  1. Diagnosed by endocrinologist or diabetologist? What is your A1C?
  2. huge beneficial to drop sources of refined grains, flour products, sugar-sweetened beverages and junk like candy and milk chocolate. That being said, make sure you replace the calories lost by including more complex sources of carbohydrates otherwise you will destroy your mood and energy levels in a week.
  3. become a client of one of those online banks and each month transfer some funds from your main account and only use the online bank for all your spending. Most of these are amazing at tracking expense, different categories and comparing with previous months. I use Monzo, which I believe is only in UK but Starling and Revolut seem to be becoming popular in many countries
  4. haha yes this is unfortunately very common once you start planting your own A strong barbed wire surrounding your land should do the trick. Or a dog (not always practical). Get to know your neighbours and have good relationships with them and they'll watch over your land. edit: I think I misunderstood the point and went into elaborate response so deleted all that
  5. You can go by: Whatever you can get without money (e.g. family garden, neighbour exchange, farm giveaways of unsold produce, supermarket leftovers etc) - this is not practical for most people but if you are lucky or live in the right part of the world or have family orchards, gardens, live next to people who are too lazy to pick the fruits themselves etc. you can get a lot this way. If you are a bit crafty and can dry some of it and freeze the rest you cna save hundreds of dollars/euros/pounds each year. Make sure to exchange the freebies with some booze or other gifts as nobody likes a one-sided deal. Whatever is local & seasonal at the given time - if you care about carbon footprint and ecology, then this is the first rule. Again, not always practical and not fort everyone. Sometimes due to economies of scale and long standing commercial partnerships and negotiated deals, it is cheaper to actually by from 10,000 miles away than what was grown 20 km from you. That presents a bit of a conflict when shopping so choose whatever is more important to you. Whatever is currently on sale / reduced or what the local supermarket is endorsing on their points card - some supermarkets do produce discounts all the time especially as it is nearing "best by" date which btw has nothing to do with the quality of the food. So keep an eye out for what local supermarkets reduce and when and then be there among the first. I'm savings hundreds of pounds a year this way. I also don't mind shopping by the points card discounts as long as I can get good quality produce for cheaper. Yeah, you're helping the supermarket create an avatar of your own customer behaviour profile but who cares. It's not like google already has all your information anyway My own personal thing is also whatever is not wrapped in plastic. But this is also impractical for many people so again, do your best. But when you have choice to be more ecological or less with same type of food, I'd opt for green unless the price difference is substantial. If nothing of the above applies to you, then just go by what you like. Focus on variety and where possible avoid overhyped and overpriced produce (e.g. things like pomelo, dragon fruit, cherries, exotic mushrooms are outrageously expensive in UK for their nutritional content which is comparable to products half their price. Get the largest variety you can by becoming comfortable with many new recipes. Different cultures endorse different produce so a good way to use more veggies is to learn some Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French, Morrocan and Israeli cooking for a great variety. If your country's local foods are awful (e.g. German/British/French) , then abandon them completely and become a multiculti chef. I find that to be the best way to learn to incorporate new ingredients Basically you want your grocery cart to look like a magnificent colourful rainbow forest rather than a freaking "cart of death and disease" the way most people's carts look which are filled with meat, eggs, flour, sugar, junk and more meat. Fill most of your grocery kart with plants and only add up refined grains and animal products at the top than the other way around
  6. Most of these products is a turmeric powder that you would use in kitchen stuffed in a capsule l, marked up at + 300% and close to 99% unabsorbable by the human intestines. Not to mention that if there is indeed a contamination risk, that's how you expose yourself in high levels. If you are concerned rather buy organic turmeric powder and use small quantities in cooking. The combined effect of heating and mixing with oils and other polyphenols from your other ingredients may, in the net total, give you a higher yield of absorbed curcumin than some overpriced capsule would which is an equivalent to supplementing chalk. Or just avoid it altogether
  7. Agreed, Gill is an incredible source of deeply researched and non technical info. One of the best channels on nutrition for sure
  8. One risk of the AC Facebook Group is that it is based on hearsay and groupthink. People who contradict them, get banned and a lot of the stuff people say here is based on either AC book or something other users said. This is something you see hardcore Christians doing, whatever isn't in the bible is not true. So it's sort of closed boiling pot effect. You prevent outsiders who would challenge the perspective by banning them and all current users are requested only to comment in lines of the held dogma otherwise risk getting the boot. The fact that group is called "acsfanatics" indicates a degree of zealotry and kinda indoctrinates all members, especially those with a reputation to hold. There is very little appeal to evidence and 100% of symptoms are generally being linked to heavy metal toxicity. Lot of these people have shit diets, passive lifestyles, chronic diseases, mental health problems and are not doing anything else other than dumping chelating agents down to fix those. Just a small observation based on my short time being part of the group for observation purposes. But of course there is still a lot of and useful stuff. Just keep your mind open when following this content verbatim. Finally it is worth knowing that most current studies on these things have confidence intervals equivalent to a wide-open barn door.. Meaning the moment you try to isolate the toxin as the causative agent by controlling for other confounding variables like diet, obesity, weight, exercise levels etc, the statistical relevance blows like a balloon and the heterogeneity of the results approaches 100% quickly. So you end up with no idea what is causing the symptoms because people's results are all over the place and results become statistically non-significant whether positive or negative. Ofcourse this sort of reasoning gets you the boot in the AC Group. Also, I say this in full knowledge that the current level of research on low-grade environmental toxicity is shit which is a huge limiting factor. I don't think the evidence has quite caught up so open to changing my mind. Just a small caution about blind dogmatism in the AC Group. Some questions we still DO NOT know the right answers to: what are the effects of individual genotypes and SNPs on the individual efficiency of toxin removal what is the level of interaction between diet and absorption in the proximal and distal bowel? E.g. do we know to what degree does fibre and polyphenols in the diet interact? what do we know about the rate of absorption of all these heavy metals when coming from food? Could we be jumping the gun by chelating based on urine tests in the absence of liver biopsy results? what are the factors that inhibit and stimulate hepatic detoxification of heavy metals? what is the most reliable way to test for each heavy metal other than liver biopsy? what are the safe and dangerous ranges on urine test, blood tests, hair sample test and liver biopsy? these are different for each metal and each toxin what is the route of distribution of each metal in the body? Are there long-term consequences of dumping high-volume chelating agents for years in a row? Do we have any prospective data on this? What about safety and contraindications of chelating agents for people who are on other medication?
  9. @mmKay oh ya, the air in the car can be pretty messed up especially if you drive an older car. Also, mould formation in the car is an issue especially with non-leather seats. I have 3 dehumidifying packs always in the car (and then dry them on my heater in a room where nobody hangs out) regarding the air, sometimes you need to service your AC unit and have the whole fan cleaned and replaced if needed. Most cars have the button to prevent crap from cars in front of you getting in and it triggers internal circulation (which in case of an old car can be even worse :D)
  10. Most jobs do not have that level of freedom. Definitely use it to your advantage. It is not perfect but you could probably peg in top 5% of corporate freedom in terms of not needing to be in the office. In this job, it seems like you have the resources and the freedom to actively pursue your passion. Maybe the challenge is with scheduling slots. Cal Newport's time blocking works well for me - his "Deep Work" book might be very helpful for your scenario. this might give you an extra hour. I've recently moved my entire sleep block to 10:30 - 06:30 so that I can clock in 2 extra hours + 20 minute of meditation before starting my 9-5 job at 9. Obviously if I had kids, this wouldn't be possible. two words : batch cook - get a pressurised cooker and you'll have 3 days worth of food sorted. yah, I used to have a job with these requirements. Maybe this is the time slot you can do nothing about. That's ok. This is the non-negotiable work time. I would say the core of that time should be actively figuring out your passion and first steps towards out there. Like really with ruthless amount of focus and determination. Otherwise, it is easy to have a "mask-time" which is basically pseudo-productive time on social media and idle reading. No judgement, this is just something I observe in my life. The less strict I become and the looser the boundaries are the more I am looking for the path of least resistance where I think I am productive (*e.g. listening to podcasts) but in reality, am just wasting my time. THIS!! This is what I meant above. Lock 90-minute slot, put away your phone and journal on this. This should be the core of your non-work productive time. whatever it takes, however long, this is what you need to figure out to start feeling like you are tunneling your way out of corporate. If it takes 10 years, that's a small cost. The only way to figure this out is to make it part of your routine. It is rare that this lands on your lap as many people expect. Life purpose is actively being discovered like searching for a lost civilization in the Jungle, it is rare that people just stumble upon it. It requires planning and active strategy ya, we all do. That's the purpose of the current job. There is no need to be perfect at your consultancy job. Just keep clients reasonably happy so that you get paid each month. Builds your CV and keeps you mentally active while figuring out your main thing. Good luck, you got this!
  11. the problem is that you are chasing shortcuts. Drop the get rich mindset and tackle the problem from a different perspective. How can I start delivering so much value to the world that people will want to pay me for it? You don't need 30K a month to become financially independent. If you are modest and have decent lifestyle 2.5K EUR a month can get you there if you can setup your life and your biz that way. So the next logical question is: where do you start acquiring the skill you need to build that? Forget what is quick, easy, cheap, effortless and guaranteed. Financial freedom is hard, painful and incredibly ungrateful struggle to get to. But it is worth it.
  12. Maybe you can rent an industrial dehumidifier for a month somewhere? Other than what i mentioned above I don't have other update. Google what other people with similar issues did.
  13. A herbalist once swore to me that liquorice tincture does wonders for vocal chord inflammation but I've never tried it..still might be worth looking into it. Just be aware of the potential pro-hypertensive effects of the herb (or get DGL free)
  14. bro, is Chris Hemsworth your dad or something? Super cool to see everyone's faces. Keep it up yall
  15. Cells have a limited number of times they can replicate. I don't exactly know what the main factors in this are, telomere length probably being one of them. Have fast and how efficient we are at repairing tissues is largely going to be defined by your genetics rather than anything else. Once you have scarred tissue such as in people with emphysema, that is irreversibly damaged and irreplacable. Scar tissue does not become malignant (I think) but it can impact tissue functionality (e.g. wheezing, difficulty breathing when under tension and possibly even reducing lung volume) Lessor damage can probably be repaired, but again, the localised tissue is going to be impacted for the rest of your life which means you need to pay more attention to your lifestyle than life-long non-smokers. That's probably how it starts for most guys
  16. If you were 0% you'd be stone cold ? Just make sure not to smoke ever again and cut away any mates who social pressure you to do it The soft tissue of lungs and alveoli has insane regeneration capabilities as long as you stop destroying it. Don't forget that smoking also affects the issues of the entire oral mucosa as well as laryngopharyngeal area. All these areas have increased cell turnover and higher risk of malignancy in smokers and ex smokers. You are never going back to the same level of COPD and neoplasms risk as someone who has never smoked but permanent quitting is going to go a long way.
  17. somewhat true but I feel like the questions were not probing enough and some of them were either totally unreliable or very vague and easy to misunderstand
  18. "Garlic (Allium sativum L., Liliaceae) was investigated for its potential to prevent the accumulation of lead or cadmium, major environmental pollutants, and to reduce their toxic effects in rats" We certainly have to appreciate the limitations of the rodent research. While it is definitely interesting, it would be a long stretch saying, garlic detoxifies heavy metals in humans. I'd still eat it tho because its awesome
  19. This is for micropenis tho, which is an actual diagnosis, I think and has something to do with androgen deficiencies. For an adult male who is past puberty, it's like wanting to grow physically, you need to break bones and joints and then reassemble to be able to do that. Not sure if OP feels like participating on dick cutting therapy and having a silicon extension added but hey, things we wouldn't do for the satisfaction of the girl
  20. @flowboy seems you replied before I took the comment down as it was kinda uneccesary and a bit childish. Anyway, good to know his music career is picking up ?
  21. I get what you're saying and in the ultimate perspective, you are right. Animal abuse is indeed no different to human abuse once we put all biases and norms aside. Anyone consuming animal products is consciously or subconsciously choosing to take on board the ethical consequences of that. Once people are okay with that, I think there isn't anything else to be said on the matter. Because what else are we going to do, jail people for eating meat? You can spread awareness but you cannot enforce it on global level through use of force, you could say that in itself would be highly unethical (from the perspective of current moral guidelines, not from the absolute perspective) I don't think it will ever be any different. Whether that is morally right is one thing and whether what you describe is an utopia is another thing. I also thing, realistically, we can compensate for loss of karma (or call it whatever you want) in other areas of life E.g. choosing to consume some animal produce but at the same time working as a volunteer in animal conservation centre in Asia or working on an ethical farm....something like that. Or you could simply choose not to care Depending on who you talk to, it would or would not be acceptable.
  22. @Something Funny I'd just eat it. That is the easiest, cheapest and safest way (unless you have intolerance to garlic)
  23. strawman argument blown into ridiculous proportions
  24. what you want to do is crush it and let it sit for a few minutes before cooking. This triggers an enzymatic activity and conversion of allin to allicin (30 second - 5 minute duration). Once that is done, I believe allicin is fully heat resistant. If you cook it before that , the heat destroys the enzyme alliinase that initiates the conversion and garlic basically becomes a fancy oligosaccharide but you kill some of its healing properties. Once the reaction has taken place, cooking should not render the allicin concentration but it might affect bioavailability. Also, I have no idea if allicin survives gastric emptying and how much of it actually gets absorbed in the lumen of the gut. All the garlic studies we have are on allicin powders not on garlic cloves so we are talking hypotheticals here interesting, never heard about that the most cool thing I noticed is that megadosing garlic in food shortened my covid recovery and that also worked for my girlfriend when she got sick recently, but it could have been down to other things too so hard to say.
  25. that's an insane salary! I am nowhere near that level even after 8 years of corporate career in UK. Well done, you can save A LOT on that income especially if you share rent with your parents. I think from what you say this is a perfect situation to be in because you are saving shit ton of money and still have time to figure out your life purpose. If you say it is monotonous that's actually perfect, it means once you learn all the basics, you will be able to do your work more efficiently and focus more on the important stuff. Do you have to go to the office daily or is hybrid module an option? How much time in the day could you dedicate to your thing (including mornings and evenings)? How many hours a week of pure time do you think could go into that? P.S. don't forget to milk out all those cool benefits !
