Do so as it calms the mind and fills the body with feeling. The thinking ‘to awaken’ is counter productive to awakening. Awakening already is, and is covered with misunderstanding, beliefs, misidentification, and misinterpretation. When all else is let go (that’s what meditation & yoga are for) only wakefulness, or being, remains. Then it is the most obvious ‘thing’. The thinking, or, making the primary point ‘to awaken’ reinforces the belief paradigm of the separate self. (Careful not to go down the thought story road of there is a ‘you’ which will awaken, or that there are ‘higher conscious’, or ‘enlightened people’, etc) Make the primary point what resonates, which can not be from anyone else. Deconstruction, inspection, investigation...not obtaining, achieving, becoming. -

It’s already within you. Opening, or, open mindedness is the way. Self exploration & expression is the way. There is a psychological dualistic paradigm which sounds like ‘there is a process & understanding’, which I don’t have / know, and so I am lacking, and so I need to learn ‘how’ (need being related to identifying with the previous thoughts from which lack was derived). That ‘I don’t understand’ is an assumption founded on ‘that there is something to understand’. Make a dreamboard. Write everything & anything you want to do, be, have and experience in this life. Don’t ‘seriously contemplate it’, just add stuff whenever it pops up in thought / feeling. Let thoughts that don’t feel good to you go. Try this each morning, the earlier the better. The better you feel, the more that ‘pops up’. As days pass you’ll experience a vantage point that you have never experienced. You’ll see what you prefer, like, love, desire in a completely new way because it’s in front of you, and not swirling around in thoughts resulting in ‘lack’ etc. It is likely the mind is going to the absence of practical explanation...let that thinking go for now. One step at a time. Having millions of dollars is not as valuable as days filled with all that you love. And of course, there is a absolutely no reason you can not have your cake and eat it to. If I were to give you ten dollars for each dollar you gave me, you’d surely give me all the money you have. Such is letting a thought (the ‘dollar’) in discord with feeling go, and receiving ‘ten dollars’ (insights, passion, epiphanies, excitement, eagerness, jubilation, inspiration, etc). If the mind is occupied in the busy work of voluntary thinking, correcting lack, self improvement, etc, etc, etc...where can the insights arise? Let go. Feel. Express. Watch it come together on your board - watch it ‘show up’ in your life. -

Notice (your) reaction arise, pause, and choose to respond in accordance, alignment, with feeling, with what feels good to you. You’re not responsible for doing this for anyone else. The ‘emotional support’ is always readily abundantly within you. Connect, and you no longer believe the thought that you need emotional support. Be attentive to what you have been inattentive to, reactionary behavior / unaligned being. In doing so, you liberate. This might be just the thing. ?

AWARENESS OF THOUGHTS MEDITATION By learning to watch your thoughts come and go during this practice, you can gain deeper insight into thinking altogether (such as it’s transience) and into specific relationships among your thoughts and your emotions, sensations, and desires. This practice can also help you take your thoughts less personally, and not automatically believe them. Additionally, this meditation can offer insight into any habitual patterns of thinking and related reactions. Observe your thoughts as they arise and pass. By “thoughts,” we mean self-talk and other verbal content, as well as images, memories, fantasies, and plans. Just thoughts may appear in awareness, or thoughts plus sensations, emotions, or desires. Sit or lie down on your back in a comfortable position. Become aware of the sensations of breathing. After a few minutes of following your breath, shift your attention to the various thoughts that are arising, persisting, and then passing away in your mind. Try to observe your thoughts instead of getting involved with their content or resisting them. Notice the content of your thoughts, any emotions accompanying them, and the strength or pull of the thought. Try to get curious about your thoughts. Investigate whether you think in mainly images or words, whether your thoughts are in color or black and white, and how your thoughts feel in your body. See if you notice any gaps or pauses between thoughts. Every time you become aware that you are lost in the content of your thoughts, simply note this and return to observing your thoughts and emotions. Remember that one of the brain’s major purposes is to think, and there is nothing wrong with thinking. You are simply practicing not automatically believing and grasping on to, or ‘clinging’ to your thoughts. When you are ready, return your attention to your breath for a few minutes and slowly open your eyes. Optional: There are various metaphors and images you can use to help observe your thoughts. These include: Imagining you are as vast and open as the sky, and thoughts are simply clouds, birds, or planes passing through the open space. Imagining you are sitting on the side of a river watching your thoughts float by like leaves or ripples in the stream. Imagine your thoughts are like cars, buses, or trains passing by. Every time you realize you are thinking, you can “get off the bus/train” and return to observing. Please be gentle with yourself if you notice that you are constantly caught up in your thoughts instead of observing them. This is both common and normal. When you realize that you are thinking, gently and compassionately return to observing your thoughts. If the content of your thoughts is too disturbing or distressing, gently shift your attention to your breathing, sounds, or discontinue the practice. Remember that you are not trying to stop thoughts or only allow certain ones to arise. Try to treat all thoughts equally and let them pass away without engaging in their content. This practice can initially be more challenging than other meditations. As you are learning, practice this meditation for only a few minutes at a time if that is easier. It can be helpful to treat thoughts the same way that you treat sounds or body sensations, and view them as impersonal events that arise and pass away. Some people like to assign numbers or nicknames to reoccurring thoughts in order to reduce their pull and effect. -
Karma is not conceptual, it’s direct experience. ‘Picking a bone’ with it is creating more of it. It can be held off but it is felt & known by the holder, though one might not understand what it actually is, how it clouds them, and how to release it. Karma is also individuated as well as collective, and transcendent of time.

@28 cm unbuffed Interesting. Just two cents, but I wouldn’t equate the void to the thought loops. Imo, this is the message yet received, of too little foundation and inspection & too much substance. ‘I’ am ‘in the void’ now, and it is a perfect peace and love. No “thoughts”. No thoughts of escape, or running. It is quite noticeable that nothing can be said here, on behalf of a we. By that ‘I’ mean there is no direct experience of a we, and thus there is no possibility of projection, lying, convincing, deluding, escaping an ourselves, no horrifying void, no entities, no matrix. Just this peace & love.

@28 cm unbuffed Just curious, what led to taking 11 - 12 dried grams? Was there a resource / recommendation? Also, what was your foundation like prior to the trip?

Thanks for expanding. That part I get. Takes time from what I’ve seen. This, perception of self, I don’t get. So likewise, this. Maybe you are meaning in the conventional self awareness sense? The lower hanging fruit like awareness of one’s own behavior? -

@PurpleTree Can you see / feel where it is a bit ‘off’ to imply God would need man to... Also, do you acknowledge some implied dualities & self referential thoughts there? -

@neutralempty What do you mean then? -
Nahm replied to Shunyata's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@neutralempty I think it’d be more accurate if that picture depicted the man looking the other way, and covering the reflection, in relation to the topic. I very well might be missing what you’re saying, or implying but not saying. Not sure. If you mean in terms of Self recognition, it’d seem to be an almost perfectly opposite list of behaviorally descriptive attributes, in regard to the Mayo Clinic’s findings / descriptions. -

@Vittorio I love ya brother, the transmutation is downright beautiful. Very happy for you. I would caution however to go through such thoughts & perspectives with the fine tooth comb of what of the basis for such views is direct experience, in comparison to extrapolation from personal experience to collective, individuations, and our source if you will. A YouTube search of Rupert Spira being asked questions on free will might yield some deeper recognition of the spontaneous nature of experience.

No, not at all. Here’s some more specific info (below). Just opinion of course, but I’d be really careful about such a blanket lens. It’d be a trap to mistake judgement for one’s own authoritative measurement contingent on correlations (thoughts) between ‘awake’ & ‘ego consciousness’. There can be seemingly (falsely) awakened narcissists. It is entirely possible to “have awakening experiences” and perpetuate misidentification / dilute, refuse psychological help, refute all feedback, and ‘triple down’ if you will, on a more grandiose bypassing. As well, there are what someone might call ‘ego consciousness’ folks who are authentic, sincere, selfless & loving. Overview Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism. A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed when they're not given the special favors or admiration they believe they deserve. They may find their relationships unfulfilling, and others may not enjoy being around them. Symptoms Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and the severity of symptoms vary. People with the disorder can: Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it Exaggerate achievements and talents Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with their expectations Take advantage of others to get what they want Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others Be envious of others and believe others envy them Behave in an arrogant or haughty manner, coming across as conceited, boastful and pretentious Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they perceive as criticism, and they can: Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special treatment Have significant interpersonal problems and easily feel slighted React with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make themselves appear superior Have difficulty regulating emotions and behavior Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation The recommenced treatment method is psychotherapy / psychoanalysis. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662 -
Focus on anything else, ideally something you enjoy. Also, twenty minutes or so of meditation is enough for thought activity to settle. The dreamboard makes this easy because everything you want to experience etc is in front of you vs in thinking. Anything you think of that you want to do, be, have, you can add it to the board. Meditating every morning in the proactive sense is ideal. It culminates, or, momentum builds in no attachment to thoughts. You might already be doing these, idk. You could also learn about reality via science, like quantum mechanics. Also, Leo’s Letting Go video is very detailed & comprehensive. I imagine if you listened to it each morning for a few days it would really land. Letting go has no ceiling / limit.

That is a belief built on assumption. You have zero experience of that. Let it go. No. -

@Javfly33 What are you talking about when you say ‘awakening’? -
If you let go of a Nahm which thinks, the victim concept, the randomness concept, the state of consciousness concept, and God as separate & decider concept....all that remains is the true nature.
