@charlie2dogs tbanks sir! I try to be "in the now" any time i can trying to realize that, even though I'm not thinking, i'm still existing (beyond the mind and the body), like a sense of "I am" that is beyond words and thought. Thanks for the heads up ?
-
@charlie2dogs hehe, i know.. It's true i should mention that i add some of my ideas since they are not what Leo says. I think enlightenment is kind of a project since you have to work towards it in some way i believe.. Don't know though how you relate to the subject now that you are self realized
-
@Zane that's great! You could upload some here and we give you feedback. ?
-
@charlie2dogs i copy and paste the title of Leo's video. Regarding the enlightenment part? I sometimes add my own comments and thoughts (i should probably mention it, I'm sorry)

More action isn’t always the answer. In fact, neurosis can be defined by the excessive use of will and actions. You need to reframe how you think about changing your behaviors and improving your life. Awareness alone is curative! You don’t necessarily need to work really hard to change your behaviors. Any unhealthy behavior you have will correct itself with time if you observe it long enough. Usually, when you have problems you are looking for an active solution to it but there is an interesting alternative. You can use the light of your awareness to shine on the problem and trust that with the sufficient consciousness the problem will simply dissolve. Enumerate your problems You cannot engage in an unhealthy behavior while being fully conscious! But there is a catch! For this to work, it requires CONSTANT AWARENESS (you have to be aware throughout the whole thing!). You cannot continue unhealthy behaviors while fully conscious. Awareness is not as easy as it sounds (you have very little of it). It requires patience, it doesn’t work in 5 seconds; it requires a constant application over a long period of time. You try to change it with willpower but it doesn’t work long term How does it work? 1. You have a bad habit and you want it to stop 2. You realize how bad it is to have this habit 3. The next time you catch yourself doing the bad habit, don’t prohibit yourself but do it fully conscious and you maintain your awareness throughout the whole process. 4. Don’t judge yourself nor the situation. 5. Realize that this bad habit is harming your life. The only way you can engage in unwanted behaviors is by being unaware. Pointers - Awareness is not the same as logical knowing. You need to be aware right now, and that is a skill! THERE IS AN AWARENESS MUSCLE! - Being aware is not the same thing as moralizing. - Changes and releases will happen spontaneously - Awareness is not suppression. If you have a real desire to do some unhealthy thing, just do it but do it fully conscious. As you do it, be aware. Don’t try to stop yourself. Awareness is very passive. How and where can you use this? You can use it in any unwanted behavior you want to eliminate. - Overeating - Drugs - Smoking - TV - Videogames - Internet - Facebook - Procrastination - Shyness - Guilt - Perfectionism - Depression - Anger - Anything you want Example of Shyness When you are being shy, watch yourself being in that state (your thoughts, feelings, behavior, how people reacts, what happen after). If you do this day after day after day you will reach a point in which you will no longer be shy (but you have to do it consistently). Example of Depression When you are depressed, be aware when that happens. If you do it consistently, your depression will become impossible (since you cannot create it while being fully conscious). The same with fear! You need to become aware of how your mind works, you cannot change how it works by willpower (it is too powerful). Then only thing that can change your mind is awareness! You cannot solve the problem in the same level that it was created! CHANGE REALLY COMES FROM AWARENESS, NOT BY WILLPOWER! Have faith that change will come by being aware. Surrender yourself to awareness.

Meditation is the single most important self-improvement habit you can have. You still don’t grasp the importance of meditation in your life. How to meditate? (for beginners) You need to make a distinction between thinking and awareness. You make this distinction by meditating only. With time, the distinction between thinking and awareness will become sharper and your life will become insanely great. Meditation is the use of awareness to make the distinction between thinking and awareness. No Manipulation Technique: Sit, notice and be aware of what is happening in this very moment and try to stick with it. You don’t manipulate your body/posture nor your mind. Let the mind experience what he wants. FOCUS ON THE EXPERIENCE YOU ARE HAVING. Sounds very simple but it’s quite challenging. The really hard thing to do is to stop manipulating your experience. How to set the habit? Start with 20 minutes per day. You have to do it every single day for the rest of your life. No vacations, no holidays, no emergencies. Warnings - Have the expectation that in the first year or more you will suck at meditating. - It will be very frustrating in the first year or so. Once you go past this threshold, things will become amazing, but YOU NEED TO STICK WITH IT. - You will realize that you cannot control your thoughts, you don’t have this ability and you will not be able to do it in the future. - You will have bad days. Remind yourself that is in this days that you are growing the most. It will be an up and down process. You will feel suicidal sometimes but you need to remind yourself that this are the moments you are growing the most. - As long as you do it, it counts. What counts in meditation is that you sat down and were aware. - The only way to fail is not to do the habit. - Keep it simple! Sit down and be aware, that’s it. By the end of the year, you have to reach to 1 hour a day! The effects of meditation are beyond description! Leo sold his PS4 and TV because when he sits and do nothing he gets more satisfaction and meaning! You will discover that the level of happiness you have now will exponentially grow by doing absolutely nothing. You will stop being a slave to all this shit. Problems will melt away if you really grasp the distinction between thinking and awareness.

@Leo Gura I'm really looking forward to that! Give a little glimpse of your scheme in one of your videos ?

How to discover if you are a victim? If you say: - I can’t - It’s impossible - It just won’t work in this situation - I tried everything I could - I don’t know how - Etc. - Every other circumstance What makes a victim a victim? A victim thinks that the external world is a bigger obstacle to him than he is to himself. You are the only obstacle! Every obstacle is an illusion; it is your mind the real obstacle. You should be worrying about: - Your mental filters - Your attitudes - Your limiting beliefs - Your judgments - Unquestioned assumptions about reality - Introspection - Visualizations (the images that you run on your mind) - Your monkey mind - Your model of reality - Your emotional reaction - Beliefs - What you view as right of wrong and bad an evil - Habits that you cultivate - Your self-talk (which words do you use when you talk to yourself) - Awareness of the ego and its effects That is the stuff you should be really concerned about. The external word is a projection of your internal word and you don’t realize how much external reality is worked by your psychology. How you think about the world is really important and extremely significant. The reality is that there are no real problems in the external world. A problem is a feature of the mind; they are projections of the mind into the external word. There is no problem without the mind; the problem has to be actually created (your mind has to burn calories to create the problem). Until you grasp this concept, the world will appear hostile, unfair and depressing for you. Thought experiment: Consider that the inner world is all that matters and changing things of the outer world will not matter. The projector metaphor… You should not worry so much about the outer world, you should start caring about your mind and realize that it is not helping you live a great life. Your mind frames every situation in life and usually you are not conscious of this mechanism. Your beliefs about reality are very distorted. If you realize the importance of beliefs, you will start to care about: - Psychology - Philosophy - Contemplation - Meditation - Mindfulness - Intuition - Non Duality - Wisdom - Truth These things will be the burning issues in your mind. Exercise 1- Select one are of your life in which you feel you are a victim 2- Write all your justification of why you can’t change, for why it’s impossible and for why it’s not your fault 3- Identify how to problem seems to be like an external problem 4- Identify how actually the problem is an internal problem 5- Ask: How am I creating the obstacle? 6- Ask: What am I avoiding by creating this obstacle? 7- Ask: What must I believe to be a victim?

@charlie2dogs What do you mean by life force? The I am? The sense of life I have right now?
-
@charlie2dogs So basically, the most rapid way to self realization is try to live consciously more often and focus on the life force within you?

What are should statements? Any time of your life when you or somebody else tells you you should do X, or shouldn’t do C. List of should statements: - People should be nice to me - Children should respect their parents - People shouldn’t steal from me - Politicians shouldn’t lie to me - Corporations shouldn’t be so greedy - I shouldn’t be so lazy and watch TV - I shouldn’t masturbate - My mom shouldn’t be so stubborn - People should be more understanding and tolerant - My girlfriend should stay in shape - I shouldn’t be fact - I should wake up earlier - I should meditate better - My business should be more successful - I should be earning more - Etc. The radical insight is: “Stop making should statements” There is a subtle but very significant difference between “can” and “should”. If you want to live a better life, consider stop making “should” statements. The world is exactly as it should be and it should not be any other way that it is. When you tell yourself that reality should be some other way, it is an expectation of your ego, not reality itself. If reality doesn’t help your survival needs, you try to change it to serve your self-agenda. Why are “should” statements problematic? These rules are overly simplistic. To have an actualized life you need to live consciously, determining what is right or wrong in a specific scenario. It is not always wrong to eat candy, or get wasted and party, or do some drugs, or get a divorce, etc. You need to start questioning where do the rules you have come from. Question your dogmas! Way to let go should statements 1- Identify your ”should” statement 2- Flip it around: If it’s a should, make a shouldn’t 3- Identify the resistance within you and notice that it actually feels truer that your original statement. Not always you should or should not do something. All your should statements are actually fantasy. A self-actualized person doesn’t need strict laws and rules to do the right things. List of should statements to flip around: - He should treat me better/He should not treat me better: The first one is fantasy, the second one is real. People will treat you bad and it’s okay. - I should be good/I should be bad: The reality is you will be bad sometimes and to expect a different thing is neurotic because you would be rejecting reality. - I shouldn’t feel ……./I should feel ……..: You should feel guilty, afraid, confused, etc. - People should like me/People shouldn’t like me - He shouldn’t cheat on me/He should cheat on me: Don’t resist the reality that people actually cheat. - I should be more confident/You shouldn’t be more confident - I shouldn’t feel frustrated when I meditate/I should be frustrated when I meditate The problem in all these situations is that you are rejecting reality! You need to accept what is. Stop resisting reality and let go. You need to embrace your humanity and your imperfections. Should statements put ideals in your life that doesn’t resemblance reality and make you suffer. You think you should have a perfect life but it is impossible. WHAT IS PERFECT IS REAL; YOU NEED TO REDEFINE YOUR DEFINITION OF PERFECTION. Should statements make you feel obligated to do things; you are not doing thing because of natural desire but obligation. It also put you out of integrity and feel conflicted since you have to deny some parts of you. You need to create models of reality that resemble as much as you can reality. When you use a lot of should’s you will feel guilty and angry with life. To eliminate guilt just throw away any rule of how you should be and accept yourself as you are. WHAT YOU RESIST, PERSIST. Should statements makes you feel trapped. It’s only when you have full freedom that you can live a conscious life and take the right choices about how you create the life you want. People think that without should statements they will not have motivation to do stuff. It is only true if your only sources of motivations are should statements and obligations. If you only have this motivations, you will fuck up. Start noticing that every time you make a should statement it’s leading to suffering in your life. NOTICE HOW BAD THIS HABIT IS. Imagine for a moment that your life contains no should statements. Imagine how would you feel about these aspects of your life: - Gym - Nutrition - Parenting - Finances and money - Politics - Drugs - Relationships - Work schedules - Career - About being a nice person - Terrorism and murder You would not be pissed off about anything. You will act accordingly to the situation but not getting involved in a battle in your head (ego stuff). You will be rational and grounded to take decisions and observe the situation. Objections 1- “There are things that are clearly evil”: What you call evil is a creation of your mind. 2- “How do I be good?”: You be good by following your desire. You are run by your desires, not your moralistic ideals. You become good when you accept reality as it is and follow your natural desire. 3- “How do I get things done?”: Follow your desires. You are lazy because you are full of should’s and shouldn’t’s. When you accept everything that you are you will have tons of high consciousness desires that come up within you. You will be genuinely passionate for things if you drop your shoulds. 4- “Aren’t you contradicting yourself?”: You need to accept yourself more. 5- “What about making reality better?”: First you accept reality, then you accept your desires and you will be naturally doing stuff to change reality. 6- “How do I lose weight?”: You let go off your should, you get in touch with your authentic desires to be healthy rather than all your obligations. If you get in touch with your natural desire to be healthy you will naturally want to go to the gym. 7- Don’t tell people they should do something or don’t do something, you need to train people to make decisions. You want to live a CONSCIOUS LIFE. The problem is not with the word “Should” but the belief within it. The solution is to stop the rule. Also realize that every action has its consequences. How to apply this 1- Become mindful of how many rules you have. 2- Question the ones that are not gonna break or make your life 3- Drop the rule: If you drop the stop drinking rule, you will probably drink a lot in the first month but realize that this was not a failure, it is part of the growth process. Exercise 1- Write down your top 50 should statements. 2- Then flip them all around. 3- Be mindful of all the should’s you create in your life and how this generates negative emotions.

Your model of morality (what you think is right or wrong, good or evil) is actually having the opposite effect that you want it to have and severely stunting your growth and psychological wellbeing as well as your self-actualizing potential. There are stages of morality in which human psyche evolves and develop: 1- Pre-conventional morality: a. You act to not do wrong so you don’t get punished b. You do good so you get rewards. 2- Conventional morality: a. The reason that you do something is because if you didn’t you would not be conforming and you will create disapproval from people around you. b. The reason that you do something is because a higher authority told you so. 3- Post-conventional morality: a. Social contract theory: If you are a member of a community you should act in a way so to preserve the peace (“we are in the same boat”). b. Principled based morality: You act based on internal principles. You are acting based on your own conscience and on your own sense and intuition. 4- Transcendent morality: it is when you become enlightened, everything becomes you and you act compassionately with everyone and everything since you actually perceive the entire world as your body. You recognize that all of existence is actually a huge ball of love and everything is unconditionally loved by you (even the bad stuff). Traditional morality The problem with traditional morality is that is damaging and dangerous. It promotes unconscious obedience of rules and authority figures. The problem is that you are doing this in an unconscious way and this leads to moralization. What moralism is, is a rigid set of do’s and don’t’s where you dissect and fragment reality, applying them your judgment. Everything that is on the evil side you judge it and deny it. Every should and shouldn’t is a type of moralization. The worst form of moralism are the rules that you created for yourself and what should/shouldn’t happen in life and how you view it. The rules you create for other are rules that you create for yourself too! If you judge someone for being evil/greedy/cheater, then you will judge yourself if you do this 5 years later. The problem with morality is mechanicalness. You cannot create a black or white rule of how life should be and then expecting life to go according to your beliefs and also expecting yourself to mechanically behave in an unconscious way according to that rule. To actually be moral and good, you need to do it from a place of consciousness and awareness of the present moment, from there comes the greatest good. If you create rigid rules, you will unconsciously follow them and most of the times these rules cannot apply to real world situations. Your whole model of reality is based on certain rules that you created/learned that doesn’t fit to reality. These rules are created from fear and driven by your ego. You act defensively to protect yourself and the model of the world that you created. Morality is a tool of the ego to reinforce your identity. The rules you have were taught to you by your parents and are now deeply engrained in the OS of your mind and you are unconscious of these mechanisms. Rules are manipulations made by egos to manipulate the outcomes they want. Since most rules are external, mostly everything you do is externally motivated (you do it because you have to, because you should) and you don’t do things because you want to or love. You are fragmenting yourself and you create a sense of fragmentation within yourself. When you deny your thoughts and desires, you create a shadow out of the ego. If you create a rule saying that something is good, you are naturally creating a rule saying that other thing is bad. The real tragedy is that moralization denies a part of reality (and you will always lose). The ego’s whole game is to feel better than … and aggrandize himself to feel alive (but he can’t, he is an illusion). Moralizing leads to hypocrisy. When you call something evil, you are denying an aspect of reality and an aspect of yourself as well. It also creates - Guilt - Hatred - Judgment - Shame You also moralize in subtle ways: - When you say that you shouldn’t eat that hamburger at work - When you say to yourself that you have to go to the gym. - When you say that you have to go to the gym. - When you tell yourself that your girlfriend shouldn’t be talking to other guys - When you tell yourself that people should treat you in a good way. - Politicians should be more honest. - Every should and shouldn’t The problem with this, is that it creates low self-stem and creates self-hatred and self-sabotage. Anxiety and stress comes from moralizing (and victim mentality too). Moralizing can take two forms: - Self-righteousness: When you say that you are doing great and people should copy you. - Victim mentality: It uses moralizing to itself (“I should be …”). The opposite of morality is integrity. You accepted the light and the dark parts of you (the ego and the shadow had been integrated). Now, form this place, you can act naturally and spontaneously; your actions are not good or bad and you are not a good or a bad person, YOU TRANSCEND THE GOOD AND BAD PARADIGM. Transcendent Morality It is a pure consciousness of what is true. There is no morality, there is only reality and it is totally free. There are no rules and laws, these are human constructions. There is only Being (raw direct experience). Being is neutral and lawless and good/evil do not exist. There are no should’s at all, what is, is exactly what it should be. You have all these fantasies of what should or should not exist but reality doesn’t give a fuck, reality is what is and what you think and believe is your own fucking problem. You need to drop your fantasies of how reality should be like and there will be no problems. Reality is too perfect to adapt to your stupid beliefs. You need to let go and surrender to what is actually real. If you actually grasp this, you will realize that you cannot judge anyone anymore. What is, is exactly what should have been, BECAUSE IT FUCKING HAPPENED and there are not alternate realities. The whole purpose of maintaining your ego is to not let go the illusion of free will and little control over reality. The ego fights for control over something that he has no control over. You can still do anything but whatever you do is how it should always be and you are not doing it, the whole universe is doing you. You will have true compassion because when you melt your ego into reality, you will be awed and amused by reality as it is. You will love reality so much that you will realize that reality is loving itself. Are you gonna be reality working with itself or fighting against it? You think that if you don’t have free will you will lose all your freedom but in reality it is the opposite. Now you are constrained by the illusion of control over something you don’t have control over. If you become enlightened, you will gain a sense of freedom since there are no rules. True morality is no morality. If you don’t have morality, you will be the most moral person in the world. “Love your sins to death” Integrating your shadow is the way to minimize evil. A good test of how developed you are is: When someone does harm to you, how accepting are you? How loving of it are you?

Most people’s life pace is too damn fast, too hectic, you have no time to contemplate, you have no time to introspect, to be aware of conscious, no time to strategize and no time for being. You need to make a strategic change and slow down your life. You need to slow down your life from 25% to 50%. You need to do 50% less of the shit you do and what remains, do it 50% slower (like having a meal). You need to eliminate all the activities that consume your free time. You want to aim to live a simple life. YOU NEED LOTS OF FREE TIME TO THINK (you can measure your wealth with how much free time you have). Free time has more correlation with fulfillment than success. The environment you live is extremely neurotic and doesn’t help you in your self-actualization. The modern lifestyle that you live is unhealthy and neurotic. It’s impossible to be mindful and conscious with a fast pace. You are so addicted to doing that you forgot about being. If you go to a 10-day Meditation Retreat, you can experience the joy of being and you will realize that many of the things you have are useless and don’t bring you fulfillment. You can create a life in which you are more being than doing! Careful with success, the only objective you have with success is to create more fulfillment, but this is a rat race. YOU MUST STRATEGICALLY SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE, this means: - Cut activities - Cut commitments - Pull out of hobbies - Brake relationships with people - Keep saying no to new stuff! You need to renounce material life all together in the long run because it doesn’t work and doesn’t increase your levels of fulfillment! You will have to renounce your current life your gain TRUE REAL LIFE! The shit you are living now is not a life, that is you being a hamster in a wheel. Your hyperactive lifestyle is bullshit. A fulfilled person doesn’t need to be hyperactive. Strategy You need to focus on the crucial things in your life and get ride off anything else. Key things to focus on: - Meditation - Enlightenment - Life Purpose - Education and Learning - Slow deliver mindful action - Contemplation - Being You have to minimize: - Your friendships - Your relationships - Your family commitments - Your hobbies - Any fun activities you have Think how your life can transform if you really apply these advises in 10 years. YOUR LIFE WILL BE RIDICULOUSLY SATISFYING AND EXTRORDINARY IF YOU DO THIS FOR 10 YEARS. You need to cultivate being and stop doing stupid shit, you need to strategize more! You need to create the lifestyle of a sage! The rewards that comes when you focus on turning inwards and cultivation of beings are better than any success you can achieve or the best orgasm that you’ll ever have; you will feel like you are back in childhood, a sense of freedom and really being connected to reality. You will need to let go of success and goals and give yourself more time to read, meditate and being. You need to say no a lot more, THINK LONG TERM! In your deathbed, all your social shit is not gonna matter, all your money is not gonna matter, all the fun things you did is not gonna matter; what is gonna matter is your connection to being and reality. Are you conscious of your own existence? YOU NEED A SPIRITUAL CONECTION TO REALITY AND TO THE PRESENT MOMENT. You are not gonna be able to rip the rewards in the first months, you need years and years of work to start feeling a real connection to reality. You need to release, let go and exhaust your carnal cravings (food, sex, drugs, music, fun, stimulation in very sort). You need to exhaust and release those! YOU CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE THE MAGNITUDE OF AWESOMENESS THAT YOUR LIFE CAN ATTAIN IF YOU FOLLOW THESE ADVICES.

“The strength of man’s position in the world depends on his degree of adequacy of his perception of the world and reality. The less adequate, the more insecure he is and, hence, he is in need of idols to lean on and find security. The more adequate it is, the more he can stand on his own feet and has his center within himself.” Deficiency Cognition/Perception vs Being Cognition/Perception Self-actualized people have B-Cognition! Maslow’s Definition for B-Cognition: A self-actualizing person is more able to perceive the world as if it were independent, not only of him, but also of human beings in general. Therefore, he can look upon nature as if it were there in itself and for itself and not as a human playground put there for human purposes. He can more easily refrain from projecting human purposes onto it and in a word, he can see it is there in its own being rather than a something to be used or something to be afraid of or something to be reacted to in some other human way. A section of cancer seen through a microscope, if only we can forget it is a cancer, can be seen as a beautiful and inspiring organization. A mosquito is a wonderful object if seen as an end by itself.” It is the ability to look at things holistically, as they actually are in a very attentive way, without judging or classifying these thing. It is a egoless and self-agenda-less form of perception; it is unmotivated, impersonal, desireless, unselfish, not needing and detached. It is the ability to perceive an object for itself, not the way it is for you. Your desires and fears and emotions don’t get reflected into the object (physical, living object, institutions, etc.). How you perceive an object is very important since it dictates how you will react to it. If you perceive an object for itself you get the most accurate representation of it. If you perceive an object as it is for you, you get a distorted view of it. You don’t project yourself and your desires into the things you are perceiving. “Self-actualizing people take a non-valuing, non-judging, not-condemning attitude towards others. A desireless-ness and a choiceless awareness; this understanding permits a more clear and insightful perception about what is actually there.” “Concrete perceiving of the whole of the object implies also that it is seen with care; the care that a mother would give to his infant, or the lover at his beloved. This will surely produce a more complete perception than the usual and casual one.” It is the difference between looking at something and seeing it as it is vs what we normally call perception. D-Cognition: Ordinary perception; partial and incomplete form of experience. It is a deficient and anxiety based way of perceiving the world. It is driven by the ego and your self-agenda. The degree in which you have deficiencies and need safety (money, girls, etc), that is the degree to which you are gonna evaluate the things you look at to see if they can give you something that you need. Your mind is very brilliant to filter what it is relevant and what it is not relevant. You perceive things in regard of what you need and want, not what it is in reality. You are constantly judging reality! The D-Perception is anthropocentric, it is the way humans look at the world; It is rigidly rational and abstract (you create your personal model of reality to fit into your self-agenda and ego). You confuse abstractions with perception itself. People cannot stand paradox in d-cognition. It also is ideological and pragmatic. “In ordinary cognition, the object is it is seen not so much per say, but as a member of a class, as an instance of a larger category. This kind of perception is described as classifying and, again, what you need to realize is that this is not a full perception of the object as it is a kind of classifying and labeling. It implies comparing and contrasting.” “Abstractions, to the extent that they are useful, are also false. In a word, to perceive an object abstractly means not to perceive some aspects of it; it clearly implies selection of some attributes, discarding some others and creation and distortion of some others.” “In order to perceive reality fully you need to suspend judgments and classifying, to need and to use. The moment we classify reality we cut the possibility to see it as a beautiful thing.” “Fully disinterested and holistic perception of another human being becomes possible when nothing is needed from him.” “Self-actualizing people can abstract without giving up concreteness and vice versa.” Your own egoic deficiencies distorts reality. The very interaction of you and reality is compromised by your lack of mental health and the accuracy of your perceptions depends on your emotional and mental maturity (the distortion is huge, even though you don’t realize it) and many of the issues you have in your life are created by this distortions. THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU HAVE ARE CREATED BY YOUR PERCEPTIONS. You need to start to notice how your mind distorts and judge reality. You mind creates a model of reality and then tries to fit actual reality in it rather than seeing it as it really is. You are living in an augmented reality. We are the only organism that live in an augmented reality distorted by our concepts, fantasies and ideas (we don’t realize of this augmentation). The ego creates a kind of smog that doesn’t let us see reality as it is. “Thoughts is always doing a great deal, but it tends to say that it hasn’t done anything, that it is telling you the way things really are but it distorts everything. What thoughts takes to be perception it’s actually highly affected by it. Thought can produce experiences without us being aware that they were produces by thoughts. It is this deceptive feature of thought that we have to look for. You need to see that thought is actually participating in perception.” You need to realize that this is a systemic problem and the mind is biased by itself. What can you do? Create awareness around this topic and realize that you perceive life from your own deficiencies. YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR YOURSELF AND REALIZE HOW YOU REFLECT YOUR OWN AGENDA INTO REALITY, PEOPLE AND SITUATIONS. You need to start looking at objects and people for themselves as they actually are, not how they are for you. Projections of your mind that are not features of reality itself: - Labels and names that we give to objects - Categories and hierarchies - Meanings, judgements, values, usefulness and purpose - Emotional Triggers (every time you get emotionally triggered by situations, are also creations of your mind) - Relationships between objects: In reality, everything in the universe is extremely related to everything else in the universe; relationships are infinite. Everything is more complex than you can imagine. - Separations and boundaries: Objects themselves are creations of your mind. If you look upon reality with complete lucidity you will see that there is no single object and boundary in it. - Problems: Problems are creations of the mind, reality has no problems. How to change how you perceive? It requires practice (10,000 hours). Select an object or person that you either hate or love and then see it for itself as it actually is. See it independent of your and its values. Look at the object as God was looking at it. Look at it not even as an object (since it is just an abstraction of your mind). Enlightenment is the dissolution of the ego smog; same thing for meditation and mindfulness. You cannot self-actualize if you don’t improve your cognition. You cannot self-actualize if you maintain your ego (enlightenment). You can improve your life without enlightenment but you will not get to that part of life that it is really juicy and satisfying. You need to make the following choice: - Are you gonna stay faithful to your self-agenda or to reality? Self-agenda is the distortion of reality. “The monster and the little boy metaphor”. If you are wise enough to see the greater good, you will create an extraordinary life!
