Eckhart Tolle is often talking about how it's better to make every day life the spiritual practice, rather than having a separate one. It's not about eating the cake or having it, but perhaps using this analogy, enlightenment would mean having the cake or eating it and being at peace with both and either of the choices -

@Inliytened1 If one has no sense of self one cannot write in a forum. Even Eckhart Tolle has a sense of self. Also Buddha and Jesus did. Otherwise they would not make sense when they talked. If you have no sense of self, for you it would be the same if you say "bla bla bla" and if you say "ahsfsfskdf", if you say "Go f yourselves" and "Go love yourselves". Because there is nobody there to make distinction between the difference. For an enlightened being to be, there needs to be a sense of self. Even if that sense of self is not the body, there is a sense of self. Even if that sense of self is empty of content, it is there. -

And after that if a zen master (or anyone else) slaps you, it still hurts right? -

That's planning on a whole different level. 22 years from now! Wow. But enlightenment is about being present to the moment, why wait 22 years, get 'insane' now -

You have to be asleep to wake up. Awakening is a business, you are always already awake. -

Awakening sounds sexy. A rude awakening sounds even sexier! Then I will definitely be awake -

I am aware of Leo's theory about this and I do not subscribe to anything that is not my experience / proven by my experience. For me it is only a way to explain something unexplainable so that we feel we understand. -

I do not subscribe to this idea about "all possibilities must happen bla bla" simply because it's not my experience. If it were the case, then the almighty will be able to create me plus 1 billion dollars in the next 5 seconds. Im waiting 5 seconds to confirm I did not, in fact, get 1 billion dollars. The possibikity has failed to manifest. The God of all possibilities has already failed. Dont tell me that it will happen but probably in another iteration, because if it really was that allpowerful, then it not only could but it Must happen in this iteration, otherwise it's not possible for it to happen in this iteration, which makes this God limited. Its not that, I wouldnt subscribe to such a god. -

@Someone here There is a difference between something being true and something proven to be true. I can assume something to be true, without any evidence and be correct. Evidence is not a requirement for something to be true. And I know, I can intuit you can say, that you have normal ordinary awareness, just as I do. And this can be absolutely true, even without any evidence. Example: I can assume, with a reasonable degree of certainty that your body that is typing on the forum has a nose ?. I have 0 evidence, yet something tells me I am right. Now you have a nose and I said im pretty sure you do. Then you send me a picture and show me evidence that you have a nose. Now I have evidence, but the statement that you have a nose has the same accuracy before and after the evidence. Evidence is just food for the mind. Let it grind for evidence while you and me have conscious awareness of the present moment. Solipsism is BS CONFIRMED -
Dodo replied to Red-White-Light's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hang on, but didn't you just prove solipsism is both true and false? Depending on the iteration that almighty one is doing? Sounds good to me. Nondual enuff -

Case reopened cause u have the evidence and not giving it to the court. -

@Someone here Funnily enough this is actually also something that I have had a glimpse into. There is something called the hypnagogic state, which happens right before you go into REM sleep. In this state colours begin to flash and you experience the dream creation process. It's fascinating and it feels like you are surfing on the waves of your imagination. But if you are not aware enough, you will fall unconscious as the dream starts and not realise you are dreaming. But if you surf well enough, you will get an epic lucid dream. If you've never had a lucid dream you have not lived! The freedom this gives. And the first thing most humans do when they have a lucid dream is to fly. You will do it as well I can almost bet. It feels like the best thing you can do, once you realise you're dreaming. You'll see! try it. Try lucid dreaming -

@Someone here Look, I don't have evidence that you are aware, but you have evidence that you are aware. An AI robot even if taught the lango will not have evidence that they are aware. I know that I am aware and have a subjective experience. I see myself in the mirror. Then I notice you are a human as well, with a head, 2 hands and 2 feet. 5 fingers most likely, 5 on the leg (unless some abnormalities). Look how many things I can deduce about you just by knowing you typed on this forum? You most definitely have thumbs. And also, most definitely have awareness. How do I know? Call me a psychic. (but the trick is to view your experience and assume the obvious - it is outrageous and arrogant to believe that you have no awareness of your own and are merely there as an object in my consciousness) -

@Someone here I will not answer to everything since it's better to focus on something specific. About this statement, I'm not sure if you know, but there is a way for you to realise you're dreaming while in a dream - Lucid dreaming. I have done this intuitively as a kid, and now as an adult I've taught myself to do it through Charlie Morley's book "Dreams of Awakening". There are many "reality checks" which one can perform in order to find out they are in a dream. For example one way to check if you're dreaming (yes I've done it with success) is to check your hand in the dream. Just flip your hand over a couple of times, first see the back of the hand then the palm and so on. Your mind will not be able to render a realistic version of this, since your hand is a very complex thing. Instead of a hand you will see some abnormality. My hand turned into an elephant or fish or some other crazy thing I don't even remember... But once a part of my dream body turns into this I know I'm dreaming. But only once you perform this check consciously you realise you're dreaming. Before that even if you see an elephant riding a bike, you will not notice it's not logical, simply because the logical part of your mind is turned off during REM sleep. I can verify that I am in a dream or waking reality by reading a text also. In a dream if you try to read something, the text will start moving around the screen and keep changing all the time. I've used this reality check also with success once, when I dreamt the screen of a tablet and realised I am in this strange ass dream, where I was just viewing a tablet, not even a human, just the tablet there, or was it a kindle? I have no clue! It was awesome tho. I can also do some math here and conclude this is not a dream. Absolutely impossible to do math in a dream. (Again, this is because your logical part of the brain is turned off or at least working at a minimum during REM) . -

I didn't see this earlier. The reason for the belief that others inside my dream don't have subjective experience is because they were created at the moment when I began the dream. They did not have lives before I went to bed and began dreaming. Nobody ever inside my dream has claimed lucidity or awareness, other than myself. However in the waking reality, all characters which I meet imply lucidity of their own and, in a way, that they exist even when I am not in their field of perception. For example that dream dog that was chasing me that one dream did not have a subjective experience of chasing me. That would require a dreamer on the other side, who is dreaming to be this dog and is the aware space in which that dream happens, but is dreaming it from the point of view of the dog. But that would then require every other character to have that as well. And since I can turn this dog or any other character into a candy inside that dream, that means that even inanimate objects then require a dreamer in order to have a subjective experience as that inside the dream. Do you think lollipops dream? But if a dog chased me in real life I will know that the dog has a subjective experience of its own and it is a real creature, not a figment of my imagination. For one, I will know it, because I will not be able to simply wish it away or just switch my dream or defeat it with superhuman strength which I can use inside an actual dream. If it can go poof just by me wishing it, it probably doesn't have a subjective experience. I know it doesn't sound very scientific, but I think it's the best way to explain this belief. How do I know I am now in the waking state or sleeping state? When you want to know that, you just have to look for the logic. If it's not there, you're in a dream. If there is logic, then it is the waking state. What do I mean by logic? That part of reality which does not allow you to fly at will without the necessary gear, which you can do inside a dream. In the waking reality you have to adhere to a specific set of rules and also there is much stronger continuity. There are also consequences of actions which you may pay for later on. In a dream you can murder everyone in cold blood and the next thing you know you're being crowned the King of Peace by an alien race of giant ants. That's how you know you're in a dream. If you end up in a high security prison for 40+ years, then you know you're in the waking state. youknowwhatImean How do you know other people are also aware in the waking state? How do we know? Easy!! Can I ask you, are you aware? The way you answer this question and the way I answer this question, if we are both honest, will be the same or very similar. Also if you are asked to describe this awareness, there will be striking similarities. It will turn out, me and you can both write about this separately, then compare notes and see that we are having the same experience of consciousness. This question has been asked to many inside this "waking dream" and I can tell you, you cannot get the answers from someone who is not aware. Ask someone in your actual dream that and you will see what the difference is. Try to ask Siri too. Or google. Google "knows" a lot of things, but it doesn't know shit about being aware and will never know. But really, after saying all this, it is not even important to know whether this is "waking" or "dream" reality. Those are just labels and reality could be either. I am not denying this could be a dream with logic. But whether it is a dream or not, there is something which is always real, in any state. The dream might not be real, but the you that experiences the dream IS real. Did you dream your dream last night? Yes Was it the same you that is on the forum right now? Yes Those two events happened in a different state, but there is something there which unifies both. That's the reality, not the waking or dream by themselves. I hope my answers are sufficient. -

It's not really sarcasm, you cant disprove you're not a 4D being that is sleeping and dreaming it right now. All i know is that the consciousness with which I know this "dream or awake" reality is the same as the consciousness of the entity or non-entity that creates the dream. Just like in your actual dreams at night, you are the same you that experiences this illusory world. -
Dodo replied to Red-White-Light's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Ohhh, then I must be the 4D creature that is dreaming this right now. He must be asleep, snuggled in his 4D blankets, perhaps Friday night. Dreaming a few trillion simultaneous 3D dreams, before waking up for his 4D weekend. Enlightened1, my mobile doesn't allow me to remove your quote from the text, sorry, ignore this. I could only remove the text -

I did not respond to the thread yet, with all that other stuff. Solipsism is the belief that only you are real and everyone else is a figment of your imagination, ie they do not have the awareness that you have. Like in your dream at night you can intuit that only your character is so called real and the rest are just there as content, without subjective experience of their own. This is not the case in this waking reality, I must say. Solipsism is a form of insanity which makes your current ego the center of everything. But the center is that to which both my subjective experience and yours report to. That one being, which is not an object AKA God. I am sitting here and i can confirm I have a subjective experience. I cannot verify, but I am certain that you also have a subjective experience. If that is the case, Solipsism is incorrect. but it is the I that I'm thinking about, because it's your ego that is doing all this here on the forum. It reports to the One, just as VeganAwake's ego, but is not the one. That's an ego trip right there and you believe that you are enlightened meat. Thats why you feel your truth is more true than his. -
Dodo replied to Red-White-Light's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Come on, you have to see that you are applying a religious attitude here. His wording might be different to yours, but at least he doesnt treat consciousness as an object that now needs to be believed in. Perhaps he is even deeper than us and just using his words to get us to realise we shouldn't be so married to words like consciousness and God, because consciousness is even simpler than That. -
Dodo replied to Red-White-Light's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Well what there is for him, in his own experience, is just consciousness which is continuous and undivided. He can see that in his own waking experience. I mean come on the guy is deep into that stuff and you think he doesnt realise he is always aware/conscious? Now if we talk about some "infinite consciousness" out there that he can either believe in or not believe in, then we are not talking about the actual consciousness, which is what is important and which one he has direct experience as.
