  1. Thankyou all for your advice, to be honest, most of it I have heard before from other people so it isn't very helpful, but I may just be interpreting all of your info incorrectly/not listening the right way, but either way thanks all
  2. I'm loving this new system personally, just as I expected, defintely a step in the right direction! If you leave because of a change like this, then it is painfully obvious that you are not fit for this forum and only care about your stupid ass rep points and not actually doing PD or helping others in it. Sorry to anyone who feels like this, but it is the truth I feel
  3. @aurum you obviously didn't read my post, no offense again, but I clearly said I wanted MASTERY of ILLUSTRATION. Simple as that really, a mentor, formal schooling may work, but I didn't say I was looking for that, I said I was looking for mastery of illustration. That is simply what I am looking for. Mastery meaning the deliberate practice/improvement of a skill, that skill being Illustration. @pluto you have misunderstood what I have said, I have not given up due to my starting to think it may be impossible, it is just a legitmate concern considering the ridiculous amount of time spent on Illustration so far and not one improvment on it at all...I have tried drawing random stuff from my imagination, doing backgrounds, facial expressions etc...of both humans and animals, what I am trying to say is I am clearly missing something, a technique which is in plain sight but I am missing....I am 'practicing' illustration to the best of my abilities, but cleary I am not doing something right, you can feel it, you know when you aren't actually improving/doing something right. thanks @BjarkeT I will look at that, maybe that can help me get started on this, once I start and know how to improve/practice this, it will be easy!
  4. @HII lol it's not as simple as that, I have already tried actually DOING it obviously, and it hasn't gotten me anywhere...I have tried backgrounds, positions, and I am clearly missing something, you don't just sit down and do whatever you want in illustration...which is what I think you are mistaking it for? You haven't given me a proper technique either, basically just repeated what I have heard others say over and over again, no offense
  5. Yes @Leo Gura please remove all of it!!! It is a blight upon this forum! 3 points: 1: Without being offensive, (and in my opinion) the majority of people with huge reputation points really don't know what they are talking about in regards to their reputation which makes them them seem like some some of master when actually all they have done is written alot over time (mostly nothing of high quality) and this has racked up reputation points..., people will look at this person and think they are a master and they are most certainly not. 2: it makes the forum more like facebook/ and in my opinion is just totally pointless, we don't need it at all! It serves no purpose I can see no other purpose than to LITERALLY feed people's ego's, for example, one is purely motivated by these points, and to do so, will just post memes and stuff which they know will rack up the points, which is totally the opposite of what we want on this forum!! People are not motivated by actual helping or discussion, just these damn points! 3: There is no way to know what the reputation points have been given for, sometimes I see meme's and jokes getting like 30 rep points each, meaning that people who literally have just posted jokes about stuff may be listed as a 'great ape' just by posting stupid shit like that over and over again. Also @Girzo yes exactly! And as for people saying they can tell it's a 'quality' post when it has lots of rep points, if you call having memes about not jerking off for 90 days a 'quality' post due to it's high rep count, then there really isn't much to say about this broken system. (Again anyone or Leo if you are reading this, no offense intended, it is just how I feel and I am quite passionate about it and how I believe it severly cripples this site but making it a facebook clone, not a proper Personal Devleopment forum for people who actually want to do the work.) 4: It dosen't suit the site at all! So my vote is for removing it all! I think if you did a free vote on the forum the majority would vote to remove it all honesty, maybe 60/40.
  6. I would raise it up to 30 mins personally, as @Koyaanisqatsi said, 20 mins will only let you touch the surface of the meditation, anything lower than that and you aren't really going to get anywhere, as you have seen, you have done it for 1 year and normally by this time, if you have done-20-30 mins a day then you will experience your first 'raising' of 'conciousness' and have a seperation from your mind and be in your meditative state the whole day basically. Of course it depends if you can keep it up, 30 mins a day may not sound like alot but it is very very difficult on some days to do that without fail for a whole year or more I would try 30 mins and see how you last in it, and see if you can sustain it for a year or more, which will be enough to get some sweet results! Of course remember you will need to find the motivation to do this first or you will crash and burn, that is guaranteed, you will not be able to hold up a habit for 1 year or more by just forcing yourself to do it, especially when it is 30 mins a day of meditation Goodluck!!!
  7. @Spiral the fuck? totally subjective opinion on school subjects and advising someone who may not yet be sexually mature to 'start fucking the hot girls in class'.
  8. Hey @Helios there are many ways to do it, but for me and probably most other people on here the best way to do it is through the life purpose course done by A.O...I was skeptical at first that it may not work but as I made my way through it I realised it worked and by the end I had found my LP, simple!! There are other courses that help you do it as well but the A.O LP course is comprehensive and not only helps you find your LP but then put it into action, something that alot of other courses lack. I would recommend just getting it because trying to do it all by yourself is really, really hard, even with all the free info out there today...
  9. @Socrates you just know...you can feel it, as the course goes on and on, you find your 'values' etc...by the end you will ask yourself what is your ideal medium and domain of mastery and you will know inside, it will come naturally without effort at least that is how it worked with me.
  10. @Charlotte you are on your way, keep us up to to date on how all of it goes!
  11. @Jedd you are a legend, well done! You did what you needed to do regarding the childhood memories, and more by completing the course and taking tons of action in your life!
  12. Everyone here seems to be recommending mindfulness meditation to help disidentify with your mind and end your OCD once and for all, it seems some of us even had extreme OCD and cured it through this!
  13. @Charlotte defintely @The White Belt and @Spacious know what they are talking about!! In my opinion, I hear good things about CBT, although I never tried it, it probably will help your OCD, but I cured my OCD with mindfulness meditation with an average of 20-30 mins a day for just under a year every day, this is GUARANTEED to rid the anxiety caused by your OCD permenantely, (if you are looking for a long term solution to this, after all, your brain is no different than mine, if I or anyone else can cure OCD via mindfulness meditation, then you can as well, with time and practice of course) It really does depend if you actually have OCD or not, you may just been an anxious person, but may not have it as deep as I have and might just need something to cope with it short term, if that is the case, I would advise to go with the CBT and then move onto meditation if that fails!
  14. @Psyche_92 sound tough man, but good that you are facing this decision now as to cut the head off of it, eh? In my opinion, I would try and pretend in in my mind what it is like to do either option, like REALLY vividly so you feel like you are actually doing both, and then you will probably be able to feel which one is legitamtely the superior choice, it may not work, but that is what I would do, deep down you know which one you want to do maybe it's something else, other than those 2? (Is what you may discover>
  15. @John Iverson I agree with these 2! Keep at it and you will be able to visualise someway or another, I have difficulty visualising as well...
  16. Sounds very normal to me @Jedd the course is bound to bring up alot of your past as you are discovering yourself and searching through your mind and soul. I didn't have it personally but in my opinion it sounds pretty normal, maybe a bit random, but it is probably just your mind associating a piece of info with another piece of info off the course. How is it now? (As you posted this October 9th).
  17. @Spiral I Agree 100%!
  18. Honestly @Mridul Jain I may be alone on this but I would strongly advice doing most personal development at your age, you are so so young, your mind hasn't even begun to properly devleop into adolocence yet or possibly even puberty yet, start PD when you become brain has started the process to mature into an adult brain, for example, 15 and a half or 16 is good, then you are more of a young adult who is able to apply these mindsets and such. Those are the perfect ages in my opinion to start doing it, not too young, not too old. Meditation will be too much for you, I feel, once you get into it, it totally changes your whole brain and is very very powerful, I think people who are advising you to just go ahead here severely undestimate the power of mindfulness meditation and how especially in the later stages it is EXTREMELY powerful, far too much for a 12 year old, and I am not saying this to undermine you, but because I fear that it will simply be too much for your brain to handle, like it would be for ANY 12 year old. Also, why do you feel the need to get started so early? You still have your childhood to enjoy!! A few more years at least I would recommend before you dive into this stuff, until then, just enjoy being a young teen! Good diet and exercise is of course recommended to start on, this is normal for anyone of your age, the earlier the better on that, and if you have a passion, then it is good to start mastering that as well, as for the rest of personal development like meditation, psychedelics, dating etc...leave it until you are ready.
  19. @Marco_the_Ape why are you being so condescending and rude? He is just asking a question, the normal response would be to post something you deem helpful, or not to post anything at all. Isn't that what this forum is about, to help people who are stuck and lost, instead of telling them off for not being a master at something yet?
  20. @Pebble In my opinion yes, if you feel deep down that it isn't serving any purpose to you other than a distraction, because even in moderation, any news is bound to stir alot of anger in you for obvious reasons, so it's probably best to do with what you did with the TV 10 years ago that may just be me @egoeimai and @HII though.
  21. @Marinus You aren't alone, some of my friends had the same issue before, and I still would prefer to go into a cubicle and only pee in front of someone else as an absoulete last resort as for the same reasons you put. Honestly, urinals are a stupid invention for this very reason, I don't want to get my dick out in front of strangers, let alone random men in the toilets...hopefully another way around is devised in the future, eh? Until then, in my opinion, just go with what @Echoes said It can be dealt with!!
  22. How do all of you in here in your daily lives deal with family, friends, co-workers and pretty much everyone around you who you start to realise are completely dysfunctional and unconcious as you grow? This is a genuine question because recently I am actually starting to get concerned that it is making me go mad...the anger, the decisions, the stupidity, the selfishness, the lack of compassion and empathy...everyone else is unable to understand the mess they are in...interacting with these people and seeing how they live their lives is enough to make my brain hurt. Any thoughts on how to deal or cope with this insanity around us? And how do all of you do it in your daily lives??
  23. Thankyou both, very useful advice
  24. Thankyou everyone, you all seem to agree on the same points really, I will see what I can do with all of your advice. Thankyou all
