Yes, everything that contradicts their vision is """CGI""" or """shills""". Discussion is pointless.

Really? Flat earth bullshit here?

I've been doing concetration meditation for ~1,5 year, 30 minutes on average a day. It has taken my concentration skills to the next level. How to do it? Sit down, close your eyes and commit to focusing on the breath, don't let the attention wander. If you manage to do 30 minutes without a single mind wandering you will see what I'm taling about and the benefits will be obvious. I can now concentrate on the things I'm learning for hours. Concentration is like a muscle, train it and it will become strong. -
I lift weights, so if I were to go vegan and wanted to get enough protein I'd need to eat lentils and beans every day (considering availability of other choices where I live). But the ethical points you're raising are valid, I guess I don't care enough.

"There are drugs which can alter your conciousness so much that you lose the sense of self. That proves my points and disproves yours. Also taking it can result in fear, terror and fucking up your head. But that's cool cuz you need to do it. Because this is what I said. Don't wanna take this totally safe substance? Ok, I win the discussion peace out" ~Reasonable person -

I feel convinced now.

Naah, I know vegan people who eat 80-90% of their calories from carbs/sugar and they do 100km+ daily on the bike. How would eating sugar which is basically pure energy reduce their energy? Why do marathon runners eat sugar during the race? To get some glucose/energy. Unless what you mean by sugar is fast food, but that's not the same. You can eat plenty of sugar on a fast food - free diet.
-
How about using common sense and moderation? Sugar isn't toxic, people just have zero self control and overeat and then blame sugar.

Cool topic, but question 4 lacks the answer: "used drugs for different purposes".

Just keep still. But choose the posture wisely as some of them might cause some pain.

He was a bad person whose actions killed millions of people (including my grandfather). If your actions hurt and kill innocent people it's morally wrong, period. -

That is enlightenment? I'm enlightened then and I didn't even realize But seriously, I meditate for about 60 minutes daily and after few minutes the 'voice' shuts up completely and I realize that all there is during remaining minutes is: visual field, external sounds, body sensations, visual thoughts, auditory thoughts and emotions. Every time i notice some new experience in my awareness i note it (I even have a number for each type of experience) and continue being aware. So basically for an hour a day I stay in this ego-less state and I logically understand the illusory nature of "I", but during the day I'm still unconcious a great deal. I would never consider myself enlightened now and your description doesn't sound very convincing. Maybe Leo could share his thoughts on this. -

Watched few of his videos and it seems like he just uses words like "creation", "timelessness", "lack" to make his ideas seem profound when in fact there's little sense in there. Also has some weird guru aura around him.- 20 replies

5 years is a very arbitary number, from my experience it can take MUCH less. The key for me was doing concentration meditation for 30-60 minutes DAILY and being ruthless when it comes to proper technique. That's like saying that it takes 5 years of lifting to bench 225lbs, if you do 10 pushups daily you won't even get there in 5 years, if you take smart approach it can take much less. Leigh Brasington has a lecture on youtube on Jhanas which I highly recommend to anyone interested in this topic. -

uh, no Consciousness is a local phenomenon, you are conscious, I am conscious, but your sentence makes no sense.- 9 replies

Does anyone here practice concentration meditation? If yes, what are your attainments in terms of Jhanas? I've been practicing this method alongside with my vipassana practice for over a year and had great success with it. I remember Leo using term "samatha" once so maybe there will be a video on this topic some day?

Today I was thinking about this question: what exactly brings you back to awareness/presence during meditation when you lose it for a while (mind wandering). I probably experienced this moment thousands of times already but never wondered how does that happen that one second you are "asleep" and then the next second you snap back to being present. Is it the fact that I simply trained my mind to do it by repeating the process so many times? Still, I would like to know the mechanism by which it happens.

This idea that you suck at meditationg for a year isn't universally true, at least for me. After I commited to meditating with good technique and did it every day for 30-60 minutes I began having very deep sessions after few months, maybe like 3 months. I also had relatvely good sessions before.

I'll quickly describe how I do it and I'd like to ask you for an opinion on whether it's a good way to live. Whatever happens to me, I assign some positive meaning to it. Stressed? It's great, I can practice mindfulness. Bad training session? Great, I'm putting the work in and next time it will be better. Somebody pisses me off? I quickly notice it and ask: do I want to feel bad? I answer no, smile and move on. Essentialy what I decided to do is to be the master of my emotions. I could go on and on but what I want to ask you is do you think it's a good long term strategy? Will it lead to delusions? Isn't it healthy to feel mad sometimes?
