Your mind always creates your suffering. Just be present and aware... Do not think. Is there a problem? There cannot be unless you think there is. -

@Joseph Maynor You thought you were dead but you you were still trying to work on accepting your death? Haha. You didn't clue into how that process of accepting your death must mean you're not dead? -

Why is there existence? Because it's Infinite. This is what Absolute Infinity looks like. -

That's not even in the same ballpark. The experience of 5 Meo is empty of self, while that experience you described is very much full of self and egoic neediness/ clingyness. -

While it can be fun and mystical-esque to interpret these numbers to mean something, it's also important to consider something in psychology called Confirmation Bias. -

Keep being aware of it. If you get lost in it, fine. Notice that you're lost and return to being aware of it. That is all. -
I'm curious to hear people's opinion on whether psychedelics can be used to access fundamental truths about Reality. Obviously we know Leo is of the opinion that Reality = Absolute Infinity (or Absolute Nothingness) and one can become directly conscious of this by taking 5 MEO DMT. But I'm curious to hear the public opinion. Personally, I have gotten a sense of something I could call Infinity on other psychoactives, namely 2c-b, mdma, mda, mushrooms. There was something revealed in those experiences that felt more true than my ordinary waking reality. Also, how would one respond to someone who would argue that there is no way to prove this "Truth" objectively because it only comes about through a personal subjective experience.

@Arhattobe The Buddha ultimately taught sannyāsa, which is monastic life of the monk, the path of renounciation. People don't become monks to indulge in the world, they do it to attain Nirvana which means "to be blown out". -

The sentiment on this forum is that we should master the dream, but in other spiritual circles, people have the sentiment of renouncing it (Buddhism) -

The key is that you want to stay true and honest with the other person about who you are as a person. You need to find confidence to express who you already are. Otherwise, you'll just be creating a facade of yourself in order to make connections that you think will get the other person to like you. The truth is that they will like you less if you're coming from a place of neediness, of needing to make a connection with them. You're right that people who aren't into spirituality/non-duality think those topics are weird. But let them think that! If they think that, that only says something about them, not you. Don't force things to work out the way you want it. Connect with other people who are interested in spirituality so there is a better chance of forming a genuine connection. -
Do you have meditation practice?

Make sure you're sitting upright with a straight back. That is really key to keeping the practice energized. If you keep falling asleep, your body&mind may just be lacking sleep or you have a poor quality sleep. -

In my experience, binural beats can elicit interesting states of consciousness and calm the mind but are not useful for developing insight into reality. It depends on your aim in meditation. Is it beneficial for cultivating mindfulness or spiritual insight? I would say no. -

Normal. As you diminish your ego in spiritual work, desire also wanes. Ego and desire are like the same thing -- two sides of one coin. With the falling away of ego, desires also falls away. I recommend reading the book "The End of your World" by Adyashanti. He talks about this process at length. -

Great. Succinct and insightful trip report. You should try not eating before for better chance at not feeling nauseous. -

That is a belief and that is the source of your suffering. You have beliefs about what love is. Love is not something you need someone else for. Love is empty of self, it's unconditional, it's not needy. You need to work on your understanding of love. Love is indiscriminate and comes solely within you. The good news is you can still make 2019 the year of love, with or without an intimate partner. The hermit meditator in the cave showers the world with love. ~ Osho -
One point during a trip on 2 grams of cubensis mushrooms, I realized my body assuming strange contortions; my arms interlocked and twisted together and neck bent at different angles. Has anyone experienced these contortions and know what causes them? I have heard before that they have something to do with "energy blocks" or stored emotional trauma?

@Arhattobe I see what you're saying but I guess I'm a bit skeptical of this chakric/energetic system having never directly experienced it. Is there anyway I can make this system evident and see where it's blocked up? -

This is a normal reaction to mystical experience, especially if you hadn't done much spiritual work before that experience. Of course the ego has a tendency to resist mystical experience because those glimpses, it means the death of it. But the death of the ego isn't much of a death at all. As long as you're afraid, you're ego is still alive and well. Spiritual work is about diminishing the ego (and the fear). I recommend checking out the book "The end of your world" by Adyashanti for good guidance on what to do where you are. -

@Arhattobe Do you know what causes these blocks in the first place? How do you they get stored in the body? -
Maya_0 replied to lostmedstudent's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
The mind needs to be constantly watched and tamed (spiritual practice) or else it goes back to it's natural state. And the natural state of the mind is actually one of delusion, ignorance, and corruption. -

Take them blindfolded or in darkness if you're pursuing spiritual insight or some psychological healing. -
Greetings and Happy New Year! It's nice to see this rotating sphere orbit a fireball once again. There's something about this day that makes me want to write about an experience that happened maybe 3 years ago, back when I was regularly experimenting with psychedelics. I know MDMA is not typically considered a psychedelic because it doesn't induce an experience of ego-death. However, in all my experiences with it (about a dozen), I do experience an "ego-dissolution", and during one specific high-dose, I did experience what seemed to me as ego-death for a brief period. That ego-death experience is what I want to talk about here because it was very profound at the time and in all the reading I've done on MDMA and trip reports I've read, I've never heard anyone report something like it. As I remember, the dose I took was 180 mg with a 90 mg booster 90 minutes in. I weigh about 140 lbs, so this was a pretty strong dose. I don't recommend people try this much, actually. The setting was just me alone. I remember feeling extremely good even before taking the booster dose, and then sometime after the 90 mg booster kicked in, I started feeling a very palpable sense of oneness. It was as though I could feel my normal sense of identity expand to become everything. I remember looking around at the room I was in and I felt identical to the objects I was looking at. I no longer felt identical to just my body. I then got up to dance to some music and as I was dancing around feeling this absolutely sublime euphoria, my perception blacked-out for a split-second. I could not hear the music, I could not see, and I don't remember feeling the ground with my feet. This is where I will have a hard time describing my experience but in this moment of black, there was just this immensity of something...but it was also like a nothing. It was immense. And this immensity I could also describe as static, present, and immovable. It literally did not ever move -- it was just there with what seemed the mass of a black hole (even more). There was an intuition that whatever that was, was what I was. I was that immensity. A second later, I'm back in my ordinary reality moving my feet to the music, but once I processed what had just happened, I had to go lay down. I was totally awe-struck at what I had just experienced. "It's forever. The Universe goes on forever," I thought. I didn't really understand what I had just experienced, but at the same time, I knew it was something exceptionally profound. And the profundity of whatever the heck that was, caused tears of love and elation, and bliss, and wonderment to flow down my face like never before in my life.
