  1. I am fine. When you started a topic about your missing thread and posts, I checked Leo's profile to find out that he was here or not ! Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased money changers out of the Temple. Similarly, Leo took a break from his meditation and deleted some satanic content from this forum. Buddha certainly says: Know how to sit silently. That does not mean that he says: Go on sitting silently forever. He is not saying you have to become inactive.

  4. Parents are cruel to their children because parents have some investment in them. Parents have some ambitions they would like to fulfill through their children -- that's why they are cruel. Parents are cruel because they have ideas: they want their children to be this and that. They would like their children to be rich, famous, respected; they would like their children to fulfill their unfulfilled egos. Their children are going to be their journeys. May be she is thinking like this from her experience. Indian Gurus are sometimes very notorious. 5. Yoga Visa (officially called as “Student Visa”) India will give tourist visa and e-tourist visa to foreigners willing to undergo short term course on Yoga in its bid to popularize the ancient spiritual and ascetic practice globally. The government has decided to include attending a short term yoga programme in the list of permissible activities under tourist visa. Study yoga from any yoga institution by visiting India on a “Tourist Visa” or a “Student Visa (Yoga Visa)”. However “Toursit visas” normally have a duration of only 6 months (180 days) and “Student Visas” had formalities like going to the Foreigner’s Registration Office (FRO) at the police headqurters and getting other formalities sorted. Applying for a “Yoga Visa” will require the student to provide a letter from a Yoga Institute recoginsed by the Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. Of India where they will study. It is important to know that in India, the authorities and Yoga schools use the term “Yoga Visa” but this is not a term used by any visa service center or embassy where the visa will be obtained – they only recognize “Student Visa”. The “Student Visa” will last the duration of the Yoga program which can be up to 5 years and can be extended.
  6. Watch your thoughts, you simply watch, enjoy. Don't say anything to the thoughts. Don't judge. Don't condemn. Don't tell them to move. Start relaxing. Start from the circumference – that's where we are, and we can start only from where we are. Relax the circumference of your being – relax your body, relax your behavior, relax your acts. Walk in a relaxed way, eat in a relaxed way, talk, listen in a relaxed way. Slow down every process. Don't be in a hurry and don't be in haste. Move as if all eternity is available to you. Learn catharsis. You only imagined. When you have some theoretical knowledge, you begin to impose it on yourself. You begin to visualize things.

  8. No, but mastering the pose (asana) sometimes may take years, there is no harm in doing nadi shodhana pranayama even if you are a beginner.
  9. Anybody can do nadi shodhana pranayama if his health is normal and stomach is empty (4 hours after meals). Do it in a very relaxed way.
  10. Do Dynamic Meditation for 90 days and you will know yourself that any Shadow work is needed or not.
  11. Indians have become really materialistic, far more materialistic than any country in the world. And great hypocrisy exists, because they go on claiming to be religious.
  12. The Buddha said, "Those who have passions are never able to perceive the Way; for it is like stirring up clear water with hands; people may come there wishing to find a reflection of their faces, which, however, they will never see. A mind troubled and vexed with the passions is impure, and on that account it never sees the Way. O monks, do away with passions. When the dirt of passion is removed the Way will manifest itself." Passion is a sort of fever, a sort of trembling of your being, a sort of inner wavering. Passions means you are not content as you are. You can drop the worldly passions - many people do. They become sadhus, monks, they move to the monasteries, but they don't drop the passion as such. Their achiever's mind still continues, only their language has changed.
  13. Socrates said, "All I know is that I know nothing".
  14. Meditation is not focusing. When you focus on one thing you become unconscious towards all other things. Open all your senses: listen to the softest sounds like birds singing; smell the fragrance of plants and trees; feel the air, the breeze or the wind on your body and notice the sensations of the feet when hitting the ground, you should be open to everything. Be aware when you lift your foot and when you move it forward, and when you place it down to move along. When you are walking, don’t walk at the old pace, with old speed; slow down, so much so that you have to be alert, otherwise you will gather your speed again. Walk in a relaxed way, move as if all eternity is available to you.
  15. Man of knowledge knows nothing but he thinks he knows. Without knowing, to believe that one knows is to remain forever rooted in ignorance. Knowledge is the enemy although it appears as the friend. You may be able to convince even others that you know, you may be able to strengthen your ego, you may become very famous, you may be known as a great scholar, but deep down there is nothing but darkness. The ignorant is in a far better situation. At least he has no pretensions, at least he is not deceiving others and himself.
  16. Train Travel in India - A Short Guide
  17. As you go deeper into meditation your breathing becomes slower and slower. If you go and observe animals, those animals whose breathing is very slow live long. These so-called yogis who go on breathing less and less, and slower, only slow down the process of life. They are less alive, that's all. They live almost like a tree. People like Devraha Baba are living on half their normal food. They eat only once, and that too in a very miserly way, yet they can live double. Because when you don't get enough food your life flame burns low; instead of gaining intensity it starts gaining length. Food is fuel: if you eat less you will be thin, if you eat less you will have less sexual desire, if you eat less you will have less possibility of being angry, if you eat less you will live at a very minimum level of life. You can live long, but this is not life. In colder countries people live longer than in the hotter countries. And that was one of the reasons why the escapist monks found it a great attraction to go to the Himalayan caves; it is a natural way of living a frozen life.

  20. in second stage, it is not systematic deep breathing, it is chaotic breathing. If the pattern of breathing is changed very suddenly and briskly, then your whole inner state undergoes a complete change. It is in such a situation that a feeling of utter strangeness overwhelms you, and you separate yourself from the body. Not that you do it, the separation happens on its own. The creation of such moments of strangeness is very important for awareness. Breathing in any methodological manner will again turn into a system. But it will lose all strangeness about it.
  21. The first and golden rule is never drink the tap water or eat any items which may have been washed in it. This sounds very obvious by drinking only bottled water but consider fruit and vegetables which may have been washed. Do not add ice to drinks, it may be very tempting but the quality of the ice cannot always be guaranteed even in clean and respectable establishment which may out source ice production. Always eat food which is piping hot an item that is only warm may have been just reheated and been cooked days ago. Rice is notoriously bad for cultivating bacterial which can cause food related illness. When deciding on a place to eat at use the second golden rule eat where the locals eat. A resident of the city knows which places are good and quality assured, if a place is busy then it must be acceptable by the locals (or other travelers). Be wary of places where you are the only customers. If a establishment is busy it will generally indicate that the food is fresh and has not been standing for days.
  22. Official Website of Rajasthan Tourism http://tourism.rajasthan.gov.in/ Pray to God, only prayers can save you! In Rajasthan, if you are a tourist, watch out for “lapkas”, unscrupulous shopkeepers and greedy autorickshaw drivers. For many years now, “lapkas”, or self-styled tourist guides, have been a blot on Rajasthan. They are touts who are paid commission by shopkeepers and hotel owners for bringing customers. But while “lapkas” find ways to exploit tourists, the licensed guides are unable to find work through the season. There are 2,500 licensed guides in Jaipur, 550 of them holding “red cards” issued by the Union government. At any given time, even in the peak season, at least 50 per cent of them are without work. http://tourism.rajasthan.gov.in/state-and-local-level-guides-approved.html The elaborate code of conduct is meant for tourists as well as hoteliers, shopkeepers and tour operators. The code, posted on the Tourism Department website and freely available at the counters of hotels and tourist reception centres. http://tourism.gov.in/sites/default/files/060320111104524_0.pdf Tourist Booth at City Palace, Jaipur You can take help of Tourist Assistance Force: To know about the locality of tourist sites and respective distance. In case of harassment by peddlers, hawkers, touts, beggars etc. To take guidance about local law and order, security and hazards and for that free pamphlets of “Dos and Don'ts” are provided to tourists by TAF personnel. To take information about authorized taxi stands, ATMs’, money exchanges, guest houses, hotels restaurants etc. To take guidance about medical facilities available nearby. Recently on-call ambulance (Phone no.108) facility has been provided by govt. and TAF personnel guides the tourist in emergency.
  23. This state of imbalance can remain permanent if meditation is one of the several activities you do during a day. Meditation is not an activity, it is way of life. You might be doing something anti-meditative also, you lose your balance again and again.
  24. Buddha says there is no atman. Buddha's expression more approximates the reality, but he is difficult to be understood. A wave arises; then the wave disappears. Where has it gone? It has gone to the same source from where it had arisen in the first place. It had risen out of the ocean; now it has gone back to the ocean. Wave is a continuity. When you throw a stone in the center of a pond and wave travels from center to shore, but the water doesn't travels from center to the shore, it is continuously replaced in the wave. In the night when you lit the candle, that flame is no more there, that flame is continuously disappearing; it is being replaced by another flame. The replacement is so quick that you can't see the gaps.one flame going out, another coming up, that going out, another coming up. Buddha says that just as the candle flame is not the same , it is changing constantly, although in another sense it is the same because it is the same continuum , exactly like that, there is no soul entity in you like a thing but one like a flame.
