The idea that if you kill bad people crime will be reduced or solved is very materialistic. A couple of things could be taken into consideration. A person is not his physical body. Destroying the physical body does not destroy the person. There is no such thing as death. According to some spiritual literature the person after death does not become an angel, he is the same psychologically as when he was in the body. After his physical life has been cut short, he is filled with anger and revenge, because of it and influences vulnerable people to commit crimes. Imagine a glass vial with a poisonous gas in it. By destroying the vial you do not destroy the gas, you release it and the gas can hurt a lot of people. A much better option is to isolate the convict and give him physical work to keep him occupied, instead of executing him. If murder solved anything we would be living in paradise by now.

Humans killing animals has consequences for humans, animals killing animals has consequences for animals. Because humans have self awareness and choices that the animal does not have, our responsibility is bigger. Regarding the bear analogy, there is a difference between such isolated cases and the consequences of the deliberate slaughtering of hundreds of millions of animals. The planet can produce enough food to feed everyone. The problems are bad management and distribution. The world we live in is much better compared to the world 500 years ago. In a hypothetical world in which we show no, or less violence toward animals, we would show no, or less violence towards each other. If meat is the only option for some remote cultures then of course the choice is obvious. Survival comes first. But they are an insignificant percentage. Not saying that eating meat should be banned, or that people who eat meat are bad. Just giving food for thought how our everyday decisions could be influencing the world at large. The gland part does not refer to the dead animal, it is a metaphor for Nature as a living whole. Harming one part affects the whole.

Billionaires are an insignificant portion of the world's population. Most crime is survival based. Guaranteed survival doesn't mean no consequences if you break the law. I do not see how an AI can be created that polices everyone equally. A system like this would require hundreds of billions of dollars to create and maintain. The people that have that much money are not going to turn it on themselves. Even if such an open source system is created they will find a way to co-opt it. A lot of rules aren't decided by criminologists, they're decided by the people with the most money and power. Mass surveillance would lead to mass paranoia like it did in the USSR. People would not speak their mind in fear of consequences. With such a system there are things that one can say and do that may not break a certain law, but they could still be used to blackmail them and ruin their reputation. There are such cases already. Gathering compromising information about someone, even if they haven't broken a law, is one way intelligence services recruit and control people. I've watched both. Death Note is a great example of a corrupt person abusing power. If such a system were created, I wouldn't want someone like Light Yagami in charge of it.

You have to turn your brain back on and start thinking about the consequences, how you will feel afterward, what will you gain ultimately from it and that breaks the spell.

I am not on the markets. As far as I understand, the market prices are manipulated by the big players to extract the most money from regular people. The way to eliminate the risk is to be 100% certain what decisions they have made beforehand. And also regarding the AI girlfriend/boyfriend some people are too quick to reject it. I am neutral about it, but imagine a partner that never gives you a bad time, never hurts you, understands you, is calm, rational, always supportive and available 24/7. Who can say that they have had such a human partner? Very temtping, but it is not a real relationship.

People invested massively in the creation of US railways, believing they would be useful and produce profits. Railways are very useful to this day, but the financial benefits did not materialize immediately, and a lot of investors lost their money. With the advent of the internet a lot of companies invested in .coms for similar reasons. Most lost their investments because the market was overhyped. But the internet didn't disappear, now it is integral to modern life. It can be used for both good and bad, making people smarter or dumber based on how they choose to use it. I think AI is completely analogous to both. There will be a correction, but the technology is here to stay.

I think that there will be a downward correction in AI, most investors will lose their hundred billion dollar investments, but there won't be an absolute crash. The USA government can simply say "AI is critical infrastructure, we need to develop AGI before China." and bail out the Ai companies with freshly printed money at the expense of the middle class. AI technology is here to stay and will continue to develop. Maybe the youngest people today could see the full automation of physical labour.

We develop our freewill when we choose between good and evil.
