  1. The spiral dynamics framework is not exclusive. I mean, when you go up in the spiral, you don't forget what you have learned. For instance, Turquoise communities are not chaotic. In fact, if you don't have fully integrated Blue, you'll find Turquoise communities to be oppressive! Whilst people at Turquoise will just get along with the flow and live there at peace. Don't think that the order that emerges from Blue is bad. It's a necessity for highly complex societies.
  2. @Svartsaft Let go of the craving for benefits. Watch the impulses of the ego starve. Learn your way to the peaceful state of mind of no desires.
  3. I found the following video very intriguing. I think it can help a lot of people on this forum who are trying to achieve higher goals in their lives.
  4. Not trying to be picky, but aren't those manifestations of learned helplessness already? It's a very tricky thing! I'm not inside your guys' heads, but I'd say that the first gut feeling should be "I can do it by myself!".
  5. @ShaharA Thanks a lot! I couldn't find the movie "Epilog" on IMDb. Could you link it here, please?
  6. @Master Lin Chi Welcome! I hope you stay strong This forum may help you if you're interested in growth.
  7. @Commodent You can do it all and still finish your CS course. It's just a matter of time management. Computer Science gives you a powerful set of tools to do a lot of things in your life. I am a computer scientist myself... I got my master's degree in 2018 in Artificial Intelligence. If you want to talk about the depths of CS on how it can help a LOT of people or talk about time management, feel free do do it here or just send me a PM. Good luck!
  8. That is some great way to phrase it. Thanks!
  9. @Raphael Create your portfolio. Make a Github page that tells who you are in a more attractive way. Example: https://github.com/raphaelvallat/raphaelvallat.github.io
  10. Where does that government's money come from? Also, keep in mind that powerful AI systems require expensive hardware and engineers.
  11. @Solvinden Does this thread relate to you?
  12. @Surfingthewave Don't stop meditating. Take your meditation with you 24/7.
  13. @Merkabah Hello there! I'm very interested in finding good solutions for Fibromyalgia because a close friend of mine is suffering from it. Please keep us updated about what has worked for you and what hasn't. Thanks!
  14. It depends on the discipline of the mind. What you said doesn't apply to me. If I'm doing something that challenges me, it's very hard for me to stop. In fact, I have to be careful because I even forget to drink water and eat due to strong focus.
  15. Unfortunately, MGTOW has a lot of extra baggage. Achieving emotional mastery, autonomy and authenticity is just a basic aspect of growth. Its been known for a very long time. The MGTOW movement, as it happens today, also contemplates blaming, complaining and raging. I visited a MGTOW forum once... it's an ugly thing.
  16. @WHO IS I am not a believer of individual reincarnation. As far as my insights have taken me, the Spirit reincarnates. But Spirit is the fabric of Reality itself, rather than an individuality. The Spirit does remember itself through the histories that we listen to. We know about Hitler, Beethoven etc. New scientists can continue the work of dead scientists and so on.
  17. What if the human experience were one of the most advanced experiences in the Universe? The simple fact that it's possible to be conscious of GOD as a human being is already rare enough in the entire Existence as we know it.
  18. Short answer: no. Taxes are used to maintain the social structure. Do you like having lights on at night? Do you like having streets to drive through? Do you like public education? Do you like public health services? Do you enjoy having police to protect you from raids, robberies and murderers? Do you think it's important to have a public justice system that works? Mankind is evolving slowly. We will gradually achieve a better and better society. Taxes are a great idea. There are two major problems, though: We're born in a society that has its own modus operandi. If all of your answers to my questions above were "no", then you might as well just go live on your own in the jungle. Or maybe even start your own community (there are plenty alternative communities out there); The average human creature is easily corruptible. It's very likely that people will just screw up and do wrong things with the huge amount of money that's collected from taxes.
  19. The answer to the question above is in the answer to the following question: how come are you alive in the first place?
  20. What motivation? The one related to surveillance? It doesn't sound selfish but it doesn't sound like a vision that is high enough either. Another trick is: make sure that you're working at your peak. Challenge yourself. Take your learning capabilities to its limits.
  21. My biggest trick is having huge visions for mankind. I want to use my mathematical skills to reforest the planet and mitigate world hunger. One thing that I found out is that egotistical motivations vanish too quickly and altruist motivations last forever. I work with Artificial Intelligence / Data Science. I work/study at least 10 hours everyday. If I want to solve complex problems, I need to master the basic bricks (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probabilities and Statistics). New algorithms, heuristics, techniques, technologies and results arise everyday, so catching up requires a strong commitment. But those are my long-term goals. The path that I plan is paved with lots of short-term goals, which dictate what exactly I need to do in every moment.
  22. @Shin Great topic! It opens room for a lot of virtuous contemplations. I agree with almost everything you said. Of course, we're both going to talk about ourselves here and since you're not married yet (I think) you're not able to fully comprehend what it means to have shared responsibilities. I just want to make it clear that I am highly dependent on my wife. How is that so? When 2 human beings share the same space and open up to each other, they're will share emotional states as well. When one is not feeling well, the other will do whatever it takes to aid him/her. This spontaneous will to help is a beautiful and rare thing nowadays. There's also functional dependency. I depend on my wife to setup our living place as our home. She depends on me to pay the bills and buy our food. Those are both equally important and beautiful missions. Another thing that I'd like to add is that most of what you've said is actually about being human in the first place.
