I'm on a place in my journey where I look back at my life i see I have spiralled into all sort of hedonistic practices, because I want to get max value out of life, I would often indulge myself and have fun. Lots of wise souls on here, why is hedonism not THE thing, if nonduality would say there is no problem with it, all good. Also, living here and now, for the moment, often for me implies hedonism. There are so many people who live for tomorrow, for next year, even some living for the afterlife (without guarantee of one) ! How do they live for something that is not now instead of hanging out with this girl and that girl now for example.. Or getting drunk/high now, instead of being sober now for a better future .. How and why would one deprive oneself of life's goodies when there is no guarantee of afterlife and this could be our only opportunity to have it. Just contemplating, wondering.. I value your responses!

It's like in Harry Potter - there is Slytherin, there are evil characters, without them the movie would not really exist, would not be interesting for the viewer... Reality would not be realistic, game of life would not be life if there was not bad things and diseases, but that doesn't mean that we don't fight against them!! And may good win in the end and Jesus have complete rule over all the realms. For Jesus is the one who represents all those values I mentioned earlier and it would be him that we can trust to be a just ruler and keep evil in check. By the power and grace of God... PS: think about.. if you become the victim of demons that's when you will want and praise those who are fighting them and trying to help you... It's very important that we stand together ... But that doesn't mean to mix poison with milk, it means to protect our milk from poison together!

Pretty much. Do not take as belief that we are one thing.. There are many different essences at play. Like a soup and poop are qualitatively different and one is not for eating. It matters! Well, I would not say we are important, but maybe we have a bigger purpose on here. Yeah it matters if there are angels and demons if we are spiritual and can take our stand. We have a beast nature for sure and spirit nature at the same time - it is no secret! We can use our consciousness work and marry it with your own unique foundations... Like only YOU can have some thoughts come to, and only YOU can say certain things and come up with them and only you can make something happen the way you would do it. It might seem small, but it's big! What if we are writing history, on a grander scale and the book is not written.... What if the movie can have a good or bad ending - it is free to be either - so who chooses the ending?? If not us who are writing in the now?? Let's value Truth Honesty Wisdom Beauty Love and Peace above all, all the good qualities and look down on the satanistic values trying to spread and infect young minds with misinformation and trying to re-write sacred texts to make fun of it and express their perverse thoughts... It's like a disease - Would you say oooh the disease is there, but who decides if its good or bad... Well you would treat it! You would call the doctor and treat the disease... For Christianity, they offer Jesus Christ as the doctor...

Well, that's really one way of looking at it, but we have incomplete information. We do not know if it was possible to be born another place another time. We do not know whether our lives have a deeper meaning and that there is noone keeping book! I have had experiences on the contrary to suggest there is such a thing as afterlife, angels and demons. What you mention is your worldview, but it is based on limited information in not knowing, I do not blame, because I too have had it. It is a very peaceful thought, but there are forces of darkness working hard to make nightmares out of your dreams, so forces of light assemble!!

@Frenk As you might notice I am more on the experiential side rather than on the scholarly side, I have experienced what I would call the Holy Spirit, well I was calling it Spirit of True Love, but was really beautiful and magical force of good. But of course, I had to get cleaned up to interact/find/experience the Spirit... And had to abstain from sexual desire..

It's rather a big thing for me because I have had Islamic "hallucinations" at one point - not that it said they were islamic anywhere, but I thought they thought I was Christ and wanted to punish me like judgement man... But they were happy I said im the son of Mary and not son of God. But I didnt know at the time that is where they differ to the Bible. But joke on them im not Jesus, I am just some dude haha... But its no joke, stuff was serious... I felt like I was on trial and was going to be stoned to death for being an infidel etc etc.. There were many other miraculous and nightmare scenarios of different flavours and stuff so I just attribute all this to demonic visions. I will not get any ideas about reality from all these things and visions because I know infinite imagination works in mysterious ways It can totally try to mindfuck you... But we have to stand strong in our truth... And my truth is really, that I do not know, but I know you will always be judged in someone's book! God should see how the information coming to us is overwhelming, we can't all follow the Right faith. For me it is the Orthodox faith... But I am not well versed in it, I just find it to be most honest and powerful...

Look, ultimately, Islam differs in that they do not think Jesus was more than a prophet, and they do not give credit to the sacrifice of the Righteous Jesus in the hands of sinful people. Im pretty sure Jesus wanted to live and have an amazing life that he deserved... Like ours that we might not deserve as much!

I do not and prefer not to imply that I know in any way how God works. It is and will remain always beyond my understanding, as a human being. Now as a human being The bible doesn't telll you you're f'd because it gives the infinite scapegoat, the crucifuction of Christ... Lets read more about that, I definitely will, because it's something big for salvation... In not knowing what will happen..

You have choice and it might very well be against the will of God, against the will of Life. If you think both options are the will of God, your God is air, or randomness, the God of absolute freedom where everything goes... It is not the true God of Love and peace. Freedom under the laws of Love, not absolute freedom

Thats th e sort of evil that is on this world yes, but saying that's God's plan is just a mistake in my view. In your worldview there is no free will and it is all God's will correct? Well this is not at all the God of Christianity, its the whole thing, the battle of the forces of darkness and the light, on a grand scale. Stop believing nonduality and that all is the will of God. I fully believe in judgement day and those wicked should get what they deserve. My hopes are that those who sin, but are not wicked will get God's mercy. And even the wicked, after rehab in hell.... I just hope! But yeah I would not assume everything that happens in our reality is God's will.

Im trying to guage at why is hedonism not the way. As the guy said, meditative life is even bigger hedonism.. I think I have PTSD from visions of hell when I had experience of thinking intuitively that im about to die.. I thought im living fine since I accept the moment, but I wont be able to accept the moment if I am suffering in hell, making my practice like a challenge to the universe "oh you have no problem in the present moment, lets check if thats ultimately true" and turns out if im in hell, its not!!

Ok, that is a great entry. However to me I really have more issue with questions about afterlife, because in thw present moment, as said, one can very easily, through practice of dwelling in the space consciously, find peace and happiness, but that is still in this life and it might be selfish to even do that... The thing is I don't know. So this train of thought that maybe in this life I am not supposed to be happy, but productive or giving or yoy know, a help to society, help to God's plan etc.. I know people here don't subscribe to God outside of us, but really it is both inside and out by my definition, so we might be quick to assume we know God by knowing ourself, but maybe its partial and we need to turn to the word of God (bible) for clarity.. Bit confused, because maybe if I sacrifice my happiness in this life for a good effect on society it is better for my afterlife, which might be longer than this life if not eternal... But on another hand, maybe we are supposed to be happy now and not think about afterlife, because it can also be seen as selfish as well, to secure your place in heaven... After all is said, i can see the theme of Damned if you do, damned if you don't.... So I am perplexed. Don't know what is right.

well I have tried it, but not sure how this will affect afterlife stuff you know... Present moment and being here now, doesnt really say a lot about whether you will go to hell. You might be comfortable and feel great during your life - i have no problem being hedonistic if there were no possible consequences in afterlife... Which is kind of a big deal for me....... Well YOLO but do I really YOLO, and if I do, maybe the afterlife will be eternal... so maybe need to pick the right things.... I have no problem with going for it during the present moment, obviously, since ive done hedonistic things so many times....

I like to say that you dont know me personally if someone says this, because I like to just be a plant and not do much... I like to exist, a lot, I don't like to have to do things to exist. There are different types of dreams 1) Dreams that show events from during the day in a mixed up fashion, just re-playing the data sort of thing 2) More conscious dreams, in which you appear to have a purpose and there is some sort of storyline playing out with deeper meaning. 3) lucid dreams, in which you gather knowing that you're in the dream plane, and have more free will within the dream, rather than playing out the storymode. 4) Messages from the Universe - this is rare, from my experience at least, while falling asleep I felt the top of my head (crown chakra) as if someone was touching it. Later that night I dreamt a very deeply meaningful dream with my guardian angel on a bus. I was half asleep in the dream and she was trying to teach me stuff. Showed me one really beautiful looking place and told me; "this is hell" - I connected that place with gaming and with other addictions I am struggling with. She was in business clothes and everyone around was black and white business man,.

either way, will make use of it fully! that's like mega-prayer, run it all night long

lol, you like to force your view on the universe! but then "It can appear how it likes" and "it must appear how it likes" are then equivalent so it is really a mute point.
