carlos flores replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
My biggest obstacles when it comes to enlightenment/spirituality is staying in the path when i'm living in a society and have a family that is very materialistic, big egos and always feeding you with shit. I try to avoid it so much, but how are you going to successfully do that when everyone around you is doing it all the time? My other problem personally is money. I been wanting to eat much healthier, fund trips to a retreat and many other things that could help me with enlightenment. The problem is that i'm in college and really can't afford none of those things at all, plus i'm up at night from time to time thinking if being in college is really worth it. All i'm doing right now is trying to learn as much as I can, but I feel like the stuff that could really help me get to enlightenment is very tough to afford and pursue. -

@Prabhaker it's much worse in many parts of China. There have been also killings of innocent people for their organs and the main targets have been meditators and spiritual people -

@jse oh goodness! Trump is the perfect example of someone stuck in the orange stage and never getting out of it! unfortunately some followers are like that too haha! -

@Leo Gura But if they were truly spiritual, shouldn't they have been able to see through their bullshit right away? instead I feel like they embraced it. It could be because those countries were in need during those times and had to accept it, but they should have turn around after a while and gotten back to spirituality which is something they didn't do. -
I have recently watched videos that talk about the idea of "what you put into your mind is what you become." In a nutshell, the type of people you hang out, the type of movie you watch or the type of music you listen is what you become. But how true is this?? the reason I ask this is because i'm a huge heavy metal fan and a lot of the type of music I listen might have lyrics that about the devil or other explicit things. let me give you an example of one of the songs I just recently listened so you get an idea of what i'm talking about. this are the lyrics : Fight, we will fight right, Living low in a world of our own, Destined to live right, fight, We're taking hell as our home, Burning lives burning, Asking me for the mercy of god, Ancient cries crying, Acting fast upon the way of the dog, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell. Kill we will kill death, Masturbating on the deeds we have done, Hell commands death kill, Argue not of feel the death of sun, Burning lives burning, Asking me for the mercy of god, Ancient cries crying, Acting fast upon the way of the dog, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell. Leave your souls at his feet, Kiss the flames, Scorn defeat. Die we won't die live, Our choice of difference is what you'll never know, Mortal voids live die, Buried deep beneath the fall of the snow, Burning lives burning, Asking me for the mercy of god, Ancient cries crying, Acting fast upon the way of the dog, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell, Welcome to hell. Is hearing this kind of this really putting negativity into your life like some claim or affecting your happiness? does it somehow affect your consciousness or affect your growth? I'm really curious to hear what you guys have to say?

Do you exercise? I exercise a lot and I found that I get better sleep because of it. Even on days that I go to bed late because of work or homework, I feel like I get enough sleep and part of that reason I believe is because of all my exercising. One thing I do to get better sleep is put some really relaxing music. I play moonlight sonata almost every single night before going to sleep or I play raining sounds videos to help me relax (I love it when it rains because it relaxes me and makes me sleep much better, if it's not raining then I put some of those rain sound videos). Also, I heard that it's much better if you stay away from TV and Phones at least 45 minutes before going to be, otherwise your brain will keep thinking it's daylight from the light coming from devices. Here are two of the videos I use at night to sleep, I hope it works for you.

So I was talking to my boss the other day and he told me that one of the coworkers that he works from time to time (and I myself have to work with him once) just had a panic attack in the middle of his shift at some other job. We both work for a sound company that sets up the stage sound for bands playing in restaurants/clubs, but that only happens on weekends, so we of course have other jobs beside this one. Like I said early, he got a panic attack on his other job and had to leave early. He's homeschool because of his panic attacks and his father just got tired of all of it and send him to Colorado to live with his mom for a couple of months. I really feel bad for him because he's a good guy and it sucks that this keeps happening to him. I have never had a panic attack in my life (thankfully lol) so I have no clue what can be done to help a person who suffers from it. I wanted to know if any of you could give me any advice that could help him to get rid of them or how to deal with them so that it won't keep messing up his life.

@Alex K Have you tried finding other people to exercise with?? I found that it's one of the best ways to stay motivated and not go off the rails so easily. same thing with eating healthy, finding someone in your house who can keep you accountable is good. This is something I did, instead of buying junk food, I would buy healthy food that's very delicious to me like watermelon, grapes, mangos and some other stuff. after a while you will not miss the junk food or at least you will end up reducing the amount you eat.

I agree with Leo. I have never done a retreat myself, but to do a 40 day retreat all the suddenly would be extremely challenging. That would be like a person saying he is going to do a full iron man triathlon race with no training at all. -
I watched this and I was quite amazed at how powerful meditation can be. apparently I think he is using Vajrayana techniques, which are kept secret from the rest of the world by tibetan monks. supposedly because they can be dangerous if not used properly or can be so easily misunderstood. here is the video:

@Progress I love rainbow. They're quite unique musically and lyrically. even if they're not metal, it can be denied that they were a huge influence on heavy metal bands. I love how Dio once said "this earth is your heaven and your hell and it becomes what you choose it to be." Feel like this can go with self-actualization, a lot of times we feel miserable because we create that hell ourselves. -

@SLICKHAWK I have been meditating for a while now, but I have done so much awareness work before meditating too. Being more aware of everything I do. -

@Leo Gura haha well that depends of what you would define as "art". for some a certain thing is art while to others is not. I think my dog is art! -

@Oneness I don't really ever relate to the lyrics at all. Most people who know me would never believe in a 100 years that I actually listen to many of these heavy metal bands, the reason why it's because they probably are expecting me to be some angry, violent or dumb dude but i'm actually quite the opposite. I graduated in the top 14% of my class in high school and I was like by many for my calmness lol. -

@art It's interesting to hear that it helped you, I have heard many say it helped them find their life purpose. I wonder however, if that passion (in this case playing heavy metal) has some downsides too. -

@Martin123 no related at all, but we are one with the universe -

@Bronsoval thanks for sharing that too. I like to hear what others have to say too. I found it a bit shocking that it says that the song "1979" by Smashing pumpkins has the analeptic beat, I love that song....1 -

@Leo Gura that's quite interesting! I find it funny that it says it weakens your muscles, I know a lot of people who say they are able to work out better because they listen heavy metal. Maybe they should be listening to classical instead? lol. -

@Ape That was quite interesting! But does that mean that the shape water formed is bad?? I wish he gave more detail -
carlos flores replied to carlos flores's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Bronsoval I actually did realize that I became more open to some of these topics more when I started listening to metal more. It made me feel a bit more comfortable. -
@Elzhi I'm sure you probably heard about this, but there is a new wave called justice democrats which is fighting to get establishment candidates out of office. You could be the next senator for your state or representative! good luck my friend!

@Azrael thanks again Azrael!

@Azrael Thanks for the reply Azrael, if you don't mind I have another question (lol). When you took 5-meo-dmt did you scream or start shaking your body? I have seen a couple of videos of people being given 5-meo-dmt and reacting this way, but others seem calm like if they had just been given weed. Is there anything I could do to be as calm as possible when I first try 5-meo-dmt? last thing I want is to start screaming and shaking my body.
