  1. Look up Wouter J. Hanegraaff, he is a leading authority and basically founder of the modern study of Western Esotericism. His definition is something along the lines of "everything that has been consigned to the dustbin of history by Enlightenment ideologues"
  2. If I may recommend two towns from my country (the Netherlands): Deventer or Nijmegen - very beautiful and not 'discovered' so much by tourists
  3. I think parts of the spiritual world love scientific ideas like: everything is energy, even matter is transformed energy/ energy in a condensed state. This would then somehow confirm Advaita Vedanta/monism etc. And it is a small step then to the New Age creed that 'everything is connected' (everything is just desubstantized flux). Similarly, basic physics ideas that vibrations carry energy and that higher frequencies correspond to higher energy levels can bolster more metaphysical/spiritual ideas. Though it's easy to take those conceps out of context. Perhaps the reason that Leo and Tolle don't talk about this is that ultimately spirituality (in their view) is not so much about propositional knowledge as it is about direct experience (of truth).
  4. If Jaggi Vasudev is really enlightened I don't think I'd want to become enlightened then..
  5. Yes, definitely, on removing blockages to success
  6. Yes, absolutely! I find it quite confronting to be more aware of darker ego patterns in people close to me.
  7. Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R. Hawkins
  8. Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung Subconscious Release (by Julien Blanc - it's similar to Teal Swan's Completion Process) Open presence/void meditation Yin yoga Somatic Experiencing-like guided meditation
  9. So if I understand correctly, consciousness/pure intelligence is some kind of WiFi network and we incarnate into forms like laptops, mobile phones (to continue the metaphor) that connect to that. Even if those physical forms die, the WiFi network remains?
  10. It sounds a lot like Advaita Vedanta, where ultimately there is only one thing: pure consciousness. This kind of spiritual idealism, where consciousness is basically equated with (or fundamental to) existence would be rejected by materialists who argue that consciousness is just a by-product that emerges from the brain, which is just matter. They argue that there isn't 'more' than just matter, or at least there's no evidence. However this doesn't really account for the fact that much of experience, for example qualia like the 'redness' of the color red are subjective but real nonetheless. Hard to tie back to just matter. Similarly, we are so much engaged with information constantly, but information is not matter. Whatever side you are on, it will always be difficult to understand what bridges the two domains, matter and consciousness, knower and that which is known etc
