  1. If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe. -- Carl Sagan
  2. If you do 20 minutes a day instead of 10, you will have meditated of an extra 10 minutes! Simple as that. For me personally, I like 2 back to back 30 minute sessions. I find 10 mins too short, 20 mins is probably "enough" for me, but 30 mins is just right. I don't meditate every day. Sorry, I don't think there's a specific answer that you might be looking for. You really just have to experiment and find out for yourself!
  3. @Serotoninluv I don't think it's even really a standard chemical nickname, just a convention used for the LSD variants. The proper IUPAC names for these are hard to read! In case anyone cares, there's also: 1a-LSD with an acetyl group in the same position - (1 carbon + double bonded oxygen). It is also called ALD-52 1b-LSD has a butanoyl (did I get that right) substitution - (4 carbons + double bonded oxygen) All of these 1a, 1p and 1b are considered "prodrugs" of LSD, so they behave similarly in that the substituted bit cleaves off in the body, leaving behind LSD. You might ask what about 1v-LSD which would be the vinyl group - 2 carbons and the double boded oxygen. Apparently that substitution either can't be synthesized, or else the molecule would form a useless polymer. More interesting than these 1-sub prodrug substitutions (IMHO) are the 6-subs which are actually distinct drugs rather than prodrugs. This series includes AL-LAD and ETH-LAD. LAD is synonymous with LSD. Where LSD/LAD has a hydrogen methyl at the 6-position, AL-LAD has an allyl, and ETH-LAD has an ethyl. (Actually you could call LSD "METH-LAD", but then people would be really sketched out because it sounds like "meth lab")
  4. @Draconis Chaser I don't know the details of the situation you're in, exactly how boring the work is, or what opportunities lie ahead, but I'll tell you this: almost any work will feel like flipping burgers at some point. You may be in a spot where you have to pay your dues at the bottom for a bit before you can move on+up to more interesting and rewarding work, make sure you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater by outright rejecting your present situation. Try to look at the big picture, where you see yourself in a decade and how best to get there. If you're in a PhD program and making a bit of money while you're doing it, ie not going further into debt to further your education, that's generally a pretty sweet place to be. In 10 years will you regret completing your PhD?
  5. @Serotoninluv it's not a phosphate but a propionyl group (3 carbons, a double bonded oxygen and some H), but same idea - it gets cleaved off in the body and turns into normal old LSD. Some people claim it has a slightly different onset profile, which is possible since it's onset might be delayed due to this metabolic step of cleaving off the 1p bit. On the other hand it could all be in claimants' heads, since the cleaving step might happen immediately in the gut or bloodstream . I'm of the camp that says it's exactly the same, or if there is some difference it's negligible and irrelevant. TL;DR 1P-LSD is the same as LSD (but it's probably not illegal where you live) what a beautiful time we live in
  6. @MsNobody Would you microdose LSD on a vipassana retreat again, or do you consider this experiment over? Nice drawings. I especially like your sketchy figures and the yin-yang skulls. The vagina brain was cool and funny, what an image!
  7. Not specifically dating material, but Way of the Superior Man by Deida is relevant for the masculine side of the picture. (As previously mentioned by others in this thread!)
  8. @ivankiss Surfing is absurdly difficult but there's nothing like it. When you begin to get a taste, there's no turning back. You're in an amazing place to learn right now! I get the impression that Sri Lankan waves tend to be a goldilocks zone of being quality, yet not too advanced, and un-crowded. I'm really jealous of the food you must be eating. Sri Lankan and S. Indian food I've had in restaurants is so amazing..! I hope to make it there one day.
  9. Do you surf? It's a good lone wolf sport. I hear good things about the surf in Sri Lanka. Maybe in the same way that you you over-bromanticized your bud you're now over-detaching, as a polar response? Does it have to be all or nothing?
  10. Sounds like you're mostly eating really well and heathy! Get rid of that shitty junk food you're already aware of being a problem. Pizza isn't the best food either but some is fine, moderation is key. If you're looking to gain, as you know you need to eat more, and more, along with continued workouts, and make sure the food is quality! Sweet potatoes, brown rice, legumes, dark green leafy vegetables, eggs (in moderation), berries, peanut butter are all really great healthy sources of nutrition. I eat a lot of white rice, whole grain breads, (plain) yogurt, pasta too - stuff that doesn't get medals for being optimal nutrition, but I really like to eat and feel good in my body. Maybe you can increase workout 4-5x per week, and/or add some cardio (running, swimming, cycling) in there? Doing cardio can make your gains come more slowly, but they will be better gains with more muscle less fat, plus it's super healthy for your mind and body to hit that side of fitness.
  11. Directly confronting people with a conversation with an undertone like "You're unconscious, I am more conscious than you, you should be more conscious too" could never possibly go well. It smacks of judgmentalism, and you literally have no idea. A person could be very consciously conducting the negative behaviour you mentioned. Even if you are correct in this judgement, you won't win any converts like that. Going around with an attitude that you are more conscious than other people is ironically a very low consciousness activity. It means you are judging and comparing yourself to others, and connecting your ego with the identity of being a Highly Conscious Person. However, if you disagree with someone in your family's specific outward behaviour, and you think you see a better way, I think it's more than fair to call them out on it, and try to have that discussion (let's face it, it will probably be emotional and become an argument, but try to keep it on the discussion side). It was hard to read your post @Fountainbleu in the future could you use more paragraph breaks?
  12. It's not a bad/good thing. Like many aspects of nutrition it's a question of balance. Your body needs sodium in order for your nerves to fire, without it you would die. In the modern world it's way easier to have too much salt than too little, and most people consume far too much salt. In general people should drastically reduce their salt intake. Like Lister said, you can get all the salt you need from whole foods without needing to add it to your food. OTOH, if you're careful with it, cooking with a little bit of salt isn't going to kill you. It tastes nice, and especially if you're active, you'll excrete it efficiently.
  13. @Javad I've always put the blotter between my gums and my lip, above my teeth along the side. It would be about the same on or under your tongue, but it's out of the way tucked on your gums. The logic is that it should go into your bloodstream faster this way, but a lot of people say it doesn't really matter and you can just swallow it. But it's my tradition and I stick to it. It takes a very long time to dissolve because it's thick paper, eventually you can just swallow if you get sick of it. The taste is a good sign. If it's just a small corner it's norma that you won't feel any effects, especially if you've never done it, you won't know what to look for and it will be hard to pinpoint the effect. How did it go?
  14. @TheAvatarState it seems to me to be up for debate if the NBOMes are orally active. I recall there were a few reports on bluelight where someone experimented with this and claimed to get effects from carefully swallowing it - and even encapsulated in gel caps. Personally, I wouldn't risk it and would just spit it right out if it tasted strongly bitter. You're right though that there is some danger in misinterpreting the taste of ink on the blotter even if it's real LSD. I guess the right answer here is that you should test your tabs with a proper kit.
  15. I think you can facilitate the emergence of empathy in children, but it's not something you can teach directly like the way you teach the alphabet. I've done a bit of reading about child development, and also from my own experience (I've got a couple of little kids myself) it seems to be a natural part of development that begins to emerge naturally around 5-7 depending on the kid, and continues to strengthen as you get older. I think you basically just have to wait and be patient with them, and be there to support it and encourage it when it arises, and model it when it does not. That's my understanding anyways. Who knows though, parenting is anyone's guess really
  16. Stay the fuck away from opium, you don't need any drugs to to come down from LSD, especially opium or any other opioid. You can carry it in your pocket it will be fine. Just don't store it somewhere hot - or sunny - keep it in the cool dark. When you eat it, try to handle the tab by it's edges and pop it in your mouth. If it's really bitter, it might be fake acid, you should spit it out ("if it's bitter it's a spitter"). It should be tasteless, or possibly slightly metallic and sour tasting (some people can taste LSD, some can't). You might want to get the acid tested if you're concerned with the veracity of the LSD.
  17. Your body can only store enough glycogen to power you running for around 90mins, 2 hours absolute max, so carb loading will only get you part way there for a marathon. Gels have around 100 cals in them, and when you're running you can be burning 600-800cal/hour pretty easily. Your fat reserves do provide some energy, but you can't burn fat fast enough to keep up*. I'm guessing you simply need to eat more during your run. You mentioned you're pretty young, your metabolism is probably running pretty high. I'd experiment with eating more during your run. They say you can only absorb around 30-60g of carb per hour, so that's just a bit more than one or two gels per hour, gels have about 25g of carb each. I've found I can take on a bit more than that, but you have to experiment to find out. If you're doing gels, try forcing yourself to take one every 30mins and see how that goes. Have you already tried that? Personally I can't handle gels, they make me feel sick, and too much garbage, so I stick to bars or maltodextrin dissolved in my water. Definitely practice your fuelling before your race. Go out slow in your start of the marathon, try to run an even pace through the race, which will feel super slow at the beginning. A month out from your race, don't bother trying to throw on any strength training at this point. Try to have a really big volume week this week, and make sure you taper adequately during the 2-3 weeks before the race. Coffee helps too, for sure. *unless you're on a keto diet and a lot of training to be fat adapted, and even then you won't be able to perform at a high level for marathon. There's a reason why no top marathon athletes are doing this - it's been tried and carbs still win.
  18. Luckily everyone has a different path in life, there's not one correct way to do life. Gautama Buddha, Sacha Baron Cohen, you, me, we all have completely different paths in life, different potentials, passions and so on and that's a good thing. In my opinion there's not a distinction between spiritual and non-spiritual, although that is a fine shorthand to use. When Sacha Baron Cohen follows his highest comedic calling, that's exactly his dharma. Yes I think there's danger in taking yourself too seriously, but I think the inverse danger is in underestimating yourself.
  19. I usually run 6x a week, average 70-80km. I try to run mostly at an easy pace, but about 20-30% of my running is at intense paces. I try to stay well nourished in general, maybe just a small snack right before a medium run, and carry a bar or something for a very long run. Before a short run, I only eat if I'm hungry. After a run I eat some carbs and protein. I eat a ton of food in general, but try to eat nothing after an early dinner until breakfast the next day. I use a garmin 235, love it. Running makes me feel good.
  20. Have you run on a treadmill very much? Do you have access to a treadmill already in your apartment or something that you could use instead? Most treadmills end up sitting around collecting dust, and they are a real bulky item to have clutter your space, so I feel like owning one is a last resort. Make sure you'll actually use it, and that you don't have any other options before you buy. If you are sure you'll use it a lot, then go for it! Sounds like a good option considering what you mentioned, and that you can afford it. Many great long distance runners train on treadmills. Personally I would want one that can do inclines too tho.
  21. Sounds like you did the right thing, good for you. It's a good feeling knowing that you're living true to yourself and not hiding.
  22. Most people find AL-LAD to be less potent that LSD. I find it to be about 2/3 to 1/2 the potency of LSD, so 75ug of AL-LAD would be comparable to something like 40-50ug of LSD. That would fine as a light introductory dose, if you're looking for a more full trip go with 150ug IMO.
  23. Yeah I wonder the same. I think you're probably right that some people just resonate with it better.
