Any of Leo's (or others') self-inquiry techniques. I've been on and off with my meditation through the years, but I feel like my constant (fairly) self-inquiry daily (about 20mins) has kept my growth steady. I used to do more "What am I?" --> then moved to looking at the wall and trying to imagine I was never born --> also, try looking out at an object, focus on it, then try to reverse your awareness "into your head/eyes" to try and "see the seer". -
@Waken Do you have a link to the book? Thanks

Agree with @Roy... somewhat, but not always... I was in a similar situation... working at a fast food place. I needed something to pay the bills but I felt totally downtrodden on the inside. I think more self-compassion can help. Also, listening to intuition... Sometimes having the courage to just say "fuck it" and move on can be a positive thing... You'll figure it out. What do you think is right for you? In terms of balance, what do you think you're unique balance is? In terms of maybe trying something or doing something in a way you haven't done for most of your history or are scared to do.

How have you used a dream-board to help with self-esteem?

I dunno... I think I tried the "Simple Rule for Acing Life" and may have gone overboard causing me to regress and "tighten"/"constrict" more ... ego backlash... gotta watch out for that. A yoga teacher once said that they try to go fro about 70% of your stretching ability and you can take that in any aspect of life... Go too soft and nothing happens Go too hard and you cause further damage... I've noticed in my life it's sometimes harder to just chill and relax too though

@zikzak @Whatwhat What is ROA? I know I did 3 grams of a friends mushrooms and barely felt anything.... though they were from a kit and may not have been high quality...

What would people who are experienced with Meo recommend in terms of dosage for a first timer? Also method of ingestion?

I think there are some famous Native American leaders who may fit the bill.... Quanah Parker ---> Joe Rogan has a great interview with a historian (S.C. Gwynne) who wrote a book about this guy and the Comanches. Geronimo Sitting Bull Crazy Horse

@Roy Nice! Where are you moving? The island is beautiful. Lots of everything (surf, snow, city).

Hey, inspired by Leo's recent post. I've been trying, with frustration, to find my own skill set. I'm finding it difficult to come up with anyone practical and hands on that i can actually practice and develop. It seems i'm more interested in psychology, working with people, and spirituality, so I don't really feel i have anything to work on their. Like it's all impractical stuff that I can't really "do" or be creative with. It's just talking with people n' thinking, etc. More abstract. Also, my top 3 strengths from the Life Purpose course strengths finder are Curiosity, Wisdom, and Excellence... I also found Critical-thinking/openmindedness and Fairness... I'd like to here about other people's journeys about how they came to find their skill set. Especially people with less concrete and more abstract skills relating to people and spirituality. Cheers

Hey. I'd like to hear anyone's recommendations for other courses or programs (or even advice) about discovering and honing one's core values and life purpose. It could be online courses, books, people, advice, anything. Cheers

Walk in nature.... Watch youtube (a mix of basketball, concepts/learning [like psychology, spirituality, motivational, etc.], food channels, movies (rarely), tv shows (rarely)).... cook, dance, music, guitar, .... contemplating... drawing... poetry,,, journalling... Looking at beautiful views, especially with a good meal and/or tea/coffee (decaf) I'm currently realizing that spending time creating and doing things with friends is a huge way I replenish. --> being silly and creative --> really helps me release from all the seriousness I experience in life --> giggling is a huge load off for me Cuddling would be another.. Just chillaxing with friends and loved ones. Getting that oxytocin and serotonin flowing. --> though I've neglected that in the past.

Fair. The book "Lord of the Flies" where those kids are stranded on the island and end up killing each other. Seems like Purple/Red to me. Maybe some Blue when some kid does a more altruistic act or has compassion for when Piggy dies.

@Mada_ yeah, I've heard of it. I'd really like to learn more about it, especially if it's available in a University setting since then I'll also be able to get certifications. Do you know how much it differs from, say, simply spiritual teachings? Is it more comprehensive since it includes the psychology of people? Is it more therapeutically motivated? Cheers

"You won't like me when I'm angry man."

@Johnny5 Haha... I needed that right now Thanks I'm now imagining a Hulk with Peace signs painted on his cheeks, with dreads, a hemp vest and twirling hoola-hoops on his arms

@Roy I dunno. I hesitate to peg Native Americans (today) at any one stage since there are many cultures and people widely spread who fall into that category. Also consider there are different lines of development. So perhaps some Native American culture may have a higher spiritual line of development since they use psychedelics and do communal healing (etc.), but then their interpersonal lines or moral lines (etc.) aren't as developed. I live in Canada and the story I hear is that many Native Americans were brutalized (physically and mentally), even up to the 1970s (with residential schools: they took kids from their parents and forced them into schools and treated them very poorly). I think this had a huge impact on the health and development of generations to come. Though, even prior to European settlement, it does seem like many Native Americans nations weren't yet at stage Blue or higher levels of development (generally). They were still hunter-gatherers. Nothing wrong with that per se. Just remember though, excesses of anything can become unhealthy. So yeah, maybe they have more community-togetherness. But that also means individuals are probably less able to be and express their individuality more. All those cultural codes and rules will be more dominant, and if you for some reason don't agree with those codes or rules (they may not be exactly healthy rules/codes either), you might find it hard to live with them.

Seems like Red, one of its positives, might be telling the truth raw. Being brutally honest. -
Red could be useful if there was some totalitarian regime or something repressing people. Fighting back. I think Red helps keep leaders in check too. @Derek White Ah, cheers. Side-note: does anyone know how to create megathreads?
-
@Derek White Haha wanna hear an example of stage Red? Right when you posted that the first thought that popped into my head was "Fuck the mods and Leo. We don't need them or their authority." Maybe that can be another positive of Red (depending on circumstances I suppose). It doesn't appeal to authority

Or maybe someone who does a lot of solo-types of work. Like old prospectors or something . They go out, totally for their own gain, but not really about hurting others (though they might if others got in their way). Out in the wilderness, focusing on survival, making it, fighting the elements, building up their "I can! I'm a dominant force of nature!" types of mentalities. I remember doing a sea kayak trip on a course I did. One day it was raining and the waves were rough and high. Me and a friend were in a tandem-canoe. We just got super hyped about being out in the elements and started chanting and loving the adrenalin rush of it all. ... I think adrenalin and dopamine are largely associated with stage Red
-
I think my brother exhibits a lots of stage Red. One thing he often said was that if someone fucked with me he'd beat the hell out of them.... Positive and coming from love (to a degree), though probably misguided and not what I'd want him to do.

I could see the Burger Kind guy being perhaps more Orange, maybe Green, but then perhaps using Red to fight for a just cause. I was thinking the drill sergeants when they were yelling and screaming in their face were using Red, though, they may be mostly Blue or Orange regularly. Like the majoirity of Army is probably Blue and Orange (in the states), but I could see how using aspects of Red at times would be handy (instead of being a victim in combat, rising above that and getting shit done ----> "Anger is a more construct emotion than victimization" paraphrasing the Terminator...-----> ----> Terminator... stage red? I could see maybe a tribe, like vikings or something, getting that blood-berserker furry in them to combat their enemies to save their village or something.
