  1. "What is reality" epiphany terror realization
"What is reality" epiphany terror realization
That's exactly right. I know exactly what you're talking about. That's the ego's natural reaction to going directly for enlightenment. It's terrified of the unknown infinitude. Only natural and totally expected.
The solution is to push through it, face the fear head-on, until you breakthrough to the other side. This can take many attempts.
This is why religions call it "taking the leap of faith". You place your faith in Truth as your highest aim and desire, and blindly leap for it not knowing what will happen. From your POV it feels like you will die. But your love for Truth must be so great that you desire it so much that you are willing to die to have it. And so you do. But in reality what will happen is the ego will collapse and you will land in an infinitely deep pool of the softest down feathers. That is paradise, heaven, nirvana, -- AKA, the Love of God.
But you cannot know this before you take the leap.
Fear of death & insanity is what keeps you from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.
But of course, you must realize, all fear is imaginary. You are like the groundhog terrified of its own shadow.
Psychedelics make ego-death a lot easier.

@Leo Gura your last video on "what is reality" hit me like something I was unprepared to handle. Like a sudden hard DMT trip where fear and panic set in and I felt like I was going insane or about to die.
I have had these realizations before on DMT and it's like I start to comprehend on a deep level what you are saying and then the deep terror sets in where I sincerely feel that if I become conscious of the fact that I am imagining everything that, for lack of better term, "the game will be up" and I have a terror of what that will mean for me and my existence. I fight that feeling and I am purposely running from it because I am absolutely terrified of it to my core of existence. I feel like everything will cease to exist including my sense of self and I don't know what will happen then. I really feel as though I will have a psychotic break down or die, aka cease to imagine myself and the world. I guess my question is; Will I die? What will happen? Will this reality as I know it cease to exist for me or will I see things as they truly are and have a more conscious understanding of them? I feel like I may be going too deep without proper understanding? Its like every time I am faced with the absolute truth I get terrified and fight not seeing it to keep my present reality. I don't know if I really want to know how deep the rabbit hole goes because I think it will mean total physical and mental death and I enjoy this life I am in right now... Maybe i have all the understanding I want and need for now?
    Thank you Leo.

  3. Possible to surpass my physical limits? (skateboarding)
Possible to surpass my physical limits? (skateboarding)
They did a famous study where they split a group of basketball players into 3 sub-groups: one which was told to practice free-throws normally, one which was told to only visualize shooting free-throws, and one which was told to not play at all and not to visualize.
After a few weeks, the most accurate shooters were the visualization group.
All the best professional athletes use visualization.
But visualization is not so easy to do. When you're doing it precisely, it will be some of the toughest practice you've ever done.
The point is not quantity of practice but quality of practice. There is enormous value in clarifying moves in your mind. But you have to do it realistically. Don't confuse this with fantasizing about being a good skateboarder. That is not visualization practice, that is something else: visioning. Instead, you want to be visualizing which muscles you're flexing, your footwork, your mind state, your emotional state, where your eyes are looking, the timing of your jump, how your weight is balanced on the board, how a good jump feels mid-flight, etc. And all of that needs to be as true to real life as possible.
You're basically trying to create a realistic skateboarding simulator in your mind within which you can then run drills. Any serious athlete must do this or they won't have a chance at being the best.
You must apply consciousness to your skateboarding. Which means discovering what is TRUE about how the domain of skateboarding works. Right now you don't really know what is TRUE about skateboard dynamics. You are just winging it and hoping it works out. Which is why your results aren't so good.
Nikola Tesla famously designed the electric motor entirely in his mind using precise visualization. Imagine being able to visualize so well you can engineer a car engine in your mind. That's what you're shooting for, but with skateboarding.

  4. Questions about the power of homeostasis
Questions about the power of homeostasis
@Steph1988 Moving out and become self-sufficient is a huge step forward for anyone in their 20s.
It will be tough to do serious development work while living with your family. They will suck you back into your own patterns. They will be threatened by changes you're making. So it's best to do that on your own.
Your mind will entrain to your family's level of consciousness.
You also feel a sense of power and autonomy when you're not beholden to someone else paying your bills or providing you a roof. You want to become independent so you can set your own healthy standards and not have to put up with low consciousness crap from other people.
If it takes you a few years to establish this level of autonomy, it will be worth it. I'd consider it a foundation for all future personal development work.
Then again, if you're stuck living with your folks for the next year or two, don't make that into an excuse not do the work. You can still grow enormously if you apply yourself. And since you're young, you've got a lot of energy to invent into this.
So really, it's good both ways.
The more toxic your family is, the faster you should be aiming to move out. To be financially independent feels so GOOD!

  5. Raising your consciousness
    Raising your consciousness
The clearest way to get a feel for what raising of consciousness is like, is by taking a psychedelic. Within 30 minutes you experience your consciousness raised to ungodly levels. It's quite astouding. You'll struggle to believe it even as it is happening to you.
You can literally become conscious of how existence came into being and why it exists, for example.
A more conventional way to feel a rise in consciousness is to compare yourself when you're foggy or horny or sleepy versus when you're sober and clear-minded. It's a pretty big difference.

I just got banned from a pickup forum
When I was serious about it, I was doing 20 approaches per night.
The most I did was 700 approaches in one month.
It took me 450 approaches to get my first girl.
Of course it's not just about quantity. Quality of approach matters A LOT. But for newbies, sheer quantity is needed to build up the quality, cause a newbie doesn't know what quality means yet.
The whoke key to pickup is you gotta find a place where you can quickly make 20 approaches per night/day. And you can only do that in very specific areas, like a big nightclub, or downtown area, or giant shopping mall, or busy beach.
    Best places are:
NYC LA Venice Beach Santa Monica Miami Austin Vegas London Etc.

“The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically, the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience.”

  8. How to perceive the present moment?
How to perceive the present moment?
@realname Your question is asked from the materialist paradigm which assumes a brain, an external world, a subject, and an object which is being perceived.
But this entire model is wrong & merely conceptual.
There actually is no such thing as perception. All experience is direct and immediate. It is BEING. There is zero delay. You have raw, direct, unmediated access to everything you experience -- if you would just ditch all your conceptual frameworks and assumptions.

Did Anyone Else Here Have No Idea What They Wanted To Be?
@egoless Finance doesn't have to be corporate. That's just all you've bothered to explore.
Corporate is easy because they pay you a comfy paycheck and have carved out a spot for you. It's the path of least resistance. But if you're seriously passionate about a thing, you will probably have to venture out on your own and carve out your own spot. Most people never do that, because they only know how to think inside the box, like sheep, and they are lazy, like sheep. The only options they consider are ones which are laid out for them on silver platter by someone else. With that kind of attitude, there can be no life purpose, there is only earning a paycheck.
