Consciousness is everything. It's pretty simple. -
I'm going to synthesize bits from a few of this guy's articles, because they opened my eyes a bit. 1. Stream-Entry – the fetters of doubt, personal identity and attachment to rituals completely fall away. 2. Once-Returner – sensual desire and aversion are greatly attenuated, but still exist. 3. Non-Returner – sensual desire and aversion are extinguished. 4. Arahant – all craving is extinguished (including desire for fine material existence and existence in subtler levels), together with pride, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance. This is what is rightly called nirvana, Enlightenment (jnana, vidya) or Liberation (moksha, mukti). http://liveanddare.com/neo-advaita/8/ Notice how the illusion of personal identity is the first thing to fall away. Most people stop here, because they mistake it for Aranhat, or they stop caring. After the realization of your true nature, there's still a lot of work in integrating it to dissolve all your patterns and free yourself of suffering. Notice how most of the people giving Satsang in Southern California aren't at stage four (which is incredibly, incredibly rare; the Vedas say only one in a billion souls is at this level of total enlightenment). Edit: scroll down, Leo makes an important point.

@Guivs oh yeah. Whether or not those specific photos are legitimate, I wouldn't doubt that some very crazy things happen as consciousness grows. What's stopping weird things from happening? All of this reality is just consciousness; the only thing which makes it all seem to obey certain laws is the fact that most beings operate at a very similar [low] frequency of awareness. When someone with a highly raised awareness interacts with this world, we call it a miracle, when really it's just a higher consciousness overwhelming a lower one. theres a reason that in the Christian tradition, a servant of God is sometim s called a "love slave." Christ's consciousness totally overwhelms ours, so we can become it. -

I really don't know. All I can say for certain, is that there is a difference between certain teachers, with intuition definitely saying who's a Buddha, and who's just awake, if you know what I mean. I think Leo refers to the difference as self mastery. -

@PureExp I'll know when "I" am at stage one. Hahaha. Perhaps the survival instincts of the body? -

I am inclined now to say that it does have to do with depth of enlightenment. In person, the presence of someone as enlightened as Peter Russell (or Leo;) may be very pleasant. But the presence of OSHO, Sadguru, Ramana Maharshi, Mooji, or Ram Dass? Profoundly loving, pure radiation of bliss. People go to Ram Dass retreats, for example, and they sob because of his presence alone. -

Death? -
This lady hits the nail on the head all the way into the wood.

Let's consider the notion of time. According to general relativity, all moments past, present, and future are gemotric figures in a sea of figures, all with motion. Yet the human organism doesn't perceive this; it perceives time as a kind of linear path (the common spiritual aphorism "only the present moment is real" applies to the human subjective reality, not objective or "God-head" reality). Why? Why is there this arbitrarily linear path, when in reality there is just a sea of time and space? Doesn't it seem a little strange that we have a linear experience when linearity doesn't exist? Using human terms, it's almost as if consciousness is choosing to view this extremely small slice of an infinite pie, in a linear fashion, to experience some sort of story (ego). That's one way to bring science and spirituality together. Others include but are not limited to: research into psychedelics showing that the brain is more "unified" under their effects (meaning "all is one" subjectively), studies in parapsychology showing statistically significant effects of the human mind on the "outside" world, Peter Russell's explanation of light as a product of consciousness ( YouTube "the reality of consciousness"), near-death experience research ( there's a fantastic article on the website Salon about this). "Upon Besso's death in 1955, Einstein wrote a letter of condolence to the Besso family—less than a month before his own death—which contained the following quote "Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That signifies nothing. For those of us who believe in physics, the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion."'

Mahasamadhi. Acually, no. Mahasamadhi is probably way beyond 5-MeO-DMT. -

If you're to be a skeptic, be a proper one. Vulnerable and counterintuitive ideas require the most evidence, but they also deserve the most research, especially if there is a tangible benefit in implementing them. -

So happy this is getting popular, cause if it's legitimate then it is a game-changer for sure. I'm 80% on it being real, based on the research I've done watching all the vids and reading about siddhis, miracles, etc. When I can, I'm going to Ray Maor's 10 Day Process to find out for myself, and I encourage anyone else to do the same. I see this as being something which, if real, can up your productivity dramatically, and potentially raise your consciousness by making you significantly "lighter." And it's not as if you just have to stop enjoying food afterward; you can still eat what you like and feel good, but you just won't need it to survive. -

@FirstglimpseOMG Which argument? And isn't the common view among neuroscientist that consciousness arises in the brain; what makes Harris special? -
"'Reasoning doesn't have this function of helping us to get better beliefs and make better decisions,' said Hugo Mercier, who is a co-author of the journal article, with Dan Sperber. 'It was a purely social phenomenon. It evolved to help us convince others and to be careful when others try to convince us.' Truth and accuracy were beside the point." This is a very good resource for learning about enlightenment, reality, and powers. http://modernawakenings.com/

"Magical realism, magic realism, or marvelous realism is literature, painting, film, and theater that, while encompassing a range of subtly different concepts, share in common an acceptance of magic in the rational world." Psychic powers and keg parties, enlightenment and kinetic energy, inhabit the same reality. The unknown is hidden in plain sight. "You and I" can be businessmen by day and mystics by night.

I think people rely too much on conspiracy theories to explain why the world is so crappy in so many ways. Frankly, I say that the world is crappy because people are just ignorant. Politicians arent diabolical genius reptillians; they're just selfish retards.

No. Not at this very moment- not in direct experience. Memory tells me there are other moments where I did, and hope says there will be moments that I will. Currently, I'm dealing with the love of my life up to this point having moved away, and me still being stuck where I am. The reason I want enlightenment is not a mature one, I understand. I never want to lose the people I love; I want to be them at all moments. -

@Leo Gura hey Leo, do you still stand by what you said in your how to become enlightened video, that it takes about 2 years? Does 5 meo speed that up? -
Hell yeah!

@Azrael that's amazing, truly awe-inspiring. Do you see yourself being "enlightened" soon?

I ask this because it suddenly occurred to me that I remember nothing of my deep sleep. When I am in the state of pure consciousness called sleep, though it is infinitely peaceful, I return and there is no memory: not even a passing memory as would be expected of a dream. So I ask, is pure consciousness blind to itself; does it need The Witness in the form of the organism to observe itself? In other words, does nonduality need duality to know itself?

Will Bigger replied to Will Bigger's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Prabhaker @WaveInTheOcean I think what we can gather is that there is a kind of cycling effect. At one moment, you are consciousness (nonduality) and at another you are conscious (duality) as an organism. And the goal of spiritual practice is to be both together. This goes beyond just enlightenment, which is simply a realization of your true nature. I like when Sadhguru spoke of Kriya yoga, he made it clear that the path of Kriya is for much more than just enlightenment. -
This ain't like the 9/11 conspiracy. At least there is a reasonable explanation for why the govt would want to cover that up. Flat earth is just.... a pointless thing to cover up. I mean, think about it... there is literally no reason to lie about the shape of the earth. It affects nothing. A govt lying about the shape of the earth would be like a human pretending to throw a ball to a dog but hiding the ball behind his back; shits and giggles= the only reason to do it.

Well... there is that Autobiography of a Yogi, and those speeches by Krishnamurti. Surely Osho's blog was written by a ghost writer, and the Pythagorean Therome was only named after Pythagoras in spirit.
