Seeing as animal agriculture is the single largest contributor to almost every single environmental ill our planet faces today, I think you got a pretty big reason right there. On the micro-scale, it's one of the most abusive industries to work in (as an employee, seriously the conditions are usually god-awful), and on the macro-scale you're helping save the planet. This is of course in addition to all the ethical concerns, as well as it being pretty much the healthiest diet out there, when done properly. Did you know that the oldest dog in the world was vegan his whole life?

Yeah countries like India and Thailand will be incredibly cheap, that two grand will go a long way. I have a friend in Bangalore and was looking at places to stay, told him I found a nice airbnb for $20/night and he was all like, whoa waaay too expensive mate! hahah -
There are multitudes of unhealthy non-vegans as well. Actually I can almost guarantee you the ratio is higher. This has nothing to do with veganism and everything to do with just paying attention to what you're eating.

Religions are irrational perversions of ancient philosophies that feed the ego, here is Leo's video on the subject. Yes, human beings are just organisms with a brain, and that brain is responsible for generating what most of us experience as consciousness; it is responsible for the creation of the ego that you falsely identify yourself with, and is the origin of all suffering. This is what enlightenment is, discovering the reality of your existential nature. What's important here is to recognize just how practical this work actually is. We're not talking about some vague, armchair-style musings on religion or philosophy, we're talking about making very real, practical changes in your life through direct experience. I recommend checking out Leo's latest video on the benefits on enlightenment to get a better sense of what we're talking about: We also have a thread going with our other favorite enlightenment videos, if hearing things from a different perspective helps at all:

Leo built up his following over a period of years. It takes time and dedication. He's also been extremely consistent with high-quality uploads every week.

I'm going to aim to schedule something for this saturday! Stay tuned for an announcement thread.

I do think it is important to be able to understand the perspective of the person you're giving advice to. I just finished watching a video by Stephen Wolinsky who spoke on this exact subject, and I think explains it pretty well. Leo, of course, also points this out in many of his own videos.

If happiness isn't the only thing to live for- what else is there?

1. If you want to reach your peak potential, you will need a modicum of success in your life, and spending some time to focus on your career for your career's sake isn't a bad move, just be smart about it. I'm a software engineer ckollege dropout as well, it's a good industry to be in. If you're curious or want tips on professional software engineering, feel free to ping me on our community chat: 2. Same here mate. If music is what you love then start doing some creative exploration within the field. I actually want to get into electronic music production as well. Traditionally I've shunned the more "artsy" creative work, telling myself I don't have the talent for it and to instead focus on more "technical" fields like programming, but fuck that, talent is a complete myth and I can learn whatever I want. Instead of worrying about things as a means to an end, just enjoy the process for what it is; live life as a moment-to-moment experience. 3. Leo's life purpose course would be useful here. Hop on the chat above and I can share some tips from it . Here's what I came up with:

If you punch in all your food into an app like www.myfitnesspal.com do you meet most of the daily nutrient requirements?
-
My first thought would be a diet issue. What does your daily food intake look like?

This. https://medium.com/@GregMuender/how-to-make-2k-week-on-airbnb-61818b713406 https://medium.com/airbnb-superhosting/i-made-41-879-as-an-airbnb-host-8c33423cd5b6 https://medium.com/@sidorenkor/how-i-made-40-000-on-airbnb-com-957b78650109 Takes about $10k to lease and furnish a studio apartment, and you'll start getting an immediate return on your investment. I've outlined most of the costs and setup in this spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzRQDqUvIDqLM01iQzNOU1dEV2M I'm also working on creating a subscription-based web app.

Never said anything of the sort. -
Everything in moderation. This forum isn't a distraction in of itself, learning from others is an important step in our journey through life. It's a tool just like anything else. What's important is having the wisdom to use these tools to your advantage and not the other way around. Obviously if you're just spending all day chit-chatting and not making any actual progress, that's a problem.

This doesn't have much to do with your situation, but I've always had trouble keeping journals. I've thought about starting my own thread here, but based on past experience I'll just write some gibberish down for a few days and eventually just look at a blank page and wonder what I'm supposed to be doing. From a practical, objective perspective I can definitely see tons of ways one could benefit from keeping a daily journal, but I guess I have a bit of trouble being introspective in a way that's conducive to keeping one. Have you experienced anything like this and/or have any tips?
