  4. @SaltyMeatballs *Fairly simple but difficult to do. How do you fully emody this principle into your life so you can self actualize?* I recommend looking up the bulldog mindset https://simpleprogrammer.com/build-bulldog-mindset/ https://bulldogmindset.com/blog-fullwidth/
  5. I think to often we let other things take control over us and not use who take control over things it can happen in pretty much any area for example food, people, tv, technology. Even how much time we spent using this forum. an example with social media: http://calnewport.com/blog/2017/10/02/are-you-using-social-media-or-being-used-by-it/
  6. @Rilles Its still important to act as if you are in control if you don't take control and just go with the flow you won't get as much out of life as you could have and you will be controlled by things instead of you taking control. not taking responsibility is how you kill personal development- Leo (paraphrase)
  7. i don't think there is such thing as a perfect human being no matter who you are you will always face problems in life.
  8. feel it 100% with zero resistance.
  9. this may be relevant and this may help take full advantage of the book
  10. @Elisabeth how can you build it with passion if passion only comes after mastering something? I don't think you can do something with passion as it is a side effect of getting good but probably can with being obsessed with it. “Passion comes after you put in the hard work to become excellent at something valuable, not before. In other words, what you do for a living is much less important than how you do it.” ― Cal newport, So Good They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love
  11. ? edit when I commented for some reason there was no video just a blank page. But good video.
  12. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Be so good they can't ignore you. Do whats the emotional difficult thing to do. To get better at a craft practice in a way thats mental demanding and not just in a way that comes easy or in a state of flow. Take 100% responsibility. To overcome fear fully feel it. To learn something actually try to understand and figure it out until you get it (sometimes it seems like some may aviod actually understanding the material) Do hard things every day to overcome the path of least resistance when facing difficult situation (embrace the suck) Thats a few i can think of.
  13. @Salvijus actually there is a technique for that it's called body language. look up mark bowden. However it's probably better to be your natural self than trying to be somebody else.
  14. It's too easy to waste time if you aren't conscious about it which sucks because time is limited.
  15. If you want a great career you must master rarer and valuable skills acording to Cal Newport. To do this you need to do deliberate practice would be nice with a video on all about deliberate practice so you can use it to get a great career and aviod getting stuck at a specefic level.

  17. Without grit there is a good chance you won't do anything that's difficult and longterm. Would be a really useful ability know how to develop.
  18. Why the dot? Is it just the bump the post or something else?
  19. I have read somewhere from john sonmez that he used to have panic attacks and what he did was to fully feel them with zero resistance to overcome them.
  20. It probably better to solve the problem permanently rather than looking for a quick fix. "Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit" With only some discipline we can solve only some problems. With total discipline we can solve all problems.” scott m peck http://www.susanjeffers.com/home/5truths.cfm (5 truths about fear) something i think that may help with overcoming anxiety is to face the fear directly and fully feel the emotion over and over again until you no longer afraid anymore. https://bulldogmindset.com/self-confidence/
  21. Multi tasking is not a very positive thing because it diminishes cognitive performance due to attention residue just wanted to point that out what you want for optimal cognitive performance is really single tasking. I recommend looking attention residue up. but i think meditation is a good thing other wise.
  22. elon musk and franz liszt. i really admire elon musk's drive and i admire how great franz liszt became and all the things he had to face in order to get that good, in my opinion, no one else is that good at composing music or at the piano.
  23. check out ultra learning and deep work by scott h yung and cal newport. also their top performer course.
  24. Having a fixed mind set can seriously limit what you can accomplish while a growth mindset can help you achive great things. would be nice with a video on how to develop a growth mindset. a fixed mindset could stop one from growing for good.
  25. it just seemed interesting and then the passion grew stronger after getting better at it i recommend reading so good they can't ignore you by cal newport that talk about this approach to finding passion.
