Internal Family Systems therapy (deals with sub-personalities and the conflicts and hurt that can come about there). I see it like a person is made up of many sub-personalities, and they interact with each other just like other relationships; each one has their own issues, strengths, desires, etc., and conflicts with other sub-personalities. These then show up in your life and real relationships. I'd also suggest becoming more aware of your bodily sensations and emotions for signs of triggers, and perhaps pushing yourself into new and challenging situations in order to dig up some "stuff" you've yet to discover. Also, a fish in water doesn't recognize it's in water. Meaning, you may not see how much trauma or negativity you're holding since you're use to it and, relative to those around you, it doesn't seem that bad. So maybe working on the issues you think of as "small" or "normal" as well, since there may be lots there but you just don't see it since, relative to others, it doesn't seem that bad, but could still be holding you back a lot from further development.

I think this video can apply nicely here. -
Maybe some caffeinated tea, like Green or Oolong. Maybe working on reducing the dose vs. straight out. Or you could do decaf. I'm sort of remembering something about a stimulant that's not caffeine... but I dunno if i'm just hallucinating or not... = yerba mate, I think that's a drink which stimulates but doesn't have caffeine, and you can get it in different flavors.

Word up... feel ya. One thing that's helped me a lot is communicating with the various parts within myself and trying to resolve and heal them (sort of like Internal Family Systems therapy). Bravery - Gentleness - Honesty - Compassion... Balance.

Here's another video that I think sort of lays out, briefly, how and what they do.

https://www.objectivepersonality.com/ = their website https://www.youtube.com/user/DaveSuperPowers = their YouTube channel Basically, they're trying to really track personality types (based off Myers-Briggs with some additions) with the scientific method. they've been doing it for 10 years and have typed up to 2500 people with their system with 90% accuracy (accuracy meaning that, out of the 512 subtypes they discovered below the Myers-Briggs 16, when they both type a person separately, they get the same type 90% of the time). You can get typed by them, but you have to subscribe to their website which is $20 a month for two months and start to learn their stuff more in-depth. They're pretty funny as well. But ya, highly recommend if you find the whole personality typing community being a bit ungrounded and "woo".

Does anyone have any experience, knowledge, or resources with this? I initially was pointed to it for heavy metal detox, but it may be helpful for other things as well. Thanks for any shares, advice, or resources.

I just watched this series. I'd definitely recommend it. Lots of "spiritual" parallels, as well as similarities with the Matrix. Basically, people are in a science experiment where they are put into this simulation which runs various lives they live. But then some shit happens in the machine, and two people start continuously interacting and finding each other in the simulation. Sometimes "waking up" to the fact that they are in a simulation. With Johna Hill and Emma Stone.

I think this guy, along with Jordan Hall (aka Jordan Greenhall), is a top stage Yellow thinker on the subject of civilization, civilization collapse, and sensemaking/epistemology. I dunno what's gunna happen, and I don't think he knows either, but I think he's someone worth listening to and ignoring his opinion would be foolish.

@Leo Gura That's fair too. I'm curious though, why you don't think he could be manipulating people? If it's simply because his teachings are valid, I don't think that exactly a great reason since he could simply be using teachings and even his direct experience to manipulate people, etc. (not that I really think that's your reasoning).

It's not about family or relational systems per se, but The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk is one I really enjoyed. Deals with trauma. Waking the Tiger is decent as well. If you check out Internal Family Systems therapy, and its founder Richard Shwartz, I've been doing something like that for a while and have found a lot of benefits and stuff within myself. It's not exactly as it may sound, as in not specifically dealing with groups of people or families, but instead deal with different subpersonalities within oneself and the conflicts that can arise between them. Seems like some form of shadow work. But I've found it very insightful, and it can be applied to relationships with other people as well (in that it seems to me like our external relationships are reflection of relationships we have with our subpersonalities within us: all our relationships are within us - type of deal).

Hey. Here's a few resources that might help you (or others) if you're really struggling. https://trippnetwork.co.uk/ https://www.spiritualcrisisnetwork.com/ https://www.cheetahhouse.org/ I hope these help. They're counsellors and people to reach out to in case you're confronting spiritual or meditation crises. I've had some terrifying experiences as well, some that didn't go away for long periods. It must be difficult. If you want to reach out, let me know. If you feel that it's too hard, go for a walk, be grounded and centered. Enjoy things. Be safe. Be kind. -
Cheers. Sounds useful and helpful.

Does anyone know of any good books, resources, or people to research about navigating family relationships? Could even be therapies surrounding that. Cheers

Hey. So I realize that I'm definitely in line and motivated and feeling passionate and excited about teaching some form or another of meditation. I'm wondering... (from preferably people who have their meditation teacher training or teach it) Would you recommend any specific teacher training programs? Would you dissuade from taking certain programs or certain teachers? How have you found work in this area? Do you have any resources or teachers or paths that you'd recommend? I'd also be interested in doing a webchat with teachers or people who've done programs to get more info. Thanks for any and all info.

When you say it made me question several things. First, is it the attraction to that scenario that's unhealthy, or is the guilt and repression of that fantasy unhealthy? And how could you distinguish between the two? I hesitate to say since I worry a bit about encouraging some sort of trauma-related reenactment which may be doing more harm than good. But I also don't know if fantasizing about that type of scenario is trauma-related if one is finding attraction in it. I'm seeing a distinction between A) natural and healthy attraction, but with guilt attached to it, and B) some unhealthy relationships with sex coming from trauma. I honestly don't know a lot about this. From my POV, I could see how if there's simply some guilt in feeling and enjoying these fantasies, I'd try to work on letting yourself enjoy them and honor them. Get dirty But, I dunno, maybe sometimes there are unhealthy sexual fantasies that leave people feeling "spiritually" and psychologically worse-off and hurt. But I'd imagine that these would be accompanied by significantly greater negative feelings that the guilt mentioned above. Like a soul-pain or something. Try feeling it out more, within yourself as you explore these different facets of yourself. Do they feel healthy? Are there thoughts, fear, or judgments that get in the way of seeing the truth? Also, there is a difference between fantasy and reality, and these two can be very different in terms of what's healthy. For example, I can fantasize about murdering my mom, which could provide some healthy benefits. But doing it in reality I'd say is unhealthy. Or, I can fantasize about being fucked by a dominant male, or even enslaved by him. Perhaps even do it in reality but as an agreed upon activity where both parties know and care about the wellbeing of the other, so that it's not totally reality in that the dominant male isn't actually raping me, but is pretend raping me or something. Follow your heart, trust yourself. Play with it.

Beautiful. Felt that heart-love when the meerkat risked its life trying to protect it's clan. As well as when the clan came and helped the solo meerkat.

@Michael569 what are the risks? Just wasting product? I guess i was initially hoping for somewhat of a cheaper version of a heavy metal detox. One that's safer as well since im just starting out with all of this. The symptoms i'm trying to overcome are sleep issues, brain fog and trouble concentrating, depression, anxiety, as well as body stiffness and joint soreness.

I've heard liposomal glutathione (LG) can do this. From the very limited glance at some article titles, the liposomal part seems to act like an encasing which facilitates the glutathione to cross membranes (including blood-brain barrier) without it being damaged, etc. "Coating organic, drug-encapsulating nanoparticles with glutathione helps the nanoparticles cross the in vitro blood-brain barrier model better than identical concentrations of uncoated nanoparticles..." = https://symbiosisonlinepublishing.com/pharmacy-pharmaceuticalsciences/pharmacy-pharmaceuticalsciences03.php Just one of several searches items that popped up saying LG can cross the blood-brain barrier. I doubt it acts as well as a full-blown chelator, like one you'd go to a nutritionist or something for using intravenous. I wonder if it acts similarly. I don't really know much at all about this process. seems like it could be beneficial for other things as well, like as a potential lighter nootropic.

If you check out Daniel Schmachtengerger, Jim Rutt, Jordan Hall, Joe Brewer, and Nora Bateson's work (Particularly Jordan Hall and Daniel Schmachtenberger), they are stage yellow thinkers who focus on existential risk, meta-crises leading to cascading effects across our globalized world (which wasn't around in previous generations which makes our system currently more fragile), etc. Really brilliant thinkers.

I heard Daniel Ingram discuss how muddy the spiritual and meditative landscape is in terms of having it mapped out, like a science. In one part, when addressing psychedelics, along with saying that there is a wide range of effects, from permanent enlightenment to nothing at all. In this part, he talks about people he claim say that using psychedelics too much can decrease one's ability to attain insights through other means, and may disrupt of permanently damage one's "natural" ability at maintaining and sustaining these states without psychedelics. I've also heard Ram Dass say something similar. Have any of you psychedelic spiritual people experienced this? Leo, (or anyone else who's done heavy psychedelic use as well as pursuing spirituality) have you experienced this or noticed any effects of the like that you might think could be associated with psychedelic use? Cheers.

Matt23 replied to Matt23's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Talinn If you mean that if a person just spends hours on psychedelics with no meditation practice, their meditation practice without pyschedelics would be weak. Then ya, I could see that being the case. But, I don't really have much experience so I dunno. And ya, @Thought Art makes sense as well. I mean, in an obvious straight-forward way that @Talinn was saying makes sense, but I don't think Daniel was meaning that. I think he was meaning more along the lines that taking psychedelics can affect one's bio-chemistry, or spiritual abilities on an energetic level or permanent level or something along those lines. Rather than lack of abilities coming from simply lacking practice (thus they can be retrained/grown, whereas the way I heard him, he was saying psychedelic's effects = permanent). ...? Dunno. Sounds like a good area for research. ... Anyone got $10,000,000 + they want to put towards a 10 year-long longitudinal study on meditation and psychedelic research?! -
Maybe just go with whatever generally/relatively fits your personality, strengths, and dreams/desires. But while also considering that, likely (for me anyways), what you take in Uni won't define what you do afterwards. It might help put you in a general direction, but it doesn't have to define the particulars. You might even do something completely different afterwards, or quit halfway through. Also, consider that skills, education, and experiences in one domain or subject can sometimes (often...?) applied to other domains as well. Like learning auto mechanics might help someone in building political systems. Or fly fishing might teach someone patience which can be used almost anywhere in life. etc. etc. etc. What would the/a synthesis of Gut--Heart--Head look like?

Matt23 replied to actualizing25's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@actualizing25 Right now it's not that high. But in the past I've had experiences of love and crying wanting to to be a Bodhisattva and to help others. I suppose love and trying to make the world a better place. Also reducing suffering. I've also come across this desire (from time-to-time in varying degrees) of just enjoying doing awareness-increasing practices and using my awareness. I also like to explore reality for it's own sake, including recently coming across a deep meaningfulness in experiencing and knowing reality as reality, for its own sake (as a value, I didn't really have that experience). But, ya, I guess I've just had some on and off again experiences of motivation to awaken, some from suffering, others from just pure love and a desire to know god or something like that... But at the moment I'm more focused on practical matters, and struggle a bit with the basics and mental health, which probably makes it tougher to really get in touch with authentic desires of higher orders. But I try to keep them in mind and use them as more positive motivation. But it's not like I'm 100% gung-ho hardcoring it at the moment.
