. However... I'm not sure how you can confuse this with enlightenment, because for that we're all expecting to see a whole mind blowing new world. Still, what you did must have been extremely liberating!

I might not have an answer for you, but I want to know please, when you say "experiences in the past with what it is known as astral projection or lucid dreaming", have you been following a particular methodology, or book, or group and learning how to do this or just something you practice on your own? -
Now I'm not saying I wouldn't ever try the drugs, and since this thread was posted Leo did the interesting "God" video. Mearly that, some people, are finding a spiritual awakening, even if only a small part, and it can seem at odds with the drugs topics (even if this is due to previous conditioning or whatever). To explain further, Leo even has us eating salads in previous videos, i.e. get healthy. So my body is going from being a *temple* (don't take this too seriously the way I explain things) to taking the cheap option; drugs. Secondly, when you are talking to people who haven't tried psycodelics, they haver their own experiences in life, maybe other drugs as a frame of reference. For example, *someone* took amphetamine solid for 3 days and flew out of their armchair and up through the roof and could see all the insulation and bits of fluff in the ceiling and flew back into the chair scared out of their brains. But on the come down, do they believe they left the body? No, they believe they completely f**ked their brain up and the boundaries between imagination and reality were blurred. The brains functions, instead of being enhanced were actually breaking down. You have to understand they haven't experienced what you have. I just want to elaborate on this point about the brains functions breaking down. It could be argued that the brain has a function within it, structures and software if you like, that create ego, and the function of the ego is to separate us from infinity so that we can fight for survival on this planet. If our brain kept tripping out every minute so we could admire infinity, it would be great for our predators. So these brain functions are pretty solid, and the drugs are causing this function to break down. It could in contrast be argued that the meditative approach is more of an "opening up" of the mind with a learned ability to see it's function. You could counter argue that this is a moot point because the drugs enhance your ability to do the later. Fine, but others may view that approach as taking a sledgehammer to the brain without complete understanding of other side effects. All of this is meant to contrast one way of thinking with the other. Thirdly, these people may not ever be able to follow Leo down this path due to family / partner reasons, because they will have the same hang ups about drugs, and the person concerned could only do it in their home environment where their kids are for example so you open up a lot of practical issues.

As someone who has the same problem, this has the effect of causing mini sleeps with awakening over and over because the skills are not fully developed yet to watch thoughts, so watching yourself dream is more difficult and not practiced.

That's why we have to be already enlightened and not going anywhere, because other wise the whole ruddy thing is just a big outing for the ego. -

True, and yet the rich man has to be willing to leave it all behind when you sacrifice the ego. True? -
Metaphors and meaning from Genesis - where to start? Needs it's own thread. The apple was from the tree which represented the "Knowledge of good and bad", the Ego? But there were two trees in the Garden of Eden and the other one was the tree of life. Use your own conclusion...

Mikey, I was brought up as a Jehovahs W. from a very young age. The indoctrination is so strong, you are taught over and over that you have an open mind when this couldn't be further from the truth. There is a phrase we have here in the UK a real mind f**k. It's taken me a couple of decades to be able to start meditating, and just as you say, now when I read snippets of the gospels online, and Eckhart To;;e refers to Jesus in his books, the words mean something totally new to me. They might as well be the opposite words to what I was reading before. I am in a state of being open minded really now, not putting anywhere near enough time into meditation due to time constraints, but extremely positive and have been listening to Leo from the word go. He says in one of his earlier vids that religious cult members are going to struggle the hardest. I'm here to say it can be done.

It is a point of fact that some modern religions teach meditation is "letting the Devil in", so not a knock on Christianity as such. I've had to break through that programming and indoctrination first, before I even could get to start meditating where I am now, a beginner. I even had to deny god in my own way as a necessary step for me.

Interesting topic. When you read them all one after the other, it sounds a bit like someone who's just been prescribed Lithium lol. I had a simple dream many years ago that I looked out into the back garden of my childhood and saw in the dark of night and blue light in the garden of extreme intensity. And I went to pick up that blue light and it gave me a clear head freedom from pain, clarity of thought, I could breath, I could feel confident of who I was, and I had the freewill to surrender. This was a true dream I had and I was kinda hoping I could find it in Enlightenment one day. -
I have Tinnitus. It doesn't bother my meditation because during meditation I am completely unaware of it. It's so strange. Other times of day it bothers me a lot. If you were to hear my Tinnitus as I do, you would think it was a real problem for meditation, but I decided if it ever did bother me, it's something I could actually focus on (like your object) but thus far I haven't had to do that.

OK, a little brain teaser then, if the alien descendant can travel through time then how can he be on a history trip due to the historical record being "lost", surely no history is ever *lost* when you have a time machine. Why would you chose to go back and interrogate humans even though he knows they are basically stupid, and what about the good old problem with causality and affecting the course of history by flying straight into it? He seems to want humans to avoid their impending doom by explaining it, thus jeopardising his own existence. -
Effect of New Video - Guided Meditation Hi there, I did put this comment under the new video, but decided to create a thread on it. Firstly it was a great video. And this was my comment, "Did anyone else start grappling with themselves when instructed to surrender, I just wanted to fight. The mind was on disturbing events that happened when I was a 5 year old boy. But I did manage to get back on track." And further to this I'd say, am I supposed to confront painful memories? Surely if they haven't gone away in all these years, replaying them in meditation will do no good, or is it the fight / struggle that is the important thing? I really appreciate your comments.
