To me this seems to be a little step in the direction of regulating these big tech companies and seeing the issues that they can pose. Which I think is a good thing.

Haha! "Does the mob doing anything good?" "They teach people how to eat well." "How about anything negative?" "...the beatings."

I don't know how to create a megathread. But I thought why not work on completing the Spiral Dynamics megathread examples. I'd personally like to know and learn more about the lower stages since they aren't covered as much. Questions I have - What does a healthy stage Red/Purple/ or even Beige look like? But in this case, Red. -Is it like, storming out of a job or relationship after taking abuse? I dunno. Post post post away! Cheers

BTW, according to Democracy Now!, Jeff Bezos made $13 billion dollars in one day during the pandemic. Wow.

Cheers.

@Leo Gura Specific question for you. Would you consider feeling unsafe and insecure (in the sense of the world is scary) and feeling isolated and alone and lacking belonging and connection (or a "tribe") something of a stage Purple issue? If so, how would you recommend overcoming this? This is one of the reasons why I wanted to see the stage Purple video. I don't know if I still have some stage Purple issues, or if what I'm experiencing isn't something covered in spiral dynamics or/and is a finer distinction Spiral Dynamics doesn't cover. What are some key things Purple needs to overcome in order to grow into Red? Especially in the social domain. Cheers

I think it's widely understood that animals, including humans, have trauma response cycles which move from flight-fight through to immobility and then back to fight-flight then finally to security and social engagement. You can see animals exhibit the "freeze" response, and then when they come out of it they well shake and have muscle spasms as a way to release pent-up nervous system energies that were trapped during the freeze response. Humans have this, but since we have a neo-cortex (rational thought etc.), we can stop this process from completing. Sometimes we can have traumatic events and then keep the pent-up energies within us for years sometimes. Though, it's possible to go through these emotions and energies, and i think sometimes shaking is a characteristic of moving through the trauma response. I don't know if this at all applies or to what degree. But I thought it might be an interesting angle to see this phenomenon from. If you want to learn more about this, Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing is where I got it from. -

I haven't watched the whole series yet (just the first 2 episodes), but John Vervaeke's "Awakening From The Meaning Crisis" series on YouTube touches on this in a pretty interesting and eye opening way (at least to me anyways). He links history, cognitive science, civilizations, shamanism, etc.. Here's the first episode. I think the second episode touches more on shamanism if I remember correctly. -

Pretty sure the original source of that quote is from Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs, and Steel" book on the history of civilizations. I think it came from Papa New Guinea. But don't quote me on this ;P -
I love this guy. I think he's got a lot to offer.

Canada! West Coast & B.C. are fairly Green I think. If you're looking for more Orange, obviously Vancouver or some of the smaller cities like Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, Nanaimo, etc. Picturesque, lots of nature, lots of resources (depending on where you are). I'm from there so such is my bias as well

Yeah, happens to me quite frequently. Definitely a few years ago when I was doing an hour or so a day. Now I get it pretty instantly when I sit down and do a regular 10-20 minute meditation where I look at the wall (or w/e) in front of me and, instead of focusing on one object with concentration and precision, I try to use peripheral vision and a "wider lens" so to speak. During this I also try to imagine that I don't exist. Leo said, if I remember correctly, that he knows he's meditating correctly if this is happening (the moving walls n such). -
Sounds like you've are in some troubling times, but that you're also somewhat managing to find some positive in it...? In any case... POSITIVITY ----> directed at You ---> I hope you manage to navigate these turbulent waters. The river of life has many parts, each with different qualities. Sometimes it's rocky. Sometimes it's rolly. But one thing is for sure. It keeps changing. Nothing lasts forever. Keep paddling my friend. I hope adventure reveals itself. Love (you, I to you, everything, you to you, etc.)

So, basically, I'm 28, and still have trouble living on my own (emotionally that is), if i'm not living with like my Dad or Mom etc. I notice I have huge, fundamental reactions and anxieties, along with muscle spasms etc., when going out to live on my own (like not with a parent or something). I did just do a year of college on my own, and have lived on my own in the past. But these issues are still so difficult. Going out on my own I feel very overwhelmed by life, and almost unable to maintain jobs or relationships. ... I've recently been studying trauma work, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or resources...?

Thanks! I like the condensed-ness of your notes. Helps get the jist of things without having to read and go through a lot of material.

Fine display of stage yellow thinking! "There's many contexts here." On a more serious note, i actually really appreciated how they handled that and how that guy addressed the press and explained it. I wish he said "Better to have a destroyed statue than violence and death."

Just today I got into a state which I've finally realized is probably something like clinical/deep depression. It's not that I necessarily notice I feel really sad (though my heart does feel pain and whenever I try to do "action" things or force things or be "productive" etc., I feel bad about it and so lethargic, numb-like, etc.) --> --> I liken it to this weighty type of feeling (much over my chest area). It's like i'm wearing this heavy suit of armor that muffles the outter world. This suit also has a spike or strap over my chest/heart area, so whenever I'm supposed to do something (like work, or someone asks me to do something, or I try to run, get "over it", or be happier, etc.) it tightens or stabs my chest and I feel worse (like hopeless, down, shutdown, distant, withdrawn, lack of awareness, dissociative fosho, not really "there" or paying attention to the present in any meaningful or effective way). Does anyone have any advice? Or even supplements or diets I can try? I'm hesitant to start or take pharmaceuticals and want to pretty much exhaust all other approaches first. Unless it gets really bad. In the past I think I've had this a lot. --> like at jobs, I've often had the experience of feeling to heavy (my muscles barely could lift or do anything), and doing things others told me to do was so hard and it was just a drag and soooo tiring. Even sharing experiences helps. I think a perspective I have now that I didn't before was that I thought I was faking it or could just "get over it" with my mind and attitude. I think I'm seeing that it's not something that easy as a attitude change. I'm starting to notice it's probably physiological and perhaps chemical. This new theory I've been exploring (polyvagal theory) seems to explain it quite well in terms of physiology and using different exercises (like breathing etc.) to change your body to change your brain. --> the body affects the brain as much as the brain affects the body type of deal.

@Elton I understand. This happened about a month after my college ended. Thanks for the tips, hopefully you'll be able to pass through your period with as much ease as possible. @Nahm Definintely better. But I think this acts like a bandaid. Though, not saying bandaids aren't helpful. I still notice my general psychology going low --> I would differentiate this from a mood/attitude. Thanks Everyone Else!

Even tips about how to manage it (like exercise, diet, cold showers, breathing, humming, etc.).
