Ease on meditation and go exercise if you get overwhelmed
Are There Any Books About The Nervous System And How It Relates To Spirituality?Yes, of course stuff like that will happen. That's the spiritual growth process at work. Your energy body is changing, your physical body is changing, your mind is changing, your beliefs are changing, etc. Kundalini energy is rising.
This is very complex topic. It's not just about what's going on in your brain. There are subtle spiritual bodies at work in this process. This process is not just psychological or physical, it's deepest roots are existential and spiritual.
Yoga, Buddhism, Tantra, and Daoism talk a lot about this.
I touch on this topic in my Dark Side Of Meditation video. A lot of weird stuff can happen when your Kundalini starts to rise from meditation/yoga, ranging from the annoying and frustrating to full blown paranormal.
If you feel yourself losing control of your life, then you might ease off on the meditation for a while and do more physical exercises to ground yourself. Otherwise, proceed and trust the process, but also listen to your body and intuition.
A book about the nervous system is not going to be very helpful for this stuff. You want to look for books on Kundalini, Qi, chakras, energy work, etc. Western science doesn't understand this stuff almost at all. Because it only happens to serious meditators and it's non-physical in nature.

Don't use meaninglessness as an excuse to not do anything
Completely Confused About DriveYou're too lost in existentialism. There are real world problems. War, crime, problems in education, terrorism, not even going into all the internal issues people have, there's a lot of issues that are incredibly overlooked, misunderstood and not even recognized or acknowledged as an issue at all. There's a huge difference in maintaining the status quo vs advancing society and ourselves. Yes, existentially, everything is perfect and just as it's meant to be. but when it comes to real world problems it sounds like you're using existential insights as an excuse to not do anything.
You're right motivation is tricky. You just gotta look at yourself and be honest and ask -- do I really care to help others? have an impact on the world? live up to my highest possibilities in life? and if your answer no or even a "eh" then you gotta ask yourself again. then what do I REALLY care about honestly? and there you'll have a clue to your true motivations. and from what I see you just want to be comfortable and safe, which is fine. but you're limiting yourself massively, and I recommend you get on the self actualization journey and live up to the peak of human capability.
"If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you'll be unhappy for the rest of your life." - Abraham Maslow

Have patience and don't beat yourself up
Working On Lp Is Triggering Intrusive Thoughts.@The White Belt The mind always creates resistance when you try to make big positive changes to your life. This is normal. I always experience resistance when I start a big important self-help course. Just try as best you can to push through it and maintain consistency. Over time, the mind will quiet down. The trick is to not let the whining get you to quit a good thing.
Remember, that you also don't need to be 100% perfect in doing the course. 80% is good enough. 80% is enough to change your life.
Don't feel bad about finding your life purpose. It's really a necessary component of a conscious life. Even if you got enlightenment tomorrow, you would still want to develop a conscious way of making a living. So by doing this work now, you are helping yourself become conscious, and then in the future take the ultimate step to enlightenment.
Don't feel guilty for walking a comprehensive spiritual path. Just make sure you don't get trapped in success to the point where you neglect enlightenment.
Anything you can do to make your life more conscious is a great thing. Whether it's cleaning up your diet, relationships, career, friendships, or whatever. That is NOT wasted effort. That's all great stuff which is part of the comprehensive spiritual path. Sure, it's not directly related to enlightenment, but you gotta start with getting the basics in place or you will be unable to sustain enlightenment.
Remember, that if you're still young -- like in your 20's -- you've got plenty of time to pace yourself and address many aspects of your life. Just don't take that as license to slack off and watch TV.

How to release emotions
Mind Attacks After Initial SeeingMedicine from a dear friend:
Come out of the mind and into the senses: look for the acceptance of what it is that you are FEELING within your body. If acceptance cannot be found, embrace the resistance itself. (Resistance is acceptance in slow motion.)
Engage with the sensations, because even though they may seem like threatening your life because of how uncomfortable they feel, in fact nothing is happening that is not trying to PROTECT you in some way.
Gently ask the sensations: what is it that you are trying to show me or protect me from? ( sometimes an image or brief words may appear, other times, nothing comes, other times mind intervenes with yet another story - embrace). Tell the sensations that it is OK and that their efforts are greatly appreciated! Tell mind: "thank you for trying to control and protect... but your role will change to a new exciting one now" and then disengage from it.
Bring body feelings to the forefront and treat them as you would a teddy-bear. Gently, softly, playfully.
Some kind of a "release sign" will come up at one point - a huge sigh, a yawn, a burp...
This too....shall pass!

2) Short-sightedness and not taking full responsibility
3) Setting no core values to live by (It's all meaningless anyway. lets just watch TV)

Don't confuse your ego with the authentic self
How I Awoke: The Story And Dynamics Of My AwakeningYeah, I can spot that in others and myself, too. I've spotted it yesterday in @Huz when we skyped to elaborate on what the ego really is and how it works. But more importantly I can spot and differentiate it in myself from my normal self.
The "Self" with a capital "S" is your authentic character. It is the way how you are. What you like, how you speak, how you think, etc. This is not bad at all. This is your expression in this world. Don't try to get rid of that. I see a lot of people confusing that with ego. The ego is the suit that I talked about in my post. It resists parts of your authentic, spontaneous arising character to keep it in place. It's like a guardian that makes sure you don't get too crazy.
Well, there's always a cost of having that kind of 24/7 security.

Easy to talk big. Work!
My F****** Excuse@Jordan wang Of course. So get a job, hustle, and save up your own money to start a business. Don't expect anyone to support your life. You are very lucky your parents give you any money at all. Most people don't get that.
If you are so smart, you should put your smarts towards supporting yourself, earning a living, moving out on your own, becoming fully independent, and having creating business ideas.
If you're so smart, roll up those sleeves and get to work actualizing that smartness. It's easy to talk big, it's another thing to actually do it in the real world, where nobody gives a shit about your dreams.

Ground yourself with exercise
Did I Become A Schizophrenic?@Youssef Sounds like you need some grounding exercises. You're too stuck in your head. Try joining a yoga or kickboxing class. Join a sport like soccer, etc. Get your body grounded. Take a break for a while. Go be out in nature, hiking, etc.
The ego will react violently to dramatic growth. Expect some epic ego backlashes on this path. Especially if you try to do it quick and hard.

Still a lot of PD after enligthenment
Confused About Self-development As A WholeIn practice what will happen is you will stop doing personal dev and you will start to stagnate.
Doesn't matter how enlightened you get, there is always more work to do on yourself and your life. It never ends. That's life in a nutshell: evolution.
The key here is to just make growth and learning an everyday part of your life. Besides enlightenment you should be working of your career, your infrastructure, your education, your health, your nutrition, your relationships, your moral inadequecies, your skills, etc, etc.
