@Leo Gura Well stated here. Although does it really change anything to tweak the argument? Like they are many people who are completely aware of non-duality and wait for vegan advocates to drop their moralizing aspect to switch. It seems more likely that the message should be tailored for the reciever who is highly unconscious (of course not intentionally by Gary). At the end of the day it is better to make his kind of argument than non at all. At least there is some action involved in his case that is actually helping.

@Michael569 Yeah for sure, as Socrates said "The secret to change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new". My point here goes deeper. If our work here has margin for even the possibility of not understanding my simple argumentation, something needs to be fixed. It also shows how cognitive bias rules this human machine and that is extremely important for us if we want to be objective and improve.
-
@Michael569 No dude it doesn't work like that. The cognitive dissonance takes the steering wheel of the conversation and then it is a mess. They bring up spirituality and all kinds of woo-woo and theoretical stuff that don't have anything to do with the real world. You need to bring up real arguments and shift the conversation back to reality where your actions actually have some meaning in order to nail this point down. But when you have so many preconceived notions about reality, ethics, morals, good and bad you can't do that.
-
@Leo Gura Thanks for your lip service. Again you mamble with this stuff to dodge every responsibility. You know exactly what he is advocating but instead prefer to see the projections and not focus on the good message that can create a better world for you and everyone around you (including sentient beings).

@Loreena What do you think about rsd?

If i was a conscious girl, dating sites would be the last place i would be looking for dudes. Cold approach is the solution.

Where is the line between self-development and spirituallity: Do they overlap, are they connected once or not at all? Theory vs practise: What goes first? Does armchair philosophy really offer anything? Dealing with all kinds of people: Considering you don't deal the same way with everyone, what are the nuances? Intelligence related to self-development: Does it matter? Do i need to be smart to even understand some stuff let alone use them? More practical everyday stuff: How to find a job, procrastination part2, judjment part2 etc Making your videos more complete: This probably bothers me the most. Although this one would be basically imposible, try making videos more complete. I feel there are alot of grey areas that are not covered on crucial topics which is actually confusing especially on controversial ones.

The fact you think that meat is even food is a result of indoctrination. We have all been indoctirnated to believe meat is food. Like people in the past have been indoctrinated to believe blacks are slaves, jews should die, women are lower class and the earth is flat. Meat is not food, you are not designed to consume it. The only reason you consume it is because it is tasty and you have been manipulated by one of the biggest businesses of this planet. This is where leo has gone terribly wrong, when he says stuff like "no good or evil". In practise yeah good and evil are just thoughts but still that doesn't justify harming other conscious beings, humans or not. In this case the "no good or evil" position is just a tool for apathetic behavior. -
@Esoteric Sounds like a good excuse to not take responsibility for your actions. But still you are unethical either you take responsibility or not. They kill so that doesn't make the killing ethical it just makes them unethical.

Perfectly said. That doesn't say anything. They are just spiritual, it doesn't mean anything else. They are humans as well and they have been indoctrinated to that behavior like me and you. If it feels right killing people, you kill people. If it feels right raping women, you keep raping women. It doesn't matter what you feel. There is right and wrong because we are not conscious enough as a society to do the right thing. There is no reason mixing spirituality with veganism, except dodging the responsibility of you actions and this doesnt reffer to the op. -
Somehow i had never watched the "how to cure perfectionism" video until today. Although i knew i had a problem with critisism/judgment i thought it was not urgent enough. One day deep into the rubber band excercise my wrist is red from 30 or more times of "punishment" and now i am getting negative emotions on how fucking critical/judgmental I am (awkward laugh ). So is there any other practical way to fix this?
-
Hey @Leo Gura can you shed some light on here?
-
I really like this on the macro but it is not true on the micro. In a place that you need a way to evaluate decision a vs decision b, how do you decide? How do you dodge judgment here? I get where you are coming from on this one but still this subject is not related to enlightenment. This falls in the mental masturbation category not in a sense that is not correct but it is irrelevant here. Even if you were enlightened you couldn't get me enlightened just by describing your paradigm. I need to be it and that is far down the road. Rarely effective when criticizing other people but still that doesn't prove anything. I used to get too many ego reactions because people were attaching their egos to their beliefs and the last thing they wanted to face was criticism, they felt threatened. That is why I stopped judging (undeveloped) people. That shows the issue is with (undeveloped) people not with criticism itself. This judgment of specifically criticising people is a subset of the judgment i am referring to and doesn't cover the whole picture. Jumping to conclusion, judgment is the most effective tool so far but maybe this is the time of replacement (?!?!) We agree on the macro and it makes perfect sense but if you want to go with zero judgment all together you need a replacement. Leo judges almost in every video and you do as well. It either is a double standard or there is still some grey area that has not been addressed yet. The most mind boggling thing is that if you need to judge in order to explain why judgment is not helping, this means that you just talk the talk but do not walk the walk. The only way i can see is replacing judgment with another tool of evaluation that is not toxic.

@Leo Gura Based on your entrepreneurial knowledge, should someone start a buisiness as soon as possible or first find a job to learn some technical business stuff. If it is the second, do i need to waste time building my resume that i will eventually not need? If not how do you find a job without a good resume?
-
@eskwire Not that you are not allowed but is not helping. Also enlightenment is a road by itself. Talking about enlightenment and mixing it with other things doesn't offer anything unless you are helping the enlightnment process. So, can you approach it from the self-development perspective?
-
@t3h_L3N1M4L That is up to you. You probably need to limit your options to entrepreneurial ones though. Books, blogs, youtube, talks are all wonderful ideas. Just try things out and go all in to the one that goes better than the other. In order to have great results you also need some entrepreneurial knowledge.
-
@t3h_L3N1M4L You can teach it as a good teacher. It is your job to motivate them as a teacher. If kids in these days can cultivate motivation for math and physics imagine how easier it would be to motivate them to do self development. Also young kids are so malleable you can teach them anything with the appropriate presentation. You dont have to do the dirty work. If you teach self-development well they are going to get this insight themselves. Be smart about how you teach. You can either take down the "modern education" building or build a tall "self devolopment" one. Extra classes are a good idea but still you need to strategize it perfectly and you may get 20 students per year to get on board. As a teacher you don't have scaling capabilities. You are not even responsible for the stuff you teach as i am aware. You are not going to enjoy that experience. Think about a scalable way you can teach self-development to many people. Quality goes first though.
-
I was so sure that you would say that. The issue here is that this theory or fact or whatever you are going to call it is not for us to conceptualize upon. We are not enlightened yet so we just mentally masturbate and we are not going to become enlightened if we just take the enlightenment paradigm and force it upon our throats. Enlightenment has nothing to do with beliefs and just making certain observations about that state and trying to implement them in our lives is not gonna cut it. Give me something practical. Don't mix it with enlightenment just tell me what is wrong about judgment. Approach it with a self development perspective not a spiritual one. Also how can meditation be judgmental? This is new.
-
I have theoretically understood the part that i don't have control but the fact i am not right is just a possibility not an absolute fact. On roids. This judgment stuff is really confusing. The way i see it is that if you dont judge and you have the attitude of "I dont know" you are too passive. Even if a new Hitler came into power you couldn't take a position, because you wouldn't know and in general you can't make any assertive decisions, because you don't know. Also with that in mind there is no reason watching Leo or reading books, because you dont know. Do i have misunderstood what judgment means maybe? This doesn't make sense.
-
@Nahm I rarely criticise myself. I don't have trouble accepting myself. I dont judge to bring others down and feed my ego by feeling superior. I just use judgement as a tool. I may have a problem with unconditional love though.
-
@Loreena I know need to embrace the imprefections but i can't. I find them as an opportunity to improve the world, if i fix them of course. @Nahm I meditate daily pretty consistently i would say. I don't judge in order to feed my ego and feel superior, i do it just because i see flaws and i want to fix them with my entrepreneurial mindset. I think judgment needs a part 2 video. On the first video it is clear enough on the macro there is no need to judge but what about the micro? Don't i need to judge a good life coach vs a bad one to choose the first one? Don't i need to judge a good book vs a bad one to choose the first one? At the end of the day isn't my judgment a way to evaluate things?
-
@Loreena Literally or metaphorically though?

Too low consciousness, don't waste your time watching it.
