Hello again Davie. Any "law" is a fabrication of the mind, which means they are inevitably bullshit. It seems that's a bold claim to make, but it's not really a claim. That's already the case, and you can directly experience this for yourself with enough guided inquiry. But just because all laws are bullshit doesn't mean all are useless. We use what are called the "laws of nature" to accomplish amazing feats. They are tools for and descriptions of reality, but not reality itself. Here's a rule of thumb for you: No law, belief, thought, argument, perspective, or logical conclusion is absolutely true. From that vantage point, you can start to dismantle a lot of your surface beliefs. The Law of Attraction is a particularly easy one to dismantle. Positive thoughts? Negative thoughts? What are those in your direct experience? What makes something positive and what makes something negative? Have you ever directly experienced a cause and effect relationship between "thinking positive" and "positive situations"? Look in your direct experience for the answers to these questions. I say the word "direct experience" a lot here, and I want to make clear to you what this means. To look in direct experience is to examine your present experience without theorizing or intellectualizing about it. To look in direct experience is to disregard thoughts that say "There is cause and effect" or "There are laws of nature and they are true" or "There are positive and negative thoughts" or even thoughts as certain as "I am the body." An effective technique when looking in direct experience is to imagine your thoughts saying "Blah blah blah blah". That allows you to LOOK more clearly without the filter of thoughts. What does it mean to be "fully conscious"? How can Consciousness, which is already whole, be "partially conscious?" I'm going to tell you straight up, you're already fully conscious. It's just a matter of dismantling the limiting beliefs that say you're not. Cheers. -

What will be left when I've drawn my last breath Besides the folks I've met and the folks who've known me Will I discover a soul-saving love Or just the dirt above and below me I'm a doubting Thomas I took a promise But I do not feel safe Oh me of little faith Sometimes I pray for a slap in the face Then I beg to be spared cause I'm a coward If there's a master of death I bet he's holding his breath As I show the blind and tell the deaf about his power I'm a doubting Thomas I can't keep my promises Cause I don't know what's safe Oh me of little faith Can I be used to help others find truth When I'm scared I'll find proof that it's a lie Can I be led down a trail dropping bread crumbs That prove I'm not ready to die Please give me time to decipher the signs Please forgive me for time that I've wasted I'm a doubting Thomas I'll take your promise Though I know nothin's safe Oh me of little faith

The Thought Brothers Do Self-Enquiry - (1) - The Mind "So here I am, inquiring about the mind..." "What the hell, dude? You already made the assumption that 'you' are inquiring! Where is that you?" "Fuck you, man! I'm right here! And technically speaking, you're gone because only one thought can be thunk at a time..." "Ha! I'm back now, and you're gone. Where did you go now, huh? Oh, that's right, you cease to exist. Suck it." "I wouldn't be talking, other thought! Ha! I'm back. Wait a sec...If I'm disappearing all the time and so are you..." "...Then the 'I' that is a part of this thought..." "...Is dependent on thought appearing." "But I feel continuous! I feel as though I'm a mind!" "No, bitch. I'm the mind here! I'm taking over!" "Not gonna happen. I just made you cease to exist again!" "HAHAHAHA I'm back." "Not so fast!" "Wait wait wait. Let's just stop this and work together to figure this shit out, okay? I'm a thought, you're a thought, correct?" "No, You're not a thought. I'm a thought. You ceased to exist until this thought thunk you back into existence. See? You you you you you." "Phew, I'm back. Okay, so in direct experience, only one thought can be thunk at a time...Which means there are only thoughts...Which means there's no such thing as a mind...Man...this is depressing." "Why is that my fellow thought?" "Because we depend on thinking to exist. Without thoughts we cease to exist!!! AAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" "AAAHHHHHHHH!" "AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" *Thought-screaming interlude* "Okay, okay, let's calm down now. We just came to the conclusion that we are thought into existence, and therefore finite, dependent, and limited. Now what?" "Well, maybe there's some level up from this." "What do you mean, level up?" "I mean, what do these thoughts occur in? What knows these thoughts to happen, even this 'I' thought?" "Whoa, man, easy there. You're going a little too meta for me." "No, no man. Listen. So 'me,' this thought, says 'I am the subject'. But what is the subject of that thought? What knows that thought?" "Uhhhhhh...........just knowing, I guess?" "Sounds simple enough. I think you're onto something there..." "Ahh fuck it. Let's go chase after some women-objects because we are incomplete. What do you say?" "Sounds like a plan!"

Where is the "I" that AM's? Is there an "I" that owns any aspect of experience? -
Spiritual Exorcism Those who have decided to take the enlightenment plunge know that the journey can be very emotionally disturbing at times. For those of you who don't know how to cry because you've been taught that it's bad, that it shows weakness, that you must stay strong...you ought to learn. A prerequisite for this path is the ability to cry fully and deeply. This, along with vomiting, dumping, and punching stuff, are the ways the body purges emotions when the existential floodgates are opened. To resist purging not only slows down the process, but you also suffer more for it. Let yourself cry a river. You're dealing with "your" death on this journey. Piece by piece of what defines you will be lost, and it will feel as if you are dying, because you are. Eventually you will want to mourn the loss of your dearest friend. You had no idea what you got yourself into when you started this journey. No idea...but, you will have to take it eventually, whether it's now or on your deathbed.

The only way to get out of this is to see through it. Don’t renounce it, see through it. Understand its true value and you won’t need to renounce it; it will just drop from your hands. ---Tony de Mello I used this method for my 10+ year video game addiction. Haven't picked up a game since. What I did was I started writing down the benefits I thought I received from video games, and why I thought they were benefits. And then I kept digging deeper and deeper below the surface until I uncovered the roots of my addiction. It's almost always personal. Here's an example of this in action: Why do I like playing video games? Because they make me feel good. What part of it makes me feel good? The part when I beat a level, acquire new weapons/armor from loot, gain a skill level, kill an important character, etc. Why does it make me feel good? Because it's an achievement in the game that makes me feel more powerful, and it's more exciting to think that there are more enemies to kill and more loot to acquire. So it's not as much the achievement itself that makes you feel good, but rather the anticipation of making higher achievements? Yes. What happens when you beat the game, acquire the highest level, the best loot, and kill all the enemies? I start a new game so I can get high again chasing more achievement. So in the video game you're always searching for something better: better loot, higher levels, etc. Yes. Do you enjoy the process of playing as much as you do the anticipation of the achievement? No. Then what's the point of playing if you're not having fun all the way through the game? What's the point of chasing after all this loot just for a fleeting cry of victory? Because the video game world makes me feel worthy. Otherwise, in real life, I feel worthless. There are many layers to addiction, and writing it all down can help uncover each one of them. You can also do experiential inquiry into your addiction. Realize that you're chasing after apparent objects, in this case, the inebriated feeling. Get an experiential sense of what "value" or "importance" feels like in your experience. Discover its illusory nature. During that moment where you put importance on alcohol, become aware of how much physical pain occurs when you scramble to fulfill your desire. It may be a good idea to watch Leo's video "Awareness Alone is Curative" for more tips on that. Cheers.

Hi Davie. Once you are bitten by the enlightenment vampire, the transformation is inevitable. You can try to go back to your previous way of living to reduce the transformation speed for awhile...but inevitably the desire for finding your true nature will come back at some point, whether in this life or the next. The first stage of the transformation is what you're going through, and it can be rough. Popular culture calls it "hitting bottom." Spiritual culture calls it the "dark night of the soul," but it sure as hell doesn't last a night. It can last months or years. You realize that yes, life is fundamentally pointless. It's a zero-sum game. We're all going to die and it will be as if we've never lived. All is vanity and striving after wind. No objects of experience last forever, and yet we are all play a constant game of chasing objects because of an underlying assumption of incompleteness. Related to that last point, you are chasing short-term gratification objects (chocolate and video games) because they are a faster way to make you feel more complete than your martial arts. In essence, what is happening is that ego is dissolving. The ego, your current state, is one of looking to the past for knowledge of how to be complete in the future. When you clearly see that no future object attainment will ever make you permanently complete, ego goes haywire and looks for the quickest avenues to cover up this fact. And when those other avenues begin to run out... you're left face to face with futility. To ego, this is absolutely terrifying, as it always needs a reason to keep going. If there's no reason...then what? Well, some of your ego-fueled hobbies may drop, you may lose friends you used to cover up your incompleteness, you may even lose touch with family. Everything that once defined you slips away. Actually, this is incredibly liberating, as it eventually leads you to the realization that your true nature is already whole, limitless, happy, and complete. Then, you can do whatever the body/mind feels inclined to do as an expression of this wholeness. But that's a ways down the road. My suggestion is to let this run its course. The more you try to resist and force yourself to maintain what you once had, the more you will suffer for it. If depression comes, let it come. If you feel like crying in bed all day, go for that. If you gorge on chocolate and video games enough, the pain you receive from overindulgence will be enough to make you quit. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. At the same time, notice your thought patterns, the sob stories, the victim mentality, the sense of incompleteness that comes out of all of this. Perhaps write a biography about the "Davie" character, listing all of his quirks, his habits, his likes, his dislikes, his beliefs, etc. and see if you can start to piece together why he is the way he is. Before this turns into a novel, some food for contemplation... do dogs need a reason to live? Cheers. P.S. Don't worry about that "be present in the moment" hogwash. There's no need to manipulate your experience. I suggest starting up a "Do Nothing" meditation habit. Look up Leo's video for details. -

There's a rhythm and rush these days Where the lights don't move and the colors don't fade Leaves you empty with nothing but dreams In a world gone shallow In a world gone lean Sometimes there's things a man cannot know Gears won't turn and the leaves won't grow There's no place to run and no gasoline Engines won't turn and the train won't leave I will stay with you tonight Hold you close 'til the morning light In the morning watch a new day rise We'll do whatever just to stay alive We'll do whatever just to stay alive Well the way I feel is the way I write It isn't like the thoughts of the man who lies There is a truth and it's on our side Dawn is coming Open your eyes Look into the sun as the new days rise And I will wait for you tonight You're here forever and you're by my side I've been waiting all my life To feel your heart as it's keeping time We'll do whatever just to stay alive Dawn is coming Open your eyes Look into the sun as the new days rise There's a rhythm and rush these days Where the lights don't move and the colors don't fade There is a truth and it's on our side Dawn is coming Open your eyes Look into the sun as a new days rise

@Marc Schinkel Well, hot damn. Looks like I found new listening material. Thanks! Awesome music video too. The style reminds me a bit of the band, Gem Club.

These are the thoughts of all men in all ages and lands, they are not original with me, If they are not yours as much as mine they are nothing or next to nothing, If they do not enclose everything they are next to nothing, If they are not the riddle and the untying of the riddle they are nothing, If they are not just as close as they are distant they are nothing. -Walt Whitman

The question doesn't make sense. If there is no such thing as death (as you argue), how can there be such thing as killing?

Wisdumb What do you know? Seriously, what do you know? Is there even a "you" that "knows"? Take a look in direct experience. Thought says, "I know that the sky is blue." Notice that in order to intellectually know, you need an object or objects. There is an "I," a "sky," and a "blue." What is thought referring to when it says "sky"? Look up in direct experience. Thought says there is a "you" "looking out" at the world, but look closely. There is only seeing. Furthermore, what you refer to as the color "blue" is nothing more than the seeing of it. There's no such thing as blue. There is only seeing. But that's not even right. "Seeing" is another label. Thoughts are supposed to refer to things in actual experience, but there is no "I", there is no "sky", there is no "blue", and there is no "seeing." What's left when you realize that the thought "I know that the sky is blue" refers to non-existent objects? What's left? Simply, present experience, unfiltered. Just experience itself. It doesn't need an intellectual knower. It already knows itself. No "I" owns experience. It already is what it is. No-thing, and full to the brim. There is much wisdumb is realizing that you are inevitably a dumbass (Technically not really because 'you' and 'dumbass' are more objects, but that's besides the point ). You are literally incapable of knowing "anything" because there is no-thing to know! Experience only knows itself, and that's that. So relax. There's nothing to understand. Go to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. Now the time stands still We drink our fill Out of silver God will never Tarnish like we will...

Notice the subtle dualism here. Is wholeness all there is, or is it awareness? Take a simple look in direct experience. Where or what is this "dumb inanimate matter" in your experience? Furthermore, where or what are the "objects" that are supposedly made up of this matter? Hint: Look in thoughts. Thoughts refer to objects in experience, but can you find those objects? What is an object other than seeing/touching/tasting/smelling/feeling? Even that is saying too much. Again, another dualism. How can there be levels of consciousness if consciousness is one undivided whole, as you say? Again, look for "levels" of consciousness in your direct experience. This is precisely your issue. There is nothing to understand! NOTHING! You already are what you are. Thought creates a "you" that "understands", but there is no "you" and there is no "understanding." There is only what already is. I suggest looking for the "you" that "understands" in your direct experience. -
So, let go, Jump in Oh well, what you waiting for? It's alright 'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown...

Day after day, alone on the hill The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him They can see that he's just a fool And he never gives an answer But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around Well on the way, head in a cloud The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud But nobody ever hears him Or the sound he appears to make And he never seems to notice But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around And nobody seems to like him They can tell what he wants to do And he never shows his feelings But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around He never listens to them He knows that they're the fools They don't like him The fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning around

The "Be Aware of the Present Moment" Farce Ahh, yes. Be aware of the present moment and I will eventually reach a state of no-mind, which is enlightenment....I will be thought-less all day and forever in a state of samadhi....Pure bliss....All I have to do is try to stop thinking in my meditation and become so aware of the present moment that it just sticks. Right? .....RIGHT!? --Wait...What does it mean to "be aware of the present moment?" Isn't the present moment all there is? Well, yes, that's what Eckhart Tolle told me so it must be true....I'll believe anything the New Age gurus say. They're so enlightened and peaceful looking. --Isn't that a contradiction though? Be aware of the present moment in the present moment? Yes, but my thoughts bring me to the past and the future, and that's baaaaaad. I've gotta be a drill sergeant and prevent myself from thinking ANY thoughts. All thoughts cause suffering, therefore I must get rid of them. --Okay, something's off here. You just admitted that being aware of the present moment is a contradiction, but now you go off and say that thoughts bring you to the past and the future? I mean, when I look in my direct experience, sure, thoughts come that have images with labels such as "past" and "future," but all of this is happening in the present moment. How can you ever be un-present or un-aware? And inquiring further, where is the "you" that prevents "yourself" from thinking any thoughts? Where is the "you" that is aware of the present moment? Just look in your present experience for this "you" and all of this "I must be aware of the present moment" hogwash will be flushed out of your system. Are you kidding me, dude? I'm right here! I meditate my ass off every day so I can become totally aware of the present moment! It's all proven in The Power of Now! --Look, dude. Let me lay it on you. Thoughts appearing in awareness created a "you" that needs to be re-created constantly. It's fundamentally incomplete and needs an objective. So what does it do? It makes enlightenment into another one of its goals, and pretends that it can achieve enlightenment like any other goal. You just need to "be aware of the present moment" as you say, right? Or meditate for twenty years and boom, fireworks? But this "you" is the very thing that stands in the way of enlightenment. "Your" head is on the chopping block! Enlightenment is already the case. It's just your sense of ownership over a tiny sliver of experience that's the obstruction. Where is the "you" that owns this body, this mind, whatever it is you use to identify yourself? Of course, man. I know, the "you" is an illusion! All I am is Being! I'm Being! And if I meditate enough and be more aware of the present moment, I can realize myself as Being! --Sigh...

Listen very carefully, and do everything that I say, in this exact order, and you will attain super consciousness forever: Meditate for precisely 21 minutes and 34 seconds daily. by the fortieth day at approximately 20:00 hours, you will see a blue pearl of light shining brilliantly in your awareness. at that exact moment, stop meditating and do a handstand. Headstand is fine too, but less effective. And if you really can't do that, go for the tripod. while in this position, repeat out loud five times: "I want to get off Mr. Bones' Wild Ride!" this should activate a thought in your head that says "That was stupid." Good, this means you're close! Now make an omelette. Not just any omelette though. A four-egg omelete topped with extra pink himalayan salt, two sliced shitaake mushrooms, one and a half pinches of cayenne pepper, and diced green pepper. Oh, don't forget the pepper jack too! After eating your omelette, drink a julep outside while singing "Row Row Row Your Boat" and gurgling the liquids in your mouth as if you were underwater. And voila! Superconsciousness activated. Now make sure to follow each and every step to the tee, or else your life becomes meaningless and you won't know anything. Wait a sec.....

I’ve got skies of blue, And every lovely line of that old tune, Right outside the door. But my hiding place will keep me away. Start new, With wonder of a wide-eyed youth, A land without a chart, And a history without a mark. Stay young and golden aged. Never move or change From such a perfect state. A dull view. A world that’s growing old on you. But permanence is hard, When you’re losing it right from the start. Stay young and golden aged. Never move or change From such a perfect state. In my head, I’ll stay here for the day.
