  1. sadhguru mentioned that just by looking at the water in certain way can change the molecular structure of water , but chemical composition remains unchanged. same with food we eat and air we breath. i'm curious about that is it possible to affect quality of an object with just inner energy(thoughts, emotions), with what extent and if is it possible to observe it. for example like the way monks break bricks. can they harden their bones and muscles? make bricks softer? ... so on. i'm a pianist and i have read, that great pianist are able to produce warmer and brighter sound which is not associated with technique but with the way their minds works. (which i believe to be true, most of the time i can immediately tell ,in particular, which pianist am i listening too just by listening first few note because they carry a particular emotional pattern, for example glen gould -cold and rigorous , rosalin tureck - kind and warm)
  2. you maybe have seen tons of videos about willpower(including Leo's) and tried to develop it and it did not quite worked or it sometimes works, sometimes it does not, but you have no way of making it work all the time, like being in full control of ones behaviors, having full self-control. reason is everybody misses the point. the point is: human behavior is not based only on rational decision (you cant just say i will meditate for 10 hours a day and the do so) the thing is human behavior is based on the emotional power.(that explains why some people do crazy things that does not make sense) but to make willpower work we need to combine these two. for this one we will need a clear definition of- willpower:(power to follow ones intention) so to make it work we will need to get 3 things down, will(rational decision) and power(emotional power) the main reason you cant make willpower work is: you are not aware or don't truly believe(you are full of doubts) in your intention(will). you don't posses enough energy(power) to do it. and you don't know how to do it. to achieve complete self control we must learn generate those things by ourselves, they should not happen outside of our consciousness. how to generate intention: this process is mostly intellectual, requires thinking, basically its what you want, you should make your intention clear , you must not have doubts. the complexity, simplicity, value and beauty of ones desire is based of persons awareness of the life and universe, how much he knows and understands the life and universe and the way they work. for me its 'do something the humanity needs the most' 'love of music' 'being grateful for being alive' so on... how to do it: this one requires imagination and creativity which is based on the same: deepness of awareness the person possesses. how to generate energy: once you know what and how to do it now you need to know why(reason) to do it. you literally have to sit down and think of a (strong, clear, no doubts) reason to do something until you generate sufficient energy/emotion/power to do it (now this is very hard to do and needs to be practiced). you have to learn emotional control and take it to the next level so you are able to create strong emotion by just thinking.(it requires strong visual concentration) so to make willpower work you have to be aware of: what to do how why there shall be no doubts about any of listed above and reason should be sufficient to generate strong emotion to allow you do to.(things which usually are very hard to do) one more thing: we often forget, we need to practice self-remembering. eventually you will forget the reason you do something and that's why mostly it fails. things is you have to keep remembering every single time you forget why you do things the way you do them. until it becomes part of you like language you speak.
  3. @Joseph Maynor i conceptualize what i can observe. this in not philosophical concept, it's a psychological concept. concepts only have value if they can be 'translated' from fiction to reality. when you say there is no you, no willpower, no control it's same as when someone says: there is no spiderman , no batman, no superman, they don't exist in reality but they exists in fiction/inner world/conceptual world and they serve as communicators of real world. there's no point denying existence of what does not exists. but if you deny their usefulness, you would be lying yourself.
  4. @Visitor fear and love indeed is important factor, but interest is most powerful which does not last long, but its read deal. when one starts self-actualization it is based on pure interest, because you fucked up in life and now you wonder if it might work, but soon after if you wont develop lets say 'love' (i prefer appreciation/gratefulness) towards self-development and evolution (because it makes you better person and makes life more valuable), it will fade away.
  5. @PetarKa reason is beauty, searching, noticing and able to observe, being involved and receive enjoyment from beauty. reward is strong powerful emotions and state of mind which is perceiving life. art and science is best example. what gives me reason(emotion, power, energy) to do things is truly appreciate the aesthetics of the creation. for example: from being with people you love, to listening wagner's symphonies. and most importantly refining ones consciousness(actualizing self) to be able to do all of this.
  6. @Joseph Maynor i observed what causes the particular human behavior. point i want to make is source is not the rational decision but pure emotions such as courage, hatred, love and where are those emotions concentrated. ( not many agree on this but i have my experiences as proof for myself) the biggest suffering human can have is feeling of being machine. when the body and the mind does not take instructions from you. i have explained in my way how to deal with that problem ( the way i make it work) id like to ask your personal opinion about topic - do you think is not true(its bullshit), sounds good but does not work, its to complex, hard to understand ,not helpful enough or maybe it lacks something?
  7. @Chrissy j lest assume that you need some money, and suddenly some random gay came to you and gave you let's say 200 bucks, for no reason, like gift. you did not deserve it, you did nothing to get it, no hard work, just basically nothing, it was complete accident. well you can imagine how happy you will become suddenly. now if you think same way about the life and everything that happens inside of it. noticing and being grateful for every second of life, getting sense of being alive. starting from simple breathing , able to listen, able to feel, able to do things. learn understand the value of life, and learn to be grateful for that.
  8. @SOUL you have to consider and accept limitations. i mean complete self control within your limitations as being.
  9. @Joseph Maynor you should take evolution into account. that kinda ritual will work only for small simple projects. and result will have little value. the more knowledge and awareness you seek the stronger the mental suffering you have to go through with. and further you go (through evolution of mind) old ideas, rituals, beliefs become of less value and importance, you start to seek freedom, something new that works better then previous ideas . and some people are not ready to trade that kind of suffering for knowlidge because they don't understand the value of it.
  10. @Visitor i want to point out importance of having reason. I want to get out of the house and ride my bike, but the weather is cold and windy. they way you are right now. sitting in the warm house feeling nice and well and feel comfy -- you are getting some level of enjoyment. the only possibility of you getting out of the warm, comfy house into windy and cold weather to ride the bike is , if you truly believe that the level of enjoyment by doing so will be higher. i believe that willpower is a concept where you give yourself a reason strong enough to do something you would not normally do because its pain in the ass otherwise. as i said earlier. thoughts evoke emotions, emotions evoke actions. to perform such 'unpleasant' action you need emotion, and emotion might not always happen by itself, but you can create your own consciously. if the outer world is the one who evokes emotional power in you, you are the machine that has no will. but if you learn to create energy(emotional power) by yourself you will achieve self-control. even to do self-development you need reason, if you did not believe that your quality of life will improve from 0 to 1 000 000 by doing so and you think it won't do any good for you, you would not do it. but you have belief that it actually works and you have your reasons, profs and your own experiences to support it. if there is no sufficient reason do to something you would not do it.
  11. @pluto simple life is simple life. it is nor better nor worse. at first life ,as we know it, was very simple, but through evolution it became very complex, for me- complexity gives life value and beauty, the way i define complex is combining/connection many simple things together, first we should become conscious of simple things to understand them way the work so we can connect and built something more complex so it can have value and beauty, the more complex its gets the higher value and beauty and thus more useful they become. what you suggest is indeed helpful for those who like simple life, but for freaks like me its not enough. need more awareness and knowledge to have more power(p.s i don't seek destruction or world domination) to decide what is correct and what is not. for example : i have seen people curing cancers with just having right lifestyle. i want to help myself and help people around me who needs it.
  12. at some point in life you notice that the way you do things are clearly wrong, because they don't work or instead of being helpful are very harmful. after that you start to question your own beliefs(which are not actually yours) at this point of my life somehow i got the ''mental health'' thing going and it affects ones physical condition positively but i think(cool guys think that too) its not enough. (because if physical health affects mental health negatively, you are f**ked) ------------------------------------------------------------------- physical health problems: +consumption: -what to eat or drink -when? (timing is important!!) -why? (your intention is also very important) -how? (the process of consumption) +working out: yoga/ breathing exercises/ lifting weights/ running/ cardio -same thing: what(which one),when, why, how to do it. +sleeping and resting: -same +fasting= cleansing and healing: (especially this, if you do it incorrectly you get to see what happens after death) ------------------------------------------------------------------- the first thing the most people say(especially doctors) to not to worry about it too much. well, the thing is i'm not worrying , i just want to know truth, i need more awareness so i can do things better(to get ''highest potential as human being'' thing going). [PROBLEM]: everybody knows how to google, but problem is there is too many information(videos, articles, books, websites, products) and they are all contradictory to each other(this means someones is f**king lair), and its quite hard to know which one is true. [SOLUTION](kind of) : sadhguru(the cool guy) said: you have to do everything consciously(''you don't say''), experiment, observe the result(how things you do make you feel), but its also hard to do on your own, p.d.ouspensky(another cool guy) said: development(evolution) is impossible without conscious will/effort and help(from experienced/wise guy). i got ''will and effort'' thing down, but i need help(everybody does). [HELP]:i need reliable source of information(such as : books, videos, articles, websites, products) which makes things work, not false beliefs (i had enough of that) which is cause of wrong work of human mind(the 'another cool guy' said that) and causes more wrong humans. <same thing could be said about mental health>
  13. does anybody know how to drink water correctly, before/during/after meal.
  14. what is / differences between: -consciousness -being conscious / being conscious of something -awareness -being aware / being aware of something -concentration (of mind?attention?awareness?consciousness?) -being concentrated on something -being in control of ones point of concentration in the present moment
