The quality of tap water varies a lot depending on where you live. In Germany it's great. In other countries there's chorine in it. In some places it's polluted. I buy water only in glas bottles. St. Pellegrino is one I would never drink because it contains Uranium. Other than that it`s a question of taste.

Does "hard work" mean that it's not fun? Could an activity be fun and productive at the same time? Saying you are messed up or something similar is a good reason to tell yourself why you have no chance. Are there areas where you are productive and have no problem finishing? If the idea of your life at 40 years old if you don't change scares you, then this could be a great motivator. You could write the number 40 on some pieces of paper or Post-It notes and pin it in your home where you regularly see them. A way I made progress was taking a little notebook and writing down things that I had procrastinated on because I had thought they would be hard to do but found out they were not so hard when I actually did them. Pretty quickly you doubt your judgement and start to be curious if this or that are really that difficult and start just trying it.

Be prepared though that if you feel that tv entertainment is the only fun you have in life, finding out that is not fun at all will give you the feeling that you have nothing at all. You would have to fill that hole.

What do you expect from watching tv? Do you expect to be entertained and relaxed, to be in a good mood? I would suppose that would be about what anyone would usually expect, right? How about while you are watching tv you regularly take notes how you feel? Do you actually feel relaxed, in a good mood? I personally found out that I am mostly bored. I was once told of a prank played on someone who smoked. Someone put hairs in the person's cigarettes... It's kind of similar: Finding out that you actually don't enjoy something like watching mediocre tv spoils it. Which in this case could be helpful.

I would propose you try various activities that you think are productive and take notes how you feel while your doing them and afterwards having done something. Writing it down requires you to put your awareness on your feeling. I'd say you need to ignite some spark in you for something. I have more questions for you to ask yourself: How will your life look like when you're 40 years old and you have not changed your course? How could you make your days fun? What would make a day great for you? Are you by any chance worried that you will not be able to succeed what you (think) you want to do? Do you expect that all effort will be for nothing because you know yourself for starting things but then losing interest or give up because of a problem that comes up? Would you say that when you try something and it gets challenging, that this is extremely frustrating for you and almost a guarantee that you will give up?

There is a lot of authors and coaches who cover overlapping topics. Different perspectives, depth, complexity, precision, condension of concepts per time, etc. appeal to people of different levels of thinking, consciousness, intellect, ambition, willingness or unwillingness to challenge previously developed beliefs... So there is a place for more than one approach.

Book recommendation: The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem: The Definitive Work on Self-Esteem by the Leading Pioneer in the Field by Nathaniel Branden I am certain you can find summaries and reviews on youtube and via google on the web, so you get an idea if the book is something you want to read.
