  1. Did anyone see that report Stefan Molyneuax did where he exposed that the drugs didn't really do much except cause dodgy side effects, and that the people writing this DSM mostly sat around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes? One of the psychiatrist on the board even emitted a disorder because his wife had the same symptoms and felt embarrassed. So he forced the committee to leave that one out of the manual? Dunno, just throwing stones in the water here seeing what sort of ripples happen as a result. Check it out.
  2. Does anyone else here not think Trump is a genius? Couple of questions: If he really was the idiot that the media makes him out to be, then why has the guy been so successful in life and has won the presidency with a landslide? If he was really forest gimp nobody would even look at him. He does the things he does to win votes. He can probably bring America back to its feet again because he is such a big business genius. He reminds me of Nigel Farage who laboured for 25 years to free the UK form the trranny of the European Union by being a peoples person who drank pints, smoked and told morally corrupt politicians exactly what he thought of them. Those kinds of people are the ones who get results in the world. Not the likes of Obama who couldn't even fart without permission from the other parties because he didn't have the charisma to outsmart his opponents and get any real power to make any effective changes. I know this isn't a political discussion. But food for thought maybe, as so many spiritual people just project their own propaganda brainwashed opinions onto these characters and don't see what's really going on . Trump is a very skillful manipulator of reality. What everyone should be concerned with now is if he keeps his promises and stabilized the economy again.
  3. However, I do apologise for littering your thread with my banter. That was naughty of me. Sorry Best friends?
  4. Chill out. It was a joke directed at NTO
  5. @Frogfucius One thing I think is useful to understand, and that is anyone, and i mean "spiritual" people too who believe that things in this world can complete them, make them happy, give them status, or give them inner peace, all human motivations: security, pleasure AND virtue, are all suffering because they do not know who they really are. So it's not just a case of being egotistical, even spiritual people are just as egotistical when claiming high values and 'high consciousness' it's the same ignorance displaced onto another platform. We can get all the philosophical insight in the world, and all the virtue we can to try to compensate for the conditioned belief that there is inherently something 'wrong' with us, but in the end, if you don't understand that you are already whole and complete and that this world has nothing to do with you, then you suffer.
  6. @Kazman Looks like you're not quote ready. You need to have had your psychological problems sorted out first, and by the looks of it, if you agreed with what NTO said, then you more than likely have some emotional problems. My tradition can't teach disturbed minds, the mind has to be calm and satvic and able to observe objects for what they are. Discrimination, dispassion are two qualifications you need to develop first.
  7. @Prabhaker The teaching is not at fault here. It's the fact that people believe in it blindly and most of them never use the teaching for an inquiry. It's just become a religion, so that's what religion does, makes a dualistic philosophy and belief system out of non dual teachings that were meant to only liberate people. Actually, what I think screwed India most was the corrupt caste system?
  8. @NTOgen So you're into moral philosophy too? Why are you picking an argument about something I said? It's a trivial off the cuff remark, but strangely enough there is a lot of truth to it. Stop being so sensitive. An enlightened person like you ought to know that you don't enter into this, never have, none of this has changed you. You are limitless and free. This is about the information, not about how we come across. I don't walk on eggshells for anyone because I'm free to say what I like. If you want something to think about, some grounded irrefutable universal knowledge about reality, then think about this: has anything that has ever happened changed you? If you know who you are, you will have to agree with the fact that nothing that has happened has ever changed you. Yet all samsaris will say that even when the sun goes in for a moment even that movement seems to change them on some level. Is this not true for every single sentient being in the creation? That if they are identified with their samsaric identity then they are changing all the time? So if any teachings we resonate with don't give us these kinds of real insights and directions for inquiry into existence, then our karma hasn't evolved enough to be ready for the real deal. If anyone where to take what I said seriously, about deserving all we get, then wouldn't that actually be the truth? I'm just speaking the truth, you can chose to ignore it if you like. You're free, and always free to ignore it anyway.
  9. @Sprinkles Yeah, it's fine in meditation to just relax and flow with the process. Conscious manipulation of feelings are done indirectly without force or effort by using your intellect and common sense. Negative feelings and states are mainly the product of your behaviour. If you want to feel good you need to do certain things, change your lifestyle a little so that your brain starts serving you better thoughts. All your emotions start as thoughts. So make a list of all the things in your life you think are holding you back (not sleeping properly, not eating the right foods, drugs, alcohol, poor morals, seeking, blaming, identification with thoughts and your circumstances). Conduct a fearless moral inventory on your lifestyle and your mind will benefit greatly from it. And dont swallow any dodgy beliefs if they dont make airtight logical sense.
  10. As much as I love to dislike Gurdjieff and his bizarre offering, I wouldn't be so hasty dismissing knowledge presented to you about the relative reality. In fact, you will most certainly need a comprehensive insight into the workings of samsara if you ever want to free yourself from it. These direct path teachings are fine, but a lot of those guys teaching that stuff are not enlightened by any stretch of the imagination - and there are very good reasons for that. You want to find something that is both direct and indirect knowledge and will give you very clear cut excercises and the logic to back it up. If you were ever to be stupid enough swallow esoteric teachings that are not grounded in common sense and a proper analysis of experience then quite frankly you deserve all you get You will certainly have plenty of those if you tread a watertight traditional path. But experiences are not the be all and end all of enlightenment. Understanding of the lessons contained in experience and a thoughtful, well structured inquiry into existence will do the job cleanly and effectively. Forget about netti netti and other such childish methods. If you like the sound of this, then I can point you in the right direction.
  11. I saw this. Nothing special. It was a bit boring actually. Jim Carrey (nuff said?) Preferred Saturday Night Fever
  12. @Ariel Just because some 30 year old with the brain the size of a small planet wants to sit at home on his own reading books about being enlightened and spending his saturday nights in his bedroom shooting self help videos for kicks, doesnt mean you have to rob yourself of your youth. Perspective and moderation.
  13. @AJoyfulSound I don't know you, but I think there a lesson in here somewhere. And I think the lesson is you are required to take charge of decision making in your life. Resolve your doubts and act and then learn from the action you take. It looks like you are afraid to make a choice for yourself - yeah I know it looks like you imagine yourself to be independent but reading between the lines you re split between all these damned "authorities" that you think hold the answer. None of those ideas hold the answer for you right now, you hold the answer and life is presenting an opportunity to master this aspect right now. Unless you learn to do this, master the developmental milestone of making a choice and throwing caution to the wind, then you will be stuck with this situation until you do whats required of you.
  14. @Bournebee Its great that you are aware of the Schadenfreude others are sadly a victim of. It shows you have come far and that life is removing these negative people for you. Seems you're on the right path. As to tips on finding the right support. It will find you. Just let life continue to clean the garbage out of your life and sit, wait, do your development work and I believe things will turn out for the best. However things work out are for the best. Faith is not a big thing these days, but it does work. Believe me
  15. Well... It made Christian feel better. And that's all that matters. Are you ok Christian, my little pumpkin?
  16. Haha this is true as well . Touché Ok, I agree with you, use whatever works and then let it go. If the inner child stuff works it works, who am I to stand in the way of what works. Just don't get lost in it, like you say. Sounds reasonable my friend ?
  17. @NTOgen This is more about you, isnt it?? It's ok to admit that
  18. @Frogfucius Its apparently winding down. As soon as it was 'born' it started to die. This is in harmony with all things.
  19. Lol. I was going to lay a bet on how long it would take for someone to mention Hitler.
  20. @Frogfucius Thing is, you didn't waste years tormenting yourself. It needed to happen. How do you know it needed to happen? Because it happened. I don't think you understand it quite yet. You had no say in this. So relax and come to terms with it. It's not your life, you're ready free of this life. This life belongs to God, the creator. Give thanks for it, it's nothing to do with you, it's a movie that you have been brought here to watch. Least now you have been given the opportunity to understand it and learn to enjoy it for what it is. Let the knowledge do the work for you.
  21. This is exactly the sort of baloney that's being circulated, especially in some Buddhist sects. It's a real joke and I have absolutely no doubt that some of this is contributing to the demise of Buddhism. The most convincing theory of reincarnation I've heard is from the karma kanda sections of the Vedas and it goes like this: For the sake of simplicity karma is accumulated actions. For example, if you eat an ice cream and enjoy it you create a tendency to repeat that behaviour which causes a preference to repeat that action. It becomes a habit that just lives itself out repeatedly. The traces of these actions are called "fragrances" in the Vedas. The modern scientific explanation (which supports the Vedic theory) is that these tendencies are stored in seed form in the causal body, or if you prefer the DNA or the 'unmanifest'. These genetic tendencies are also called 'vasanas' and it's the vasanas that create another body to continue to act out the karma accumulated in the "previous lifetime". So the "person" and the physical body that the vasanas create is the part that dies (well in actuality energy doesn't even die it is just transformed), but the vasanas continue to live on and they are the aspect that creates the next body. This is why quantum physics asserts that it can prove the existence of God. God is basically the causal body projecting these tendencies outward in order for consciousness to experience itself as forms. That's all we are really as individuals. The vasanas. The Gunas (shakti or energy) are the "fabric" of existence that allows these vasanas to play out. The vasanas provide the action and the Gunas provide the canvas for the action to take place on. So the Gunas are satva, Rajas and tamas. These are just Sanskrit names for the three forms in which shakti appears in form. Satva is the ideas, tamas is the material aspect and Rajas is the projecting power that transforms satva into tamsaic concrete objects. An analogy of this would be the creation of a guitar. Satva is the idea of the guitar, tamas is the materials (wood, metal and plastic) and Rajas is the action that makes the idea into a reality - the energy of assembling the different parts of the guitar to make the idea into a material object. This makes much more sense to me than a lot of the theories put there. Suicide I assume would continue to manifest itself in some negative tendency in the next body that bundle of samksaras creates.
