  1. I think too many people does indirect effort when in reality what they need more is direct effort.
  2. How do you develop the kind of drive David Goggins and Elon musk have? I am not necessary talking about just working long hours but about going intensely after something you believe is valuable for you and never giving up on it. this could be useful to have for any goal you want to achieve. i believe that drive helps you continue even when you don’t have motivation. If you need motivation to do something you are probably not going to achieve your goal because motivation comes and goes. “motivation is crap” David Goggins perfect topic for new year resolutions lol
  3. @brugluiz It doesn't have to kill the creative process it can actually make it better because you get so good. Franz liszt was really creative and good because he got exceptional good at one thing. Same with Albert Einstein. I don't think it kills the creative process at all(because you get more creative the better you get). I am also pretty sure Nikola tesla stuck to getting exceptional good at one thing which was to create innovations. Also mozart was exceptional because he pretty much stuck to one thing. Same with bach And John williams. There is this 10000 hour rule that it take that much to be a master. You can't spend 10000 hours on a lot of different things. Actually innovations comes when you are at the edge of a field not from being on multiple fields that idea comes from so good they can't ignore you by cal newport. http://calnewport.com/blog/2014/02/02/the-empty-sky-paradox-why-are-stars-in-your-professional-field-so-rare/
  4. It probably best to stick with one thing and then get really good at it for example Albert Einstein didn't became Albert Einstein by doing Art, Music(actually he played the violin as well but i doubt he did more than that) and so on but he pretty much stuck to one field and then become pretty much the best at it. There is a book that is called so good they can't ignore you by cal newport that talks about this idea of getting really good at one thing. It's hard to get exceptional good at a lot of things and it is pretty much required to be exceptional if you want the best rewards in your career.
  5. Great list! "6- always be kind and lovely even if people are rude " But don't always be kind it's much more important to be true to your self and have self-respect than trying to be a fake version of yourself.
  6. To me, these are my favorites. They really helped me to take more responsibility in my life.
  7. You get confidence after you have done something not before. Getting started just comes from a decision to get started. If you have trouble getting started you can get an accountability partner but ultimately you have to realize that there is no quick fix. You have get up and get started. "How do you get over fear?" You fully feel it with zero resistance Leo have made a video called how to deal with strong negative emotions where he talks about it. There is also a book called feel the fear and do it anyway.
  8. @Leo Gura I have had issues on my iphone/ipad using safari and on my windows computer using chrome and internet explore.
  9. @Leo Gura is it a new course like the life purpose course but different topic?
  10. sometimes don't dodge the bullet bite the bullet i wish i faced more of my fears and was more self disciplined so i don't rely on motivation to get things done
  11. If you have a problem how do you find what’s creating it? if you can find the source of the problem you can now take responsibility for the problem and find a solution for it. how do you know it’s really is the solution/problem and not just something you are making up?
  12. @NoSelfSelf it’s not that simple the reason someone is acting in a specific way may be because of some forgotten traumatic event in the past
  13. @Yousef i did it wrong i see should have used more words
  14. Day 3 failed got distracted but at least i came to the conclusion that i need to take it more seriously.
  15. I will use this journal to hold my self accountable for my goals it’s not fun to share your failures or excuse so my goal is to use this as a source of motivation my current goal is to learn music theory grade 1-8 currently at the end of grade 2 deadline is March 31 how ever I will likely still continue if I miss the deadline i will try to report any success or failures to keep me accountable Current goal: 1: Finish music theory grade 1-8 dead line march 31 if I don’t make it I owe my dad $76 because loss aversion should be a great motivater as well. How i am learning: Explain concept outloud to spot my misunderstanding as if it was to someone who is five years old Question book method to check my recalling ability Purposeful practice to get better Distributed practice or spaced repetition for better chance of recalling Practice testing or quizzes from the books focus intensely in a room free of any computers or other kind of distractions 2: Being able to play solfeggietto By Ph. E.Bach on piano fluently.(no deadlines yet) How i am learning: Practice where i get things wrong very deliberate and out side my comfortzone lots of repetition. Feedback from my teacher. study the sheet music very closely. 3: Break the world record in juggling two balls with one hand world record is currently 13 minuts and my own record is about one minut my goal is to be able to juggle for a half hour. How i am learning: basically the same as the piano piece but without a teacher. as leonardo da vinci said poor is the student who does not surpass the master.
  16. what thomas Edison did seems to describe the diffused mode of thinking vs the focused mode of thinking. to really get creative i recommend looking up deliberate practice which is all about how you get creative. and Myelin is why deliberate practice works.
  17. on the piano piece by bach I found out i can now play it without sheet music Somethings i need to work on: Make it more musical Play in tempo
