@Hardkill It doesn’t seem like Trump has any significant leverage over putin, but he does over Zelenskyy. The ceasefire wouldn't happen because Trump convinces putin but because Ukraine might agree to a losing peace deal. The ceasefire could last during Trump’s time in office, but I’m not sure our government would let men leave the country. If they did, a lot of men will leave, which will leave Ukraine very underpopulated and an easy target.

Would you want to defend a country where a drunk judge kills someone in a car accident and, after a few months, is released from jail like nothing happened? Would you defend a country where, every day, you see posts about corrupt politicians making millions from the war, buying villas in Spain, and sending their sons abroad? Imagine volunteering, and on your first mission, your incompetent captain orders you to capture a territory that can't be taken, leading to your death. Stupid deaths in the army happen all the time. Would you want to live among people who watch videos of human bodies being blown apart, with pieces of flesh flying in all directions, and actually laugh and cheer because it’s the enemy? Our government allowed women to cross the border, and as a result, hundreds of thousands of families were ruined. Where is justice in that? How can I love a country like this? You know nothing about how to live here.

@LordFall I've done a lot of research already and have a few connections. I can get a fake disability for $20k, but it still doesn't guarantee a 100% chance of getting through the border—more like 60-40. Waiting a few months after the election is a good idea; that's what I was thinking. However, if nothing changes, it will be time to make a hard decision: make the best out of life here and wait or take the risk.

@Jodistrict We get promises that this war will end soon, starting from the third day of this full-scale invasion. If nothing changes soon after Trump's election, this will be a definite sign that it's absolutely not clear when this war ends.

porque started following I want to leave Ukraine, but is it worth the risk?
-
@Something Funny That's exactly what I'm thinking! I know I need to take full responsibility for my life, but I also need to consider the risks. On one side, my life here is not super bad, but on the other, I don't feel free. I don't even mention a chance to be killed by a rocket or drone because it has become so mundane.
-
@Raze No, only men with disabilities are exempt from recruitment. A broken leg can heal in one month.

The large-scale war has been a part of my life for almost three years now, and I’m starting to feel like I’ve had enough of it. I’m looking for ways to leave the country. Right now, the only options are: to pay a huge bribe to get my documents fixed so I can cross the border, or to find shady people involved in human trafficking across the border. Both options are extremely risky. If I get caught, I’d go straight to the frontline. I have a cool apartment and a well-paid job aligned with my life purpose. But society here is filled with anger, despair, and pain. We have a curfew, drones and rockets attack the city every other night, and recruitment patrols walk around constantly, so I don’t feel free at all. I don’t feel like I’m meant to live here, but the risks of leaving the country hold me back, leaving me to wait and see how the conflict unfolds. The problem is, I have no idea when the war will end, and I don’t want to spend all of my 30s in a country at war. What would you do?
