Hi all, I have been reading these questions and answers here on children and meditation. I have found a great way to introduce meditation to very young children and kids pretty much up to about 11 yrs old. It has been working out really well and kids are loving it! It gives them a reason to sit and relax and even concentrate and focus. It's amazing just how receptive they become after doing it a few times. Here is how this works. Give the child a seashell and ask them to hold it to their ear while you then read a short story meditation rhyme to them. It is short, fun, interactive, and the child gets the idea of doing the meditation while listening to this little shell. It is a great way to start them out. After a few times, they will ask you if they can do the meditation. They become more inspirational, quiet minded, relaxed, focused, and receptive. Sure worth a try. I created this seashell meditation method last oct. It is now out in books. Here is one of the stories the kids love. Give it a try. Please let me know how the little ones respond. I always appreciate knowing. Happy meditations!
