  1. Yes ASD is a possibility, it is extremely common at this time of the year. Awesome advice already shared above ^ I'd add Step 1: call your doctor and get your vit D tested (you can share your results in here and maybe we can help you) Step 2: make sure to get early day exposure to sunlight to setup the pace of your circadian rhythm. ASD is basically caused by excessive amount of melatonin being produced over serotonin (they are made from the same material). The more daylight exposure you get the less early day melatonin you get and the more vigilant and optimistic you'll remain.
  2. Define "natural". Most nootropics are hyper-concentrated plant extracts in a lab created through a complex chemical process, they have no resemblance to the original plant. You could say that the only difference between 99% of nootropics on the market and medical drugs is that the latter requires a rigorous approval process through several clinical trials and FDA approval where nootropics are completely unregulated and mostly based on mechanistic speculation or some rat studies (or limited amount of human data). There no standards on quality, no testing standards, no excipient regulation, no dosage regulations. You can put chalk in your Lion's Mane supplement and nobody would find out. The only determinant with nootropics is that they must cause no harm. Compare this to the determinant for medical drugs which have to be clinically proven to work and to reduce the occurrence of a disease in a study population. Imagine handing people with fucked up arteries Chaga extract and just kinda hoping they'll make it through and not die within next 3 months. We simply can't afford to do that, despite all the devilry pharmacology is saving lives of people who are a at the level of consciousness where they can't or don't want to or don't know about more holistic solutions. To someone with double bypass statins, blood thinners and calcium channel blockers will add 15 years of lifespan, now for a someone who would rather die than to start exercising that's as close as you can get to miracle. Nootropics are definitely a step forward from traditional pharmacology thou but they are not natural that's for sure. Hopefully with time, more funding and more human data pharmaceutical industry will show more interest in these products but for now, nootropics are mostly not reliable. We need the money, the expertise and the technology of the big pharma to understand what dosage works and how to extract them to make them more powerful, the small amount of academic research would take hundred years to find out on its own. The only ones that are powerful are the ones regulated by the pharma industry such as Modafinil. It's not a coincidence that it is powerful as hell Not defending the pharmaceutical industry, they are greedy fucking devils but when it comes to standardisation, research and quality testing you cant get better than that.
  3. Hey @Happy Lizard , How long has it been going on? Have you had any medical assessments? Any blood tests? MRI or scans of the rib cage? Any leads to what could have beem a contributing factors?
  4. Search history for carnivore, lots of discussions have been made on the topic
  5. SJW can actually be pretty effective for MD as long as it is targeting the right cause. Glad they put you on that rather than fluoxetine or something like that. Looks like an open-minded psychiatrist Good luck !
  6. ^ this Always important to make sure one is not applying nootropics in a sort of green-pharmacology mindset.
  7. It gets better around week 2 you just gotta keep your willpower strong. There is no other way to quit. Kudos for trying, it will get better.
  8. @Preety_India my pleasure It's a lot of info so implement slowly. Maybe one new food per week to adapt and adjust.
  9. I think I would start with investigating what are the foods that are irritating. If you suspect you are allergic or intolerant to some foods there are always tests that can be done by a doctor. Nothing that is painful and regular should be ignored. Moving on the gut-beneficial foods. I think what you want to focus on are: Foods that provide food to your microbiota (billions of microbes in your intestines) - these are called prebiotics (with e) Foods that improve bacterial count and colony size - these are called probiotics (with o) Foods that do not kill your microbiota needlessly Foods that support production of short-chain fatty acids by supplying Microbiota Accessible Carbohydrates Foods that support the integrity of the gut epithelium Foods that do not create toxic byproducts in the gut Foods that support the speed of transit, increase the bulk of the stool and reduce the risk of complex diseases such as colorectal cancer. So the best food are those that @BlackMaze already mentioned. Fruits, vegetables and legumes + I'd add whole grains. The reason being they are prebiotics. They feed your microbiota and as long as your army of microbes is happy, your gut is happy and you will be happy. All fruits, all vegetables, lentils, beans, chickpeas as well as wholegrian products that are not processed such as barley, buckwheat, quinoa, oat, millet, wild rice, brown rice, teff and so on. Basically, the definition of having a healthy gut is to have a healthy diversity of your microbiota with as many beneficial colonies as possible. Another beneficial category are probiotic foods. These contain bacteria that grew during the process of fermentation. They are helpful because they help your gut produce more protective mucous and they support the integrity of intestinal walls protecting you from health problems. Some of the examples are: kefir (not for vegans), miso, natto, tofu, tempeh, sauerkraut, pickles, pickled olives (ideally without salt), any probiotic yoghurts (not for vegan), any fermented fruits or vegetables available in your country (without chemical additives) Other than that specific foods with strong prebiotic content are: apples (pectin), mushrooms (mannan), onions (inulin), soy beans (isoflavones), wheat germ (arabinoxylan), sea weeds (porphyran). Other good examples are leek, garlic, carrots, garden peas, barley and rye. In terms of what's bad for your gut: processed meats and beef (eaten more than once a week) anything too salty processed foods loaded with sugar and chemistry fizzy drinks loaded with sugar cakes, pastries and refined grains alcohol, tobacco, chronic stress any unnecessary antibiotics and most of the over the counter drugs any foods that are past their "good to be eaten" time especially animal foods. Hopefully that's helpful
  10. I'm not exactly clear on the mechanism but I recall it may have something to do with the Glucose Transporter 4 (GLUT4) a door-key if you like, that opens the cellular "gates" for glucose entry. In Insulin Resistance this molecule often does not work properly (IR is more complex than that) and so the cellular "doors" for glucose remain shut despite docking of insulin. And I believe what happens is that skeletal muscle stimulation (exercise) kinda uses a secondary mechanism of some sort that forces GLUT 4 to move and open up the glucose entry gate and allows more glucose in. In healthy individual this may mean that even more glucose can be absorbed in cells and faster. There is also the fact that exercise seems to improve insulin sensitivity peripherally, "In healthy man a single bout of exercise has been shown to increase insulin stimulated whole body glucose uptake, as measured by glucose clamp, for at least 16 hours post-exercise [11,89]. In addition, acute exercise has been shown to decrease the insulin response to an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) [129], suggesting that peripheral insulin sensitivity is increased" https://www.researchgate.net/publication/12632588_Exercise_and_Insulin_Sensitivity_A_Review - this is an interesting review if you wanna geek-out on some of those details. This is from 2000 so much more detail might be known if you looked at more recent papers but they describe the potential mechanism nicely including a nice graphics.
  11. Hey man, hope you don't mind me jumping in, delete if not appropriate. I was reading the previous post. Sorry to hear about you and your gf separation but it does not have to be the end of you guys if you don't want it to. My gf and i lived a whole year apart in 2014 and in a way it strengthened what we had. Is she coming back after a year? Could you at least visit a few times? For us the way it eventually worked was that I moved in to that country (after 13 months apart) as well and over long term i see that as one of the best decisions of my life and we've lived here away from our home country for 6 years now. Even though back then it seemed like a bad decision, too scary and too many unknowns (but it can be done). Anyways if you ever wanted to chat to someone I may be able to offer a few tips on how to potentially survive that as a couple. If not just ignore Wishing you lot of strength bro! Your passion and purpose will be what will keep you going. Stick to it to the best of your abilities. Take care!
  12. I don't think that's correct (not that it matters really but since we're having this discussion) hGH it is one of the primary drivers of muscle protein synthesis through secondary messengers via hGH -PI3K-mTOR pathway so in a way hGH is anabolic to the muscle tissue provided there is sufficient mechanical stimulation because there are hGH receptors in liver but also on muscle, bone and fat tissue. https://www.kegg.jp/kegg-bin/highlight_pathway?scale=1.0&map=map04935&keyword=growth hormone TLDNR - bla bla nerdy stuff , bla bla bla , you need (biological) growth hormone to stimulate muscle growth.
  13. Good stuf! Take 100% control of your breath and anything becomes possible.
  14. The role of dopamine isn't only to give you motivation to drink, jerk off and procrastinate on the internet. It has an important physiological role in motion, movement and physiology overal. Parkinson's disease is basically lack of dopamine. So do yourself a favour and do not play with a fire unless you have seen long term safety data of such drug. As @flowboy said, this does not cure the underlying problem.
  15. I think when on antibiotics, you shouldn't be using anything (maybe except probiotics if your doctor agrees). Finish the AB treatment then experiment with the stash.
  16. self-experimentation. Nootropics are a new thing and there is little research on most of them so we don't know what happens when you mix stuff up. Try and see what happens. Now this is something you need to be very careful with. A lot of natural products are contraindicated with pharmaceuticals. I think the most contraindications is with blood thinners, antidepressants, blood sugar and blood pressure meds. Antipsychotics, benzos and other mental health meds are also a concern. Rule of thumb: if unsure, don't use it. or go to drugs.com -> interaction checker and put all those things together. Although you are unlikely to find nootropics in their database but they do have many herbs and supplements. Another risk is that you will overload your liver because all that stuff goes through hepatic first pass and needs to be detoxified before those substances are redistributed. For example, even using something like high-dose curcumin extract while drinking a lot of herbal teas, taking some matcha and on the top of that 5 pharmaceuticals can already interact with medication to a degree that they (drugs) may start building up in the system. Some drugs such as digoxin can become incredibly toxic when this happens. Now what happens when you add 10 nootropics in the mix, nobody knows. Start with single products, small doses and build it up. Observe things like headaches, brain fog and digestive problems, if they appear you are going too fast.
  17. @Shin could be many other things even an obvious thing such as undiagnosed depression that he is masking this way. Bipolar wouldn't be out of question either
  18. Ah fair enough, thanks for the correction doc I mean...they have beneficial effects for sure. We have data on that, I just don't think they are worth the risk of excessive tissue growth stimulation (beyond just muscle) and there is some evidence whey can contribute to kidney and liver damage. I'd rather stick to plan proteins even if it means getting slower gains.
  19. I think it might have come down the the fact that tunica media, the inside of artery wall is basically a muscular layer which allows for contraction and relaxation of the vessel to adapt to blood pressure requirements. The problem is that it is highly sensitive to growth hormone and basically growth factor signalling that these guys are shooting up their veins. And so while your muscles are getting big as fuck, your tunica media is hardening and growing as well gradually obstructing the blood flow. He will not be the first to have that happen to him. It is scary that these guy are literally role models for millions of young guys across the world eating trash and taking crappy whey powders 5 times a day. And yes of course a diet based on 300grams of protein, simple carbs and junk won't help either.
  20. This guy is clearly mentally ill and needs professional psychiatric support. Nobody in their right mind would destroy their health like this for money, not even for 20K a week Nikko makes. I don't know what happened whether this is some extreme nutritional deprivation, genetics kicking in or some trauma following him like a shadow but hopefully, he will get the professional support he needs. His mukbang also shows a way for a quick buck to other YouTubers out there who may follow his example and ruing their health. Seems to me like he is screaming for help but all he gets is applause and the wrong sort of attention. As if there was the real guy somewhere inside who has lost all power over the body which is controlled by some sort of mental disease
  21. Completely agree with this! I see this as a huge huge issue with the chicken & rice bodybuilding diet. Endless stimulation of cellular growth can easily lead to prostate cancer not to mention rapid telomere shortening.
  22. No problem, thank you for restoring & getting the forum back up & running
  23. Ironically, I found speaking at Toastmasters the most effective way to beat that social anxiety. Especially once you get to have your own speech, the first time it felt like standing naked in frot of a crowd.
