  1. @Giulio Bevilacqua nobody is going to change their diet because of a vegan protest. not even protesting against obvious poisons like synthetic sugar, alcohol and soda is going to be effective. by protesting, you're just feeding the feeling of discontentment. i'd just get out of such ideologies altogether. keep up your practice and that's good enough. if you want to convince others to change their diets, live an amazing life and build an extremely healthy mind/body system. people will be more inclined to change their diets because of the way that you experience life. they will ask you what you've been doing and eating. no protests needed.
  2. no way out of the search, due to extreme suffering. that's usually when transformation actually takes place because the breaches and farces of the ego become clearer. in practice, the generic picture of such situation is someone crying, feeling weak and thirsty for deep changes. oh, i still remember the feeling. i'm so grateful.
  3. i understand what @non_nothing said and it's a proper thing to say, depending on the perspective. it's not something to be taken literally as an absolute truth, of course. there certainly is enlightenment. people go through crazy mystical experiences and, after proper integration, they come out on top, lighter, happier and healthier than before. the difference is radical and it's very easy to notice.
  4. i agree to some extent. there exists realization of True Nature and there exists the alignment with it. but people love intellectualization and pride. people like to turn this into a big thing... or even a business!
  5. okay. now you know why you, as an individual experience, are not special alone. now you know why we shouldn't lie or do harm to others. the real journey starts now. everything else was just a play of words.
  6. @Pat Pagano hi. from my experience, addictions are not the root problem. addictions are symptoms of emotional holes and repressions. if you want to stop your addictions, you have to remake the way you live. this is how i stopped my porn, alcohol, masturbation and weed addictions. changing the way i lived was the hard part. leaving those toxicities behind was pretty easy if compared to changing. i'm sorry if you're not comfortable to talk about it but i'm going to ask anyways. what are your wounds? how do you relate to your family and friends? what do you think about the opposite sex? i always recommend the following video on this subject: we're always seeking happiness, but it doesn't mean that we're seeking on the right places.
  7. and yet, both of them are fundamentaly wrong. it doesn't matter how clever and precise you are. any explanation of reality is fundamentaly wrong. at least, physics is practical and allows us to build amazing stuff with engineering.
  8. whatever you think of yourself is just a thought. the thought is a real phenomenon but the content of the thought is not. that's why it's illusory. your self-image is just a huge set of beliefs that you evaluate as True (consciously or unconsciously). that's why it's very very important to meditate. meditation gives you the ability to let go of your beliefs.
  9. what does "ok" mean to you? you seem to be confused because you have a mentally biased belief about enlightenment. and no. enlightened beings are compassionate about the pain and suffering of others.
  10. humans and everything else are made out of consciousness. you can't have it. you can't lose it. you are it.
  11. the human is a more complex system, capable of reacting to pain and acting upon its self-defense. have you ever seen people born with a disease that don't allow them to feel pain? their bodies become full of scars and small pieces ripped off, like parts of their lips and tongue.
  12. no no, what i meant is that you can have a glimpse of what would happen if you practice very simple principles consistently. because your own life would transform into an amazing experience and then you would be able to imagine it escalating to higher magnitudes. also, working together is easier than it seems. if you live by the principles of yoga, for instance, we'll be already working together even though we've never met each other. in fact, you'll be working together with many many sattvic beings.
  13. what's wrong with people not wanting to get into the subjects you enjoy? if you can't appreciate people for who they are, that's not their problem. try it yourself... try to truly enjoy their preferred subject instead of expecting them to do it first. i bet that person didn't go to an online forum to complain about a guy who didn't talk about how delicious meat is.
  14. i'm not @Serotoninluv but i'll answer you this: start by living without violence and lies and you will have a glimpse within 2 years.
  15. it doesn't matter how open (i think you're talking about the degree of freedom) a game is as long as it offers an api to its core engine that doesn't create a serious bottleneck on the fast-forward mode. the philosophical drive for AI is to understand how the human mind works. right now, if you train an AI to play super maio it won't be able to play sonic very well and vice-versa. but that's not true for human beings... we do learn a lot about sonic (or any 2D platform game) just from learning how to play super mario. and even though it's common sense in terms of human experience, it's quite fascinating when you break it down in terms of formal algorithms (how it actually works in more fundamental levels). there are several directions for the next steps. one of them is to design a learning framework that can generalize well across learning experiences. this video is a little bit old (2017) but it introduces the problem and gives you a taste of what it is like to learn as a computer.
  16. @luckieluuke yes, that's an interesting insight. just a technical detail to keep in mind: this kind of AI learning framework (reinforcement learning) requires access to an environment that allows immense speed up. that's why it can learn to play turn-based games and games that offer api's to communicate with their engines without needing to render graphics. so it's not like it can learn anything.
  17. give us a practical example and we can study it together
  18. attachment to ego is a problem and so is attachment to Truth. this is one of the finest and hardest principles of well-being to embody after a few years of mystical experiences and integration.
  19. the monkey mind starts to panic and create all sorts of imaginary gibberish as a desperate move to incite the feeling of fear, aversion or even trauma.
  20. @Hugo Oliveira build a solid meditation habit and don't take any psychedelics until you've realized the illusory nature of your self-image. psychedelics can be too overwhelming if you're still attached to thoughts.
  21. being selfless and not taking care of yourself are very different things. being selfless just means that you don't exploit/manipulate people and that you help them when you can. trying to help people regardless of your own well-being is an example of irresponsibility, which counts for "not taking care of yourself".
  22. @TheAvatarState alright, i give up. i guess you'll need some extreme mystical experience.
  23. @TheAvatarState the best life? "best" is a human conception... ONE means that there's no separated place for "data". data is everywhere. intelligence is everywhere. data, intelligence, matter, spirit, software, hardware are the same thing. everything is ONE distributed system with infinite granularity.
