  4. This is a great idea! I live in Seattle and I'm fully okay to pay $20 or more for a ticket. I'm sure there are many people from Seattle who would join the meeting. I look forward to it!
  5. I don't give any advice here. It suffices to say that clear communication is a fundamental skill to have. It requires clarity of mind. Leo has a video about communication skills. You can check his video.
  6. I suggest to take a look at this book: The Big Leap. The summary of the book is as follows: When you life is going good and you have a good progress, you mind manipulate you to get back to your old habits. In other words, you capacity to live a good life is limited.
  7. In today's video, entitled Self-Deception - Part 3, Leo discusses different types of self deception. One of these self deception mechanisms is Analysis Bias & holism. This first few minutes of this video vividly shows how analysis bias is quite common among scientists.
  8. Very glad you are posting videos on your blog. I am just curious about the number 666 on the wall. I knew you are the devil @Leo Gura
  9. @ajasatya Thanks for the note. You can find all lectures here. If you are interested in lecture notes, you can refer to the course link I shared. Hope it helps
  10. Guys, If you are interested in today's Leo video and want to study this topic more rigorously. You can check this course. It is all about Gödel, Escher, Bach book. It includes topics like isomorphism, recursion, infinity, self, formal systems, etc.
  11. Guys, This is a great video about Cantor and his take on Absolute Infinity. It would be a great addition to Leo's video. I never thought Leo would go into Absolute Infinity from the mathematics point of view. I'm so happy he did and clarified many points. Hope you enjoy it!
  12. In regard to the recent video by Leo, I came across this video. You may also enjoy it.
  13. I don't think you can remove all of them from your life simultaneously if you are addicted to them. However, you can make a plan to become more conscious about how you use these tools. When you watch TV ask why you are watching TV? When you are checking Facebook, ask yourself what value Facebook has for you? There is nothing wrong with technology or the internet, per say. The problem is when we become attached to these things and they become a source of stimulation rather than a tool. We all need to be careful about what sort of information we take in a daily basis from TV, Media, etc. It does not hurt if you unhook yourself from them temporarily if you can. My 2 cents.
  14. Hi guys, I hear that Leo always advises that suppression of an emotion is destructive and bad. On the other hand, he always encourages us to go through emotional labor. Can someone clarify for me the difference between these two terms? For instance, if I want to get rid of a bad habit, I am required to accept emotional labor. But, how can I know that I am not suppressing my feeling? Thank you!
  15. I come across "NEUROSIS AND HUMAN GROWTH- The Struggle Toward Self-Realization" by Karen Horney. I read half of the book and it was very eye-opening for me so far. This is not a classic self-help book, and the language of the book is academic, unfortunately. However, she uses great examples throughout the book. In this book, the author speaks about the process of self-idealization (neurotic growth) in contrast to self-realization (healthy growth). She then speaks about a variety of neurotic claims. In chapter 3, she speaks about our should statements. And, how our should statements are actually a tool for self-idealization. She also speaks about neurotic pride, and many other neurotic behaviors.
  16. I watched Leo's video about morality almost 8 times. It had a significant impact on how I look at world! I hear you
  17. @future Oh man this was awesome! Thanks for sharing it with us!
  18. Leo also suggested this book as the first book to read from Wilber! I have to check it out.
  19. @aurum So, You have to work on personal development before, during, and after enlightenment in Ralston, Adyashanti and Ken Wilber's opinion. Am I right? By the way, which of Ken Wilber's books do you recommend to read? I want to know more about the connection between PD and and enlightenment.
  20. @Azrael This was epic! I cannot even compare the person who I am now with a person who I was last year. I do not want to be sentimental here, but I have all of it from Leo, and I appreciate him for whatever he has brought into my life so far. I REALLY hope he continues this journey and continues to share his insights with us!
  21. @Ariel The stress of Nofap is on porn addiction. There are unfortunately many misinterpretations about Nofap. If you read this page https://www.nofap.com/rebooting/, it gives you a big picture of their mission. They have three modes: Hard mode in which they suggest you to abstain from porn, masturbation, and sex altogether. PM mode that includes just porn and masturbation. P mode that includes just porn. There is a big difference between ejaculation via sex and masturbation. This is my take away from Nofap, if the brain is desynthesized because of porn or excessive masturbation, then it's very logical if the person abstains from porn and masturbation for a while. Also, it has been shown that porn does have very negative impact on brain. Thus, I think it is healthy if a person does abstain from porn forever. Of course, there is no need to suppress or moralize about it. The point is that if we become more conscious, we realize it is just waste of time.
  22. This is what I usually do: I start with a detox: Turmeric, wheat grass, and lemon in warm water. After 30 minutes. I drink a cup of green tea. I also make a smoothie. The ingredients of my smoothie are berries, specially black berries and blueberries for being a potent antioxidant, 1/2 or 1 banana for potassium and digestion, 1/2 avocado for healthy fat, and one spoon of chia seeds. Keep your breakfast light but rich. I consider to buy the following vegetables from grocery store depending on the season, roughly in order: · Kale · Spinach · Broccoli · Garlic · Onion · Artichoke · Asparagus · Sweet potato · Tomato · Bell Pepper · Beets (including beet greens) · Peas · Onion · Carrots · Celery . Lemon I consider to buy the following fruits from grocery store depending on the season, roughly in order: · Blackberry · Raspberry · Avocado · Cranberries · Kiwi · Tomato · Cantaloupe · Honeydew · Blueberries · Grapefruits · Watermelon · Banana · Coconut Obviously, you need to know what fruits/vegetables to buy organic.
  23. I do not think anyone here is advocating that we should not fulfill our needs. I am personally a big fan of fulfilling needs . We should not suppress anything in our life. If you look at Maslow hierarchy of needs, it says you need to handle the basics things first. Having said that, It is still possible to not fulfill needs and reach to a peace in a way that you would not regret in your deathbed, but it is really hard to accomplish in my opinion. I personally prefer to fulfill my needs. However, what matter here is the mind set. If we get stuck in the mindset that we always have some needs and we always have to fulfill them, we never get rid of needs and we will never be satisfied. We somehow should realize at some point in our life that fulfilling our needs does not give us the ultimate peace. At that point, we realize that we have whatever we need. I'm personally far from this point. Thus, you can safely assume that I am just preaching here . Think about mindset. Have we ever been fully satisfied in our life? We have always been chasing something, this is a never ending journey. We will be regretful in our deathbed with no doubt if we stuck in this mindset.
  24. Yes. It is possible for those who fully grasped the meaning of "Die before you die" and applied it during their life. PS. This quote is attributed to several people. I'm not sure about the origin.
  25. Hey guys, I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! In today's video ("The Mechanics Of Belief"), Leo discussed how our beliefs stop us from growing. There are three major steps: 1) Defending our belief system blindly, 2) Being open to modify and change our web of beliefs, 3) Dropping our belief system. The alternative for our belief system that he proposes is direct experience. I'm on board with him that beliefs, per say, cannot help us. However, I would love to know your opinions why direct experience would be the best alternative to our belief systems? How do we know that our direct experience leads us to truth? Do we realize that our direct experience is the best alternative by experiencing our direct experience? Can we ask the epistemological question with respect to our direct experience? Thank you!
