I heard Sadhguru once talking about how he is able to initiate a few tasks to his mind, and they will run by themselves. Well, this is exactly how achieving emotional mastery will work. I did The Work of Byron Katie for two years, and last month, God told me to stop doing The Work. Because a process had started in my mind which is dissolving the ego on its own. This is the final step of achieving emotional mastery. Byron Katie talks about this final stride and she calls it ‘The Work waking up inside of you.’ It’s basically when you can stop all spiritual work, because the mind is dissolving the ego on its own, and it will not stop for anything. The ego is still there, but it’s being dissolved automatically by the mind.

If the self is an illusion, then who is doing the self inquiry to realise that the self is an illusion? If you deny the self, then exactly what will experience the truth that the self isn’t real? Both of these objections comes from somebody who was criticising the idea that the self is an illusion, which is extremely popular in spirituality.

I agree with you, but just an interesting fact, I’ve heard Sadhguru supporting the death penalty of criminals.

My problem with all this politics talk is that it is extremely unpractical. Most of us here will never be able to influence the government. Sure we can vote, but what difference will just one vote make. I would be interested in politics if I could make some difference to the government. But that’s highly unlikely. Just getting inside the ‘political battlefield’ is already hard enough. Can you please talk about the relevancy of politics to us ordinary citizens. We might be able to influence a large number of people, but it probably won’t be in the government sector.

An Indian Christian? Quite rare I would say. Notice that your religion was brought to you by your former occupiers the British. Don’t identify with it too much.

But to ask ‘why’ is assuming that reality could’ve been some other way, which is just a fantasy. For me, the reason ‘why reality is precisely the way it is,’ is because any alternatives to this reality is just your fantasy.

The problem with asking ‘why is reality precisely the way it is’ is that this question is coming from the mind. There’s nothing wrong with the mind, but the mind is less than reality. More precisely, the mind is a subset of reality. Because you can be in a no-mind state where the mind disappears and reality remains. And pure reality (without the mind) cannot ask ‘why’. It just is. There are no questions. And this is the ultimate truth.

It’s interesting that the brain actually affects the body quite radically. Byron Katie said that shortly after her experience, there was a period of 27 days where she never ate or drank anything. She said it was because of her ‘radical state of mind.’

No, Leo’s parents were also atheist. He’s never been religious.

They can be reached. It’s just quite rare. Most people will need psychedelics, but a few can do it naturally.

God also told me to stop that. But I had an interesting experience a few days ago. I decided to do a serious meditation routine. I meditated for 5 hours each day for two days. On the second day, whilst I was at 5 and a half hours, I was contacted by God and was told to stop this nonesense. I won’t get into the details because it’s hard to talk about, but in a nutshell, the meditation sessions killed itself. I stopped after that experience.

I haven’t looked into it that much. I know that it is a Hadith qudsi. Perhaps you can do a bit of research on it.

@Conrad Also another Hadith: “I am Ahmad without the meem.” Of course if you remove the meem you will get Ahad or ‘The One.’ He was probably dropping hints here and there.

@Conrad It’s pretty interesting that there is a Hadith from Abu huraira which says, “I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allah's Apostle . I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my pharynx (throat) would be cut (i.e. killed).” Bukhari. This could imply that Abu huraira was receiving mystical teachings from Muhammad, but because the ideas was so radical, the companions wouldn’t tolerate it, and they would kill Muhammad for it, so Muhammad secretly teached a few people about it.

When Peter Ralston talks about the distinction between relative and absolute, he’s not really talking about it for himself. He’s making the distinction so that communication to unenlightened people can be easier. It’s unenlightened people who need that distinction. For enlightened people, Absolute is all that exists.
